Rare 5-0 start to a 5* tournament. Tried out a new attacking team of Dabria - Loki - Lepiota - Ludwig - Matilda. Dabria’s revive chance is not as high as MN’s, but she’s got stronger stats and passives, and that increasing defense is useful. Her heal is not much, so Loki acted as a stealth healer.
Boards weren’t great. Don’t think I managed to get Ludwig and Lepiota charged in 2 moves the whole day. But somehow managed to survive and win, including 3 times in overtime.
This was the toughest match. Thought I had lost a couple of times after the Ludwig tank fired.
Dearth of Purple tiles continued in Day 2, and this time there were no comeback wins.
First 2 matches were against defenses with TP of 6104 and 5964. Loki and Dabria tried their best to keep the team alive, but against heroes like Sha Wujing and Aradia that is just delaying the inevitable. Two zeroes off the bat.
3rd was against a more traditional Ludwig flanked by LoTL with Kalo and MN wings. Probably should have brought Xiaotu. Managed to kill Ludwig, but LoTL’s minions just kept cutting mana.
Dropped down to ‘easier’ defenses and won the last 2 to stay alive at 7-3. Defense is still winless at 0-5 though, so not too motivated for Day 3
My Augustus is only 3-70, but he’s far and away my Rush VIP on offense. Throw in Franz, Khufu, and Milady and it’s a done deal, Ludwig is almost superfluous.
On the second day, luck with the boards and matched opponents was still good (5-0 day).
I’m not sure, but I think it’s the first rush for my c2Quintus (I got him quite recently) and I have to say he is a really great anti-Ludwig weapon. Six purple tiles and cSabina removes the taunt from Ludwig, and Quintus launches a mindless attack on him and the nearby heroes. Quintus only beats three, but he doesn’t give randomness like Alfrike’s attacks, which is still my “queen of defense” (current record 7-0).
Today I scored a 0 on my 3rd match, Ludwig LB2 flanked by Alfrike & Barkly.
This one I kept getting Red, Blue and Yellow tiles. Can you guess which 2 colours I was using for my heroes? Yep, you got it: Purple and Green.
My last match was frustrating:
Louhi / Queen Guowang / Hathor LB2 / Ludwig LB2 / Kalo
The number of times I almost died was unbelievable, Louhi kept getting all my heroes DD, then Kalo would fire, and sometimes Queen too. It seemed like Hathor and Ludwig were constantly going off, it was very very frustrating and I almost quit multiple times. Their Ludwig would be active, and I would have 3 Fiends from Khepri on him, I would have 9 minions up from Lady of the Lake, and it’s like every time it the minions would hit all other 4 heroes except Hathor, then Hathor would heal one of those Fiends, then it would happen again and again, so no Fiends would explode on Ludwig! It was a ridiculous nightmare.
Eventually, it went to extra damage and after 3 minutes left, I killed Ludwig, then Kalo went off and had Taunt active omg! Slowly killed them all and won and I lost 0 of my heroes.
I am done with this game, time to go nospend.
What’s the point in spending when my results everywhere are poop.
I am also done posting in tournament threads. Posting my miserable results kinda gets old… Might post an occasional good result if anything like that is possible for me to do.
O - 10-4 (5-0, 3-2, 2-2)
D - Just E… I am not even telling you the def, it doesn’t matter what I put there it’s always E. Half a year of 5* tourneys without any top 1% result? Possibly. Once def worked in a 5* tourney while like 7-8 times it was just E…
Btw none of my losses were for 0. 3 for 440 3 killed heros, 1 for 290 2 killed heroes. Both losses today were just stupid, but I am not going to write essays about that anymore.
One thing I do for my defense sometimes and have had good results is just be random with it, and don’t give it too much thought. Usually, the ones where I give a lot of thought and think it’s perfect (from my selection), do badly. But then the ones that I just thought “Meh, that will do”, have done really well.
It’s not just defense, it’s everything mashed together. Currently feeling down and feel like quitting the game completely, at least I really shouldn’t spend any more money to fund my misery. Not that I spend much or too much, but still not even 1 cent is worth it.
The ‘benefit’ of losing 3 in a row and having a bad defense score is that you get matched up against easier opponents. No Alfrike in sight today, nor any revivers except a Heimdall at tank. A couple of Ludwigs but in flank position he got copied by Loki and then neutralized by Lepiota.
Brought Xiaotu in a couple of times vs a Sorrow tank as well as a Hulda tank with Waterpipe wing. Some newer heroes such as Aradia, Hurricane, and Jove, but finally got some nice Purple tiles to start a match and wasn’t troubled in any of the matches.
Defense has also ‘improved’ to 2-7. Still an E but at least it won’t finish winless
Came to see how everyone was mentally faring this week as 5* rush tends to be spirit crushing.
Roland I’m sorry for all your frustration and I hear you. I find your contributions in raid tournament threads very helpful, but understand if you need a step back from it. Hugs to you!
As for me, I came into the week with absolutely zero expectations. In fact @notyou87 I DID throw a defense up randomly and it has an A rank 66.6% win rate so barely A, but almost every time we have any 5* tournament I’m at E all week. So there’s that.
I made it through 3 full days which isn’t bad for me with legendary tournaments. 11-4 and I’m out. Won’t be buying back in. Hoping I get some of that good lower loot tier RNG!
Nothing too special or useful to say on day 2. Last couple matches were fiend heavy so I switched in Arco for Augustus. I thought Jasper would have made the last match tougher, but that wasn’t the case.
