I’m having a hard time deciding which ice hero to max first. I am trying to return to c2p, short on ascension materials and still working on my defense team, which consists of:
Triton (my 1st 4*, whom I love using, at 3/60)
Baldur (2/40)
Kashhrek (4/60)
Natalya (2/20), whom I’d like to replace by Mist (2/50)
Rigard (3/60, waiting for mats)
Apart from Triton, my blue options are (all at 1/1):
Misandra (whom I like for her speed but so far none of her special extra attacks have fired)
Thorne (I like him for his damage, but not for his slowness; considering him as a tank for a war team since I’m short on ‘real’ tanks)
Jott (not sure what to think of him)
2 Kirils (definitely gonna work on them, but at earliest as my 2nd maxed blue, because I already have a Melendor halfway ascended, for whom there’s also a costume in the wait)

I think if you’re short on mats for a four star, you shouldn’t even think about the fives yet. Get yourself a core of four star rainbow teams and while you’re working on that, you’ll hopefully get some better fives and the mats to bring them up. That being said, triton is a great sniper.
good advice, re focusing on 4s first. I would get some depth there (like 3 good 4s per color, before working on a 5* of that color).
That leaves Jott, Kiril and Sonya.
Coming from a color-stacking perspesctive, I’m leaning towards Kiril, he has great synergy with Triton. You could use Kiril first to boost Triton’s attack for a more powerful hit, or use Triton first so Kiril heals more. And you use Triton a lot. Although, it does seem like you have many healers in other colors (Rigard, Kash, Melendor on the way). But Kiril also provides buffs, he doesn’t just heal.
If you had Sonya’s costume though, I would pick her. The costume lets you choose whether she dispels or cleanses; and compared to Kiril’s buffs (which are nice to have), the dispel or cleanse may be essential / necessary depending on your opponent.
In my honest opinion, given what you have said in your roster, I would focus on levelling your 4 star heroes first.

Kiril
Sonya

Rigard
Melendor

Triton, as you’re working on Rigard. Once Triton is done move on Kiril. And yes, be patient with 5* and concentrate on 4* first, it will make game much easier.
