What’s the point of cup dropping?

You get better loot from hero chests at higher levels right? Why would anybody intentionally go down cup levels?

To get it faster. In my data 3 gold chests are better than 2 platinum.

It used to be more for the resources before they rebalanced it a few months back. Now I think people do it simply to save time e.g. zip through their raids and fill their chests with a minimum of time/effort. I’m not sure the loot difference between levels (plat vs gold) makes much difference…meaning there isnt ENOUGH difference.

It’s also possible to float on the bubble between two tiers. Set a weak, but not stupid weak, defense so that you end up at the high end of a tier, then earn your way back to the low end of the higher tier with the raids you win to fill the chest.

Bad, my raiding is still about resources. I find the rebalance to have been losers lose less while winners still get rewarded. Always wonder about all my lost cups that were losses of only cups.

K-doc, that bubble is thin. You don’t need to lower your def team’s strength when you get 2200+ cups. Those 4000+ strength teams smell you.

you are correct here. I haven’t been able to stick in diamond very long because of those overnight (my time) hunters…

I do it because raiding in diamond gets boring as hell when you face the same heros every single day.

Before SH20 it is all about iron. Iron from your wins and iron from your chests. When I was hovering Silver/Gold, I could win 80+% in Silver around 60% in gold with a LOT more Rerolls.

Cup management and Raids - except for loot level there is no game advantage to having more cups. Therefore you can drop cups when you are offline to get better matchups when you are online. You can do this by changing your defense team to a weak team before closing the app (also a good idea to empty your tower). If you are hovering near 1200 you want to drop to silver then raid up to gold. (If you don’t quite make gold you can raid again to get to gold before you collect the chest). I have no idea how much better Gold is Han Silver but it should be at least a little better right?

I ALWAYS trade food for iron. Food builds faster than iron and can be “banked” in training centers. My rule of thumb is more than 5K iron, team power about 200 less than mine and none of the very problematic hero’s like Boldtusk. I will reroll 20 times for the right match particularly while filling a hero chest.

I improved daily iron production by nearly 100K per day by dropping cups.
