5* 2.60, 5* 3.70 and Mother North
The below discussion is focused on Mother North, but also links to a third post discussing 5* 2.60 and 5* 3.70 heroes.
Mother North
Click for Mother North details
Mother North, Alberich, Delilah, Joon, Natalya, are some heroes that work fine at 5* 3.70 because of their special skills. They work better at 5* 4.80 or 5*+19 but fine at 5* 3.70 . When at 5* 3.70 they need a decent roster of 4* heroes to support them.

5* 2.60 and 3.70
5* 2.60 is generally weaker than 4* 3.60 .
5* 3.70 is generally weaker than 4* 4.70 .
The Devs have said this is by design.
5* 3.70 Exceptions
There are several exceptions- Alberich, Joon, Natalya and several others- are all very powerful at 5* 2.60 and 5* 3.70.
These are usually heroes with specials that do not do damage ( revive, heal over time, mana over time ) have a very powerful secondary effect ( 6 turn blind, non dispellable DOT, non dispellable debuff, zero initial damage with 100% DOT to bypass reflect damage and high defense stat ) or have powerful secondary effect not found in 4* Heroes ( Crush of Hel until Scar of the Depths was added ).
5* 3.70 follow the rule
There are many heroes that 5* 3.70 are worse than a similar 4* 4.70 hero- Lianna, Horghall, Sartana, Quintus, Marjana, Azlar, and many others.
Example
5* 3.70 Marjana is weaker than 4* 4.70 Kelile.
These are usually heroes with specials that are pure damage, partial damage and partial DOT, or a slow mana speed version of a 4* heroes fast mana speed, or average mana speed, special ability
Miracle Scrolls
The early game is all about completing rare quests, Class quests and challenge event’s tier completion rewards to get emblems and 3* ascension items ( and 4* if you can).
Miracle scrolls suck. Revive scrolls are not much better.
However, if you have Mother North and a decent anchor hero - stays alive so you can still do matching damage ( like Boldtusk 4*+1 or Ameonna 4* 3.60 ) - they can use a Revive scroll ( you can carry 3 ) on Mother North then a mana item on Mother North to revive your other 3 heroes.
Minions!
There are currently three types of healers. Immediate healing, Heal Over Time ( HOT ), and minions ( minions increase a hero’s HP while their attack is only good for clearing split mobs with 1 HP each ). Immediate healing does nothing for 100% HP, undamaged, heroes, but helps heavily damaged heroes the most. HOT does not stack, but helps heavily damage, and soon to be damaged, heroes the most. Minions can increase a hero’s HP above his 100% HP and heals undamaged and damaged heroes the same. New minions also replace damaged minions “healing” any hero without three full HP minions.
Many 5* heroes are HOT, ( I think Kerridoc pointed this out ), so they don’t stack. Tarlak and Alberich’s HOT would overwrite each other. Delilah has both an immediate heal and minions, so she stacks with a HOT hero like Alberich or Tarlak. Even better, Alberich generates mana for Delilah’s special skill and revives dead heros.
And % Heal is more powerful with X*+19 heroes, especially 4* / 5* heros.
