Updated Costume Quest - Feedback / Balance / Rewards discussion

Feels like the hardest thing in the game for me… what do you think is harder than this event? For towers I usualy stop after I complete the first 25 stages because it gets boring… nevertheless its just the last 3 stages that really need to be tuned down a bit… Joon snipping at 2k+ is HARD :upside_down_face:

I voted that the quest was too hard and that the rewards were not enough. For me there are two ways two fix this:

  • leave the difficulty as it is and give more keys, extra emblems, etc. just improve the rewards
  • leave the rewards as they are, but lower the difficulty significantly.

MOBs can take out my strongest heroes with one shot!

I like the harder levels for the costume Quest, most of us that have been playing for a long time want to be challenged more, however, the rewards and loot need to be much better in my opinion. More costume keys for completed levels is a must, i save them for a portal i really want to pull from, so the more i can accrue the better.

The rewards are awful and terrible for the difficulty and time. Same number of costume keys as the previous version of the quest? what?!

And finally, this event is unusually tough for those who would - gasp - rely mainly on S1 heroes, and whose best chance of updating these heroes is to get these costumes. and the best chance to get these costumes is in this quest… which has now become more difficult… for the same number of summon keys…?!

Difficult isn’t bad, but please make the rewards worth the time and effort!

I guess I’d rephrase to say that the earlier levels are quite hard, but on the last level, since none of the enemies are snipers, it actually makes it a bit easier. I was focusing a lot on how hard the last level was, which actually felt easier than some of the others. I also didn’t use a single item on the last level, which surprised me.

I have struggled more with some magic tower stages (probably because I’m not paying attention enough). And I think Clash of Knights is unnecessarily difficult.

Got it!

Stages 13-14 were very difficult because of Joon of course. However I am still unable to complete stage 15… I am insisting on only using axes, arrows, bombs, minor/normal mana and healing potions…

In my case as I dont have an overhealer and rely on mana control it gets very difficult most of the times because of boards that dont favor my yellow mana controllers

Edit: just completed the last stage. I was able to do enough mana control that none of the bosses fited. Still at my vote that the last 3 need some tuning down.

Anyway I did more than 65 summons and didnt pull any 5* or any new 4* :triumph: only 1 Grace HOTM

My strongest heroes are not capable of getting past stage 11. Adjusting to strategies of counter attack, over healer, etc…those characters cant make it past the basic enemies before the bosses. I dont mind strategizng to fight certain bosses but im wasting all my mateials just to get to the final fight.
Gaming 101. The player should feel a sense of accomplishment and power gain as they progress. If you are going to coninue making the game feel like we cant ever get to a comfortable level…that our work was a waste of time…then we are wasting our time playing and leveling heroes. Which means there really is no need to play the game anymore.

It’s pretty much the terrible rewards VS the difficulty. It’s not worth the trouble

We r used to an easy masquerade, hence all the opinions…

I am sure everyone got those 10 :key: :grinning:

Yes, they can increase the :key:s
But
Will they ?!

Boards have been bad for a 3-2 combo too
&
Those slashes are almost kill shots

I thought the quest was just little hard… But I only got past 2 … But I am new and low level, still the game is fun ! It just needs to lower the time it takes to get refilled to fight and titan’s fight and quest… thanks it still good games

The disconnect is with f2p players. We used to be second-class citizens – and I was quite ok with that. Now we are fourth-class and sinking fast. And the one small chicken bone they granted us has now splintered and is choking us.

As S1 costumes were made to help F2P/C2P, people with a weaker roster should still be able to get their two free summons. In the current quest, stage 10 was already considerably harder than the last stage of the old quest. Hence, many players who got all the keys from the old quest end up with four or five keys now.

The main problem is not the difficulty in general (I personally liked the challenge and had no problem even with the last stages), but that you only get the two free summons if your roster is already pretty good. Also, it’s a lot more time consuming, so completing 15 stages instead of 6 should also give more rewards and not just some extra trainer heroes.

If the mid section (stages 7 to 11 or so) were made somewhat easier, so that also players without good overheal heroes, minion summoners etc are also able to finish them and get around 10 keys and not only a few, it would be OK to make the last few stages very tough and challenging.

I am not sure this is the case… maybe they are made for spenders to revamp their S1 heroes

I do not believe costumes were made for this purpose… I see no rationale where having to pull a card a second or third time helps those with extremely limited pulls.

And now that the portal has 8* wolves

Wearing 5* outfits…

It seems clear to me
that these NEW CARDS, not… buffs…
were never designed for F2P/C2P

Really, do people really complain about masquerade being too easy? You play masquerade to get 10 keys easily and move on. Who cares if it’s too easy, what matters is that you get your guaranteed 2 pulls in the costume portal at the end of the day. Now the weaker players can’t even do that.

(In relation to the “quest too hard” poll):

  • Even if it’s to increase the stats a bit in the later stages, it’s weird that, for example, cAzlar (and cDomitia to an extent; unsure about the others as well) seems to be able to hit as hard as if the player had him, instead of the usual adjusted stats, like boss ccIsarnia dealing significantly less than actual ccIsarnia. PLUS it being uncleansable means that overhealing does not matter if more than 1000 HP is wiped within 2 turns.
** By extension, the stats can get a little higher, but the Special Skill itself should still be as it was if the boss was faced in Stage 4 and Stage 7.
  • Adjust the stats on the enemies as well. I should not be near death on the first wave because 1 enemy hits with half that hero’s total health stat.

And for the rewards, I’ve seen and kinda agree that 15 keys should match up with the stages. The trainers can be a nice bonus reward for completing the even stages. Personally, 18 to 20 keys if the stages are going to be this obsessively difficult. Otherwise, I’m not playing through this event.

You can re-read…. To clear the twist you have made up😀

Mobs

I did not notice the mobs. Except for the first wave, when I didn’t have my specials ready, I almost always left one alive in the corner after turn one. Charged specials and moved on to next wave. Rinse and repeat. Boring as hell. That’s the main reason I hate maps and quests and everything wave related. Might as well let us go straight for the bosses with all specials charged.

Bosses

Insanelly overpowered. Joon’s hit always kills a LB485+20 hero. Unless minnions and boosted health are available, there’s no way to survive a direct hit. So revive scrolls are pure gold. Their stats are also too high. I’d like to see their stats, against those of a 1 or 2* titan. Bet they’re close. Attk is higher, for sure.

Rewards

One word. Lame. Same as before. at least before we could auto run about 90% of the quest, if not all of it. Let’s face it, SG won’t give away more than two free pulls for a quest, but adding one freaking big aether and a few medium and small ones , in addition to the trainers would compensate for the difficulty imcrease and motivate players to follow the quest. Aethers are way too rare within the game, but, lately, sold for a dime a doesen, just like candy… just like ascension mats… you can’t get them, but you șure can buy them. Great marketing strategy, I’ll give them that.
