Hi new player here, what should I ascend and how should my team look? I am mostly interested in raiding but keep facing nasty high level teams that take no damage unless I stack 3 of 1 color.

First…stop what you are doing. Read this and take it as someone who did the same thing you are doing and leaned the hard way from it. This is not really a criticism, but something I wish someone had told (or at least better explained) to me when I started.
You are buying a lot of gems and getting a lot of good heroes. This isn’t necessarily bad (if you have the money), but so much of it will go to waste. You are going to want to slow down.
First…
If you have the mats to max a 5 star you will want those who are on the faster side and primary focus is damage. Snipers like Magni are a good example.
Second …
Focus on the 4 stars till you get 5-star mats. They are the most important heroes to you at this point and you will need them to grow. A maxed 4-star is usually better than a 5-star stuck at 70…and you will have a lot stuck at 70…no amount of money will change that. So post your 4s and we will go from there.
Last…
Until then, you can ignore most of those 5s. There are some key ones like Evleyn and White Rabbit (or your costumed Viv) you will want to take to 70, but others depend on what you have right now with 4s.
I did the same thing way back when I started. Ill post my last bench update so you can see. Ive eaten three or four times as many 5s as you have on your bench. Like you , I will never get to max them all because d-blades and tomes are needed by all 5-stars and are rarely sold. They will always be just pretty pictures on my bench.

Maybe cool your jets and finish some first before dropping more $$.
As far as which heroes are worth ascending… Alice, MN, Joon, Santa, Lianna, Marjana, Kingston, WR, Victor, Jabber, Vivica, Magni, Evelyn, Puss, Isarnia (and then costume her)… in no particular order. Probably a bunch of other ones as well.

(Unless you buy a million feeders to level them, too. Oh… and five-star mat deals. And random mat deals, because they probably won’t offer you enough 5* mat deals).
That said… I’d really want to finish at least two teams of four stars first–because you can do them faster they’re generally going to whip these 3-70 5-stars at 4-70, with a faster turn around.

Nobody mentioned Snow White but I’m telling you she’s overpowered. It’s not hard to have her doing 420% damage to all enemies, and she cleanses and dispells. Totally over the top. One of the best heroes in the game but nobody knows it yet because she’s new and people just think “she’s slow” or “she will remove my own buffs” but she’s just gonna kill the whole enemy team anyways, who cares about your buffs. Like if you have Aegir you would fire him just to intentionally tribute 15 status effects to Snow White. That’ll have her doing 405% to each enemy. If there’s any other buff or debuff from the enemies, she will max her damage out. Magni does 420% damage to 1 target at fast mana, that’s good. But Snow White will do 420% damage to each enemy, plus cleanse and dispel at slow mana. It’s broken.

Wow SG loves you so much they said keep spending and we will send more legendary heroes. Don’t forget to buy more space prior to doing summons…lol jk.
I am sorry I am well below your level with less than 20 legendaries so can’t give a meaningful advice.
But I think legendary heroes are hopeless without the ascension mats. Even a bunch of fully emblemmed 3 * probably giving you a hard time!

Sorry to say but there are reason why we started the game with a bunch of 1 * and not 5 *.
Nevertheless, it’s a good start for you as you already own most of the great 5 *. Congratzzz on the nice pulls.
- Mother North or Kingston if you are on PIB, Snow White, PIB, Alice and Jabberworks, White Rabbit worth considering.
