Mother North + Alby Defense Team?

I just pulled MN off of a single EHT from an elemental chest. First world problem, but I also have a maxed Alby on my defense team at left wing.

I’m currently leveling Kingston (have 9 tonics) and planned to max him to add to my green depth. Buddy was next in my queue as I pulled him earlier in the Christmas event.

I’ll still level Buddy until I get my 12th tonic, but wanted to poll the thread to see how viable a defense team would be with MN and Alby. Due to their slightly different effects, a potential lineup for me would be:

Mother North - Athena - Gravemaker - Ursena - Alby

My initial plan before pulling MN was this team:

Alby - Athena - Ursena - Joon - Gravemaker

I also have Ares, Kingston, Ariel and Inari soon to be maxed as well, and Grazul, Red Hood, Mitsuko, Richard, Magni, Perseus, Elkanen, Horghall, Kadilen, Leonidas all at 1/1.

With a potential double green on my defense team with MN + Alby, would it make sense to level Perseus or Richard to be my tank?

Thoughts?

I can’t say I’d be a fan, personally. On the wing they both do nothing for so long, the raider can basically play 5 on 3 vs. the tank and flanks. And you’re also taking out arguably the top overall tank in the game for Perseus who is a poor tank IMO, or Richard who is a tier below Ursena. I think your initial plan was a good one.

Perseus is not a tank…Richard can be.

I think your lineup as originally planned is good.

Having both of them on the wings does add pressure on the attacker to take both rezzers out quickly; otherwise just one of them can revive the defense and negate progress. The configuration would likely work best with Alby on the left and MN on the right since Alby could revive someone with a higher probability and MN could immediately heal them with porridge.

That being said, the rest of the defense has to be able to hit hard to make up for using two non-hitting healers. Of the heroes you listed, I’d try Alby - GM - Ursena - Joon - MN and see how it works out.

I read the answers below that state your original plan was the way to go…I say I agree also. But answer this one silly question>>>WHY would you change Ursena and GM positions just because of MN???

I would expose one of the the rezzing healers to get em in slightly earlier.

I think I’d still go with Alby on the left, though, just for the chance of an Alby rez followed by MN instant heal.

As a high diamond player and year long user of Mother North in Defence, and holder of Alby, I have some ideas for you.

Having both heroes is awesome. With the prevalence of Blue tanks in war having two high end green teams is a very good option - be they mono or 3/2 heavy.

But running north and Alby together in defence doesn’t scare me.

It did the first time I saw it. And like you I thought “whooaaaa” - but in practice only a really catastrophic board let’s them get to firing. I think I’ve only lost once to that combo where Alby revives north and then she revives him - the dream scenario everyone who sets that up hopes for. I’ve won probably 30-50 times.

In practice they are too slow and you sacrifice too much offence and it puts a lot of pressure on a tank and two snipers.

You have Alby leveled so he’s your A guy.

North even at 3/70 is stout and is an anchor on your B team.

If I had to compare, alby’s special is slightly better but Ma Porridge is waaay stronger (especially at +15) and can take two Lianna hits and still survive a couple slash attacks, so my coin falls to her in a straight up choice.

To me your ideal defence is:

Alby, Joon*, Urs, Gravy, Kingston

Where *Joon is the weak link (relatively speaking) and could be swapped for Magni or any other better sniper that comes along (Finley)

I’ve run North/Kingston left right on defence for months and I can log on to cup increases as often as I see losses. And my Ares tank isn’t in the same league as Ursena.

Be happy you have twin Revivers. Maybe run them for fun in a war with healing aid, but I’d not recommend it on the regular.

I have bothe MN and Alberich maxed out with emblems. I used to put them on defense together. Just tank or flank one of them if u really want to use both.

I went up against Zero after last Christmas event and he was running both. Took me 3 tries and it was annoying as heck. I started running the same and did so for about 6 months. I got attacked less, but I think it was because people didn’t want to waste the time.

Level Perseus as a tank, he is a tough tank, only tougher tank is Aegir.
