Jean-François – 5* Fire/ Red - February 2020 HOTM (Hero of the Month)

How many people run cleansers on defense, and if they did, how many people would fire Jean into one that they saw was charged? As far as his performance on defense, since offense will win the majority of matches anyhow, we grade defenders based on how they perform when opponents get off to a slow start, not how they perform if the opponent charges all of their heroes right away just like they dream of. Vs a slow start, Jean would have done on defense will do ~800-1000 damage to the entire enemy team pretty consistently if set at tank. Hell, throw Drake and the new purple Gravemaker behind him and you have a real Sophie’s Choice whether to cleanse him and incur their effects a few turns later sans cleanse or suffer Jean and wait until you cleanse everything together

I run a couple, one healer and Zimkitha on defence. Probably the exception, but most defenses run at least one healer.

I think I have seen Jean in the tank position and I don’t really recall him making as big an impact as Telluria. He isn’t the most sturdy to be a tank, so even if he fires once, he’ll usually die soon after and usually I’ll have a healer or cleanser charged to deal with the damage. Obviously if I get bad boards, I won’t be able to do that, but that’s the case against any defensive team. When I have seen him on defense, I think he has fired once when it hurt me, and that’s near the end of the losing match as I’ve already lost 2-3 heroes by that point, and 400-500 is more than enough to finish the battle. Otherwise, I can anticipate when he fires and ready a cleanser. As an aside, even though Neith gets a lot of grief, I find her more difficult as her mana cut precludes me from being able to immediately cleansing the blind.

Ok, now talking about adding 2 more HoTM on a defensive team to illustrate how good JF is is a little ridiculous. You can use that argument on any hero, You could substitute any DoT, even Kellie because you’re saying let her target suffer and potentially die while you wait for the other specials before cleansing.

Alright, bud. It’s already done and changed due to having been found to be too powerful. I’m just trying to explain to you why it happened, as you asked originally. If you dont believe 700ish damage to all at fast speed on offense is overly strong, that’s your call. If you dont think up to 1000 damage to all on defense is strong because you want to grade defenders on how they fare vs an ideal board where offense is all charged when you need them, also your call. In the end, that doesn’t matter because it was found to be too strong by those in charge of such things and has already been changed. I merely sought to show you the reasoning.

That’s fine. I mean, I can see why from that standpoint you can think that 4 turns of burn damage is OP while 2 turns is useless. Then maybe the compromise is 3 turns.

I agree completely. 2 is definitely slightly underpowered, while 4 was way too strong. 3 was a good compromise, and I asked here to either make it 3 turns or 4 turns at a lower damage per turn. Either would have been fine, but I’m definitely dissatisfied with them decreasing his damage fully by half

I think is like JF nothing special like hit or do any direct damage. Those type of hero’s I don’t really like. I face JF many times in battle and be honest I don’t really feel like do any damage to my team with his burn damage. My opinion Azlar is classic hero and his more powerful than JF 100 time’s

Well, I was very disappointed with the change in JF prior to release. After using him for a while, I gotta admit, he is not useless. He is just average. Not the worst, just ok.

I would have preferred 3 turn damage, coz it would take 3 turns to charge him up again anyway. But, even at 2 turns, he is very useful to kill off almost dead heroes, especially in the corner, where it is very difficult to line up gems under it. He is also good for killing counterattack heores like Elena, boril, and cyprian, especially if they are on the flank. But he is still my best red attacker. So, gotta use what you got!

He probably won’t do well on defense, but again he is the best red defense hero I got, so I am going with Lianna with CB, JF, Ursena, drake Fong, misandra.

Personally I like those type of heroes on the offensive because they bypass riposte and most defensive buffs without the hero taking damage. I hate them on the defense when I am attacking for that reason.

He seems quite squishy would appreciate any tips on how to get the best out of him

Does anyone use JF as tank on defense team with maximum emblemed him for defenssive path? tell me how is he in this role?

After used JF i felt he is average hero. But he is a hotm!!! If you compare him to vela or telluria you feel he is useless… i hope you can put him more competitive.

I’m specially interested in how he stands in the center with pumping def+hp path on emblems. should be unpleasant as tank, with his defensive skills against ice.

How could a defense kings-BK-Telly-JF-Joon works?

Hi I bring you Jean Francois possible talent paths + full levelled epic troops combinations… Wizard class is the only one where defense and vit paths are the same… so there is no need to put the VIT path on this image

that’s just what interests me in the opinions of those who have JF with such stats as TANK on their teams. is he cool like that?

not my normal defense but I’ll try this for a day. So far won 9 out of 13 on defense. Jf had been on the Defense>attack>hp route

Oh man, Tell is 10x a better tank than JF

I know, just testing it out for fun. Either way should hold me in diamond so it shouldn’t matter.

True true

Euphoria, thanx) I will wait for your feedback))) I think JF+Tella+Vela are the golden trio, that can be mixed as you like and the result will be great anyway, I dont have Vela, planning to use Magni or Rich.
