Reason being that in the beta beat thread it was pointed out that 4 of this hero, with 14% mana regen from troops/talents on each, you can fire specials infintely. And it leaves you a spot in the team for a purple hitter, who will fire infinitely. You could theorhetically take 4 Griffex plus 1* Nightshade and beat any team/challenge event/world map stage once you get the first cast.

And the obvious rule patch coming in Version 58 Release Notes & Status:
