Congrat again then

On the one hand, wow SG finally listened to a longtime player request? This could be really huge for a bunch of us with old heroes sans costumes! (Including, as noted above, Fated Summons picks!) :hushed:

On the other hand, I hope that the final gem cost wonā€™t beā€¦ TOO high, because while something like finally getting Arielā€™s costume (already almost 3 years old at time of this post) or Gravemakerā€™s costume (already 3 years old at time of this post) or Mother Northā€™s costume (nearly 3 years old at time of this post) ā€“ or of course Lord Lokiā€™s costume ā€“ would be a very welcome upgradeā€¦

ā€¦it would still hardly make them competitive heroes in PvP, for instance. I donā€™t mind paying some gems to make an old hero significantly more usable - and 300 gems would seem a remarkable deal! - but 7500 gems would seem kinda high (is it worth dropping the equivalent of nearly 40 USD to upgrade a hero to ā€œthree years agoā€?)

I hope that the gem cost stays low, not only for general accessibility, but also because older costumes canā€™t be much of money spinners at current portals anyway; how many folks spend money to actively chase the chance of a 2-3 year old costume at a portal vs spending that money to chase the chance of a modern monster?

I mean, look at Tavern of Legends: the idea of getting selecting featured heroes is nice in principle, insofar as it gives one a (very small) chance of getting a costume for an old HotMā€¦ except all the Champion heroes are hilariously stronger, so likely most every player who doesnā€™t have a full Champion set is going to pick them to feature over pretty much any costume.

So:

I like that this is an idea finally coming to some sort of fruition.

The devil really will be in the details (the gem price). --If very few players are actively spending to get old costumes, then even a very modest gem price is still a win for SG and for players.

After so many years of playing and seeing so many hero nerfs, this news has been one of the few that has excited me since I started playing E&P. I would like this event to be very recurrent, not be so expensive and allow the purchase of at least 2 costumes per event. Just 1 is too little.

The skeleton of this idea is pretty cool.

However, the execution as described (and suspected) seems like a way to drain our Gems with the illusion of making our rosters more competitive. Limiting the choices to severely outdated heroes removes that illusion for me.

Heroes from 6 months ago havenā€™t aged as well as those who chased them expected. Imagine how obsolete heroes from 1 1/2 years ago will impact usā€¦

Good move if gem prices stay at this rate. Doubt that will happen.

300/200/100 is definitely doable for f2p. If Zynga keeps gem tax at these levels, :tada::tada::tada:

I can finally pick up costumes for some essential ā€œbenchedā€ heroes.

i dont see SG pricing this any lower than 3000 gems for legends. And wondering if there will be a limit on number of cards we can pull per event.

There sure is !! Itā€™s one costume per event.

Well if you have another fast edd in red thenā€¦

Really a comment I needed to see here as an ftp!!!

A tad selfish there, arent we?

That would be a VERY dumb move because the most intrested clientele is probabely ftp to ctpand I dont think this segment would spend that much very often.

I could live with less!

Finally an idea which is:

  • very welcomed by community
  • recovers old heroes on the bench
  • helps to be a little more competitive even if you are not a hecking whale
  • fills a hole in the game system (missing costumes)

So after a long time a very very good idea and happy to see that.

I wonder if there is anyone who still has a costume without a Hero to wear it ?

This happened as the original Costume Chamber only gave the costume.

In this Visiting Outfitter you can select costumes for your existing heroes.

So the player select a hero and oay up 300 gems, then the outfit come out that hero with oldest costume?
So will give you the oldest costume of any selected classic hero?

Thatā€™s cool

Thatā€™s going to be a big pool of costumes. I make it a least 150 Heroes, which will have grown by the time this gets released.

Maybe my Vivica can finally get her first costume

The idea is very good but it will depend on the final costs. I saw some ridiculous comments like 3000, even 7500 gem cost for a trade. You guys realize that is cost only big spenders can cover? Not to mention we are talking about old heroes and not some META monsters.

For a one time event every 2-3 months this current costs look fine. Donā€™t give them your ā€œOKā€ for that increase because they follow forum. SG wonā€™t bankrupt if they are for once on the giver side for old costumes that are no part of the high end play anyway.

300 gems does sound quite cheap but more than 1000 would be ridiculous

Realistically none of the 18 month old costimes are remotely competitive at the top end of P2P, and even at mid-diamond level (around 3000 cups) most of them are just going to be utility options to swap in once in a while rather than the main part of an attack/defence team.

Since the main audience is going to be F2P/C2P who arent drowning in gems, I would say around 1000 gems kind of feels right. 300 would be even better, of course.

Its a really good idea though, I think the difficulty of obtaining semi-decent (let alone competitive) heroes does put people off the game, so if it was possible to obtain an 18 month old hero every 2-3 months that would be a huge incentive to play (and buy materials, etc). And it isnt going to affect the top of the game at all, since none of those heroes are competitive at that level. It also makes Fated Summon relevant again, which is great since the game desperately needs a proper pity timer.

Looking forward to all the threads going ā€œis it worth spending my gems for Xxx costume for YYY hero?! Help!ā€

I identify a repeating motif in which it seems that people confuse between FTP players and casual players.
I, as a FTP, gain close to 3k free gems a month (something like 2.6k). Of course I would prefer to pay 300 gems over 3k gems for a costume, but nobody should say on my behalf that I cannot afford 3k for a key costume that I want, or that only big spenders can do so. Some FTP players are far from being casual and are actually very engaged with the game.
