This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the April 2025 HOTM, Claeg

All Information from Beta is Subject to Change!

Don’t get attached

Details from beta, especially brand-new beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual hero release.

It’s incredibly common that heroes are changed during beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of skills to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to stats to be made.

Or: How many summons are needed to get a HOTM?

Special thanks to @Garanwyn for assistance on summoning odds and proofreading for this section.

It’s important to remember that HOTM have very low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a HOTM.

On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 12.3% chance of summoning the HOTM.

But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.

Some useful insights:

  • 73 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 100
  • 95 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 229
  • 99 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 352

Putting that in Perspective

  • 27 out of every 100 people won’t get the HOTM by the 100th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 100 times, 270,000 of those players wouldn’t get the HOTM

  • 5 out of every 100 people won’t get the HOTM by the 229th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 229 times, 50,000 of those players wouldn’t get the HOTM

More Insights & Reading

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:

If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

I am curious if the extra +5% healing applies to uncleansable ailments as well. (This is prone to bugs since it requires different treatment to which ailments interact with the healing aspect of the skill and which ailments interact with the cleanse aspect of the skill)

I would have liked this hero more if it was medium speed with 35%-50% healing instead of fast with 20%-35%.

Not excited. I’m really in need of fast blue healers but I think I better pick a second Milena from FS because she heals 25% at 6 tiles and cleanses all

Meh

Is this the first fast healer HOTM?

Milena has a better special, but claeg comes with ~20% better stats. Given I don’t use Milena too often nowadays, I can see claeg being my top blue healer.

I will still prefer c.Ariel and Milena over him. If I ever pull him, he goes to SE oven.

I hope he can at least heal 35% plus X ailments x N%, even though this won’t make him very good anyway.

Toon Rigard just outright has a much better special skill than this.

Rigard is 45% heal (this hero is 20%)

Rigard cleanses everything (this hero only cleanses 3)

Rigard gives +34% defence to everyone, (this gives +30% only to Ice, and only against special skills)

Yeah this is fast speed but its meant to be a 5* card.

another month, another underwhelming HOTM, what’s new

Would’ve been something if it was priority cleanse, atm is meh at best. Beside the fact that cleanse needs to be rationed out, only 3 cleanse here and 1 cleanse there in another hero, good old cleanse all RIP

Even cartoon Kiril is better than this hero, since both, in 90% of cases will carry three combinations.

Not to mention Defence up ignore the “Dmg after Defence down removed” type of Defense Down from Pepperflame or Pophit.

This hero cleanse it so perfect to take dmg. Defence up overwrite the dmg from those special Defence down is so much more useful than cleanse :rofl:

Make 10% heal for each ailment up to 55% heal and he’s fine to go.

Suzuna? She’s also blue
Generally, Ice HOTMs seem to like being healers (Alexandrine, Rafael… in a sense, Aegir too  )

“Claeg” is the sound I make when I stub my toe.

I can understand why SGG had decided it’s more balanced for a hero to cleanse/dispel a specific number of ailments. But this seems like a weird limitation for this hero. Even as a C2P player without the high standards of folks playing at the top, I think I’d still find this Claeg disappointing if they were “cleanse all.”

I’d pay more attention if it were “safely cleanse 3 ailments.” And then I’d feel the restriction makes more sense.

Ah thank you! At least Claeg heals all allies. I also note that Grazul heals the entire team at very fast speed

Depending on your point of view, Hanitra could be seen as a fast healer, though you need to dodge their special to get the boosted health. Alternatively, she’s a support hero who, with RNG on your side, also happens to heal.
