In my case, I’m looking at my reds with particular thought on defense teams such as in war. I recently used three alpha aethers for a second limit break to Kelile and a fourth alpha aether to bring her second (sorcerer) costume up to match. (Curiously, without leveling the original version, I’ve been able to get well on with leveling up the costume).
It’s already got to the stage where the Kelile costume is on 989 power while my former red go-to, Elena, is still on 902 power.
(In my case, red is the only colour of mana troop that I’ve so far managed to get up to level 17 but I believe that this works fine with my Kelile as her talent grid enabled, +4% mana speed, would effectively enable the troop to operate at the equivalent of 29th level so as to bring her tile requirement down from 8 to 7).
Overall I think that this is an example of a lower-star hero that, by limit breaking, can supersede a higher-star hero, but please correct me if I’m missing something.
In what other cases would this or wouldn’t this apply?
I wouldn’t judge strictly on the power number. Klaern can reach 996, but he’s still one of the worst out there. There are several 4* that people use on offense & defense, especially when they are on their 2nd costume. Ever seen Treevil as a tank during wars. One of the reasons for the Big Balance Update was to buff newer 5* to make them more powerful than many of the 4* with 2LB.
A 4* hero with double LB is easily better than an older 5* hero (and sometimes even a newer 5* hero) without limit break. It’s what it is and I see nothing wrong with it.
Older heroes need to have costume, lb them and only then they will be on par with newer heroes. Then what happens when the newer heroes gets costume?
And the funny part is this season 1 heroes is everywhere when we summon, they are mostly in every summon portals. This is without costume! At least, give them with costume laa…
Certainly, for my contribution to wars, i would have done better to limit break two costumed 4 stars than one non-costumed 5 star. 4 star costumes come up quite frequently and I wish I’d invested my alpha aethers in them sooner. (The boost i’d have gotten in epic tournaments would also have helped).
Except that you won’t get attacked as much in those tournaments.
I started breaking 3’s and 4’s and since alpha aethers came out I haven’t been attacked on day 1 of a tournament. So I start every tournament with a C on defense. The first tournament was a 3* tournament after alphas and I wasn’t attacked the entire tournament.
It’s like the matchmaking struggles to find opponents.
The last tournament was a 4* and when I finally got attacked it was from the leader of the avengers with a 5200 tp team.
So I guess double LBed (3&)4 stars won’t be a benefit in tournament defense teams but, there, they can just be left on the bench.
However, until a player has double LBed 30 5 stars for war, I’d have thought that double-LBing some (costume) 4 stars would be an efficient initial use of resources. They’d also be great assets in tournament attack teams.
