More Insights & Reading
I highly recommend reading these three threads for more information and context on summoning odds:
If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

The hero that least needed a costume in the game, and its in a portal which absolutely noone should ever summon in (because the coins are better spent in the UT2 portal)
Not even sure if its better than the original. It probably is. The first charge is worse but the second charge is better, and since its only ever going to be used against (mystic) titans then you can charge it with mana pots anyway.
Couple things in this post that I disagree with/are incorrect plus one I agree with:
First:
No offense intended, but this is terrible advice. Yes, there are some good heroes in UT2, and many are better than UT1. But there are some great heroes in UT1 with excellent costume bonuses including:
a) Passive skill - Resistance to insanity. Applies to both costume and base. A real game changer in Ancient Terror wars.
b) Legendary heroes get a nice stat boost and 5% mana. This is huge for changing tides. When it is on Fast charge u need 15% mana to drop a tile. With legendary troops, you can only get there with a Druid/Sorcerer level 20 talent node or by bringing a Bard/mana boost hero.
Second:
Shark’hai is of course great vs Mythic Titans (esp if you don’t have Gastille), but he is also a phenomenal hero in tournaments. He is worthwhile in several formats and is one of the best heroes in 4* Buff Boosters (maybe even the best as the BB attack boost stacks with Shark’s attack boost for some crazy powered hits)
Now for the agreement:
This is sadly true of all UT1 costumes. I dont know why they did this and frankly it is very annoying. I only have a couple UT1 costumes so I cant speak for all of them but for Phorcys I leveled costume for bonuses but only use the base since it gets the insanity resistance passive and has auto-taunt that his costume doesnt have.
Unfortunately the stat bonuses for Epic and Rare UT1 heroes isnt anywhere near as good as Legendary (they really need to at least increase mana boost over 1%). I still use Shark’s base for now and only leveled costume a few levels for a little bonus. I may come back and finish it off after I complete a couple other priority projects. But right now it wasnt worth diverting feeders for another 1% atk/def and 2% more hp. Not when I may not even use the costume as there are many times you dont get the tiles to quickly get to 2nd charge.
Anyway, thats my take on Shark’hai and the portal in general. Main point being there are still plenty of reasons to summon in both UT1 and UT2.
