So, as more 3* comes out, and classic ones get 1, 2 and a toon costume… which ones are now worth KEEPING? For example, I always throw away Valen, Bane, Prisca, Balthazar… and plenty more, but now these have Toon costumes, and I like to play in raids and challenge events, are they and others worth keeping and maxing all costumes and even worth LB1 and Lb2?
I know it will also depend on the roster, but try to answer this as a “general” question for anyone with a “deep enough” roster, because it’s good to have variety and options, right?
This portal for costumes I got Bane, Kailani and Valen toon costumes, I dont have any of those heroes anymore, but naturally I fed them all away without even thinking - just habit. But I am really curious who is truly worth keeping and maxing nowadays.
If you play competitive in the events, then most likely you would want to have Gunnar c, Nordri, Ulmer c and few strong hitters (i use Yao). There are some red and green options if ice is reflected (Buster, Begreg, Zarola, Dolgoon…).
If your roster isn’t deep enough for MT, few Nordri, Boots, Berulf, Melia, Roxia… can be decent for replacing those fatigued heroes.
General use, several Shrubbears can save you in rush attack wars, Faez can prevent aliments and can be used in rush also, Dawn for mana control can be used sometimes (in 3* tourneys for sure), Kvasir (to prevent minions), Felton for buff reflect…
As a very general and simple answer: If the original was good, the toon is better. So anything that had a special that was good, but not good enough to make a team, now probably is worth having.
One special area of use would be rush tournaments where the toon passive is a very good Treevil counter. And the costume bonus in many cases makes 6 tile skills possible. Druids/Monk/Sorc by themselves all others in addition to Zarel.
Which specific heroes to use is less important, but factor in Superior talents as well, so especially Wizards are top notch, as an example: Balthazar is an absolute powerhourse now in any tournament type. Probably the hardest hitting 3 star now? plus dispel on both tiles and skill. Fighters and Rogues are highly annoying. Monks and Clerics in addition to the passive are close to 100% immune.
So that includes a rather big range of highly powerful heroes (7 out of 10 classes have something big going for them) just from the addition of all the extras they get. All they need is a half-way acceptable skill on the original and you have a top-notch hero.
I got curious myself how many top-notch (not all of the toon) heroes that actually includes (current and future)
Wizards: Balthazar, Ulmer
6tile rush (Monk/Druid/Sorc): Belith, Bane, GanJu, Jahangir
Fighter: Valen
Rogue: Carver
Cleric: Hawkmoon (although the C1 may still be better even without the toon passive, depending on use)
Out of the other 3 classes that don´t become automatically good, I would most of all mention Tyrum, he´s already a useful utility hero as original, so the toon will definitely be top notch. Other heroes worth considering include: Karil and to a lesser extent Isshtak (who got badly outclassed by Zarola: both used mainly in events, but with toon bonus might become top notch for especially rush tourneys. Azar and Berden: fast speed snipers with utility, currently maybe just not good enough, but with toon bonus will get a good boost and be seen again more often (but maybe not format dominating anywhere).
So I would say around 10 toons will become top notch (meaning among the very best) for some aspect or other of 3 star world.
On top of that of course I would max others, just for the CB to the C1 version (like Gunnar, Renfeld, Hawkmoon).
Another thought: In a full toon team, buffs would be essentially undispellable, which could make Kailani and Gunnar an interesting choice again. They have become mostly useless with dispel becoming readily available in 3 star world as well as multiple options for defdown to overwrite them. I wonder if the Toon passive would also prevent the overwriting with DD?
