To be honest, no matter what team I use for my defense, I expect to do badly because I had an A grade every day last week, so it will come back and karma will bite me and it will be the opposite this week, no doubt.
So I am not going to overthink it at all and I will go with the following

Learned things the hard way. Joukahainen & cGunnar are very incompatible. Totally forgot that cGunnar’s “share dmg all enemies” is a buff that will get dispelled or blocked by Joukahainen. Exactly like how Wilbur and Melendor’s specials interact.

I went with this. Figured that the attack buff from cKailani + ddown, shared damage from cGunnar could do wonders, and so far defense has been 5-1.
Offense 5-0, went 3-2 style all fights with pretty much every team being different.

4-1 to begin this week. Was a bit weird having a 3* tournament without any trees.
Attacked using 3-1-1 formation with 2 healers.
- Frosty - cUlmer - Joukahainen - Sally - Faiez vs Red tanks
- cHawkmoon - Bauchan - Sudri - Faiez - Joukahainen vs Green tanks
- Noril - Faiez - Noril - Sally - Frosty vs Blue and Yellow tanks
Boards were OK except for the one loss against this team
Went with 3 Reds because of Faiez and Sudri and got possibly the worst type of board. Lots of disjointed Reds as ammo for the opposing Sudri. Sally and Sudri fired back to back and even my Faiez’s hp boost wasn’t enough to prevent a zero. Just one of those Rush Attack specials
Defense hasn’t been tested yet

Day 1
O: 4-1
D: 3-0 A
1st fight (victory)
It was very strange defense - without healer, but quite passive. Bear just took many blows and then he died. I had time to charge calmly my heroes and win.
2nd fight (victory)
This time two healers but both in the corners (why???). I was able to charge Faiez before Ei-Dunn fired (he helped me a lot) and then I destoyed the offensive trinity in the middle. Two survived healers couldn’t stop me.
3rd fight (victory)
Maybe good tank, but Jarif on his right flank was the weak point of this defense IMO (I don’t understand why would he be good hero). Belith did her job well and neutralised the force of tank. After really long battle I won.
4th fight (defeat)
Defense similar to the previous one, but much stronger. New blue hero is really good. He destroyed the protection afforded by Faiez. This time (after another long battle) I have failed.
I will add with the sun family (3 heroes in this defense) have very powerfull bonus.
5th fight (victory)
Second defense with Bear - this time also with healers. It wasn’t easy battle, but I have won. I think I could have failed if that player would switch places Jahangir and Hawkmoon (and took the mirror image of such a defense).

Lost the last one: start was promising, but then the board dried up, and waqas just wrecked me

I tried to be picky the first couple of battles and select a team that i thought had good counters to the opposing heroes, and got slaughtered. Then i just winged it with my mono green and won the next three. this was interesting, though:
max emblem Jenneh down there on the right. don’t see a 2* in a tournament that often.

5-0 on offense today, 5-1 currently on defense.
flag 4 opponent: Ulmer, Sally, Kvasir, Sally, Sudri.
flag 5 opponent: Bertulf, Jing, Sally, Yao, Li
on offense for both of those flags, i went Helo, Grevle, Kvasir, Bauchan, and Shrubbear. Kvasir vs. Kvasir worked for me because i had Helo’s cleanse to enable my own minions, and i got Shrubbear in time before both Sallies fired.
looking at my offense though, you’d think i’d have trouble inflicting damage, but a few things happened:
- Helo’s cleanse on flag 4 meant i could bring my own Kvasir minions against future Kvasir minions.
- Bauchan’s mana gain buff actually helped Kvasir stack more minions both for the snip damage and the poison ticks.
- Bauchan’s special did some damage combined with Grevle’s attack up. the mana gain buff also helped Bauchan fire more often. Bauchan doesn’t deal much damage in the grand scheme, but with the minion summoner disabled and no other healing, all that damage was sticking pretty nicely.
on flag 5, Kvasir came up just in time to neutralize all the W3K heroes and their minions. Shrubbear took all the damage thanks to Taunt, and Sally was also rendered ineffective thanks to Shrubby.

Go with same tactic. The board is average today. Face only passive tank in all attack so I have more time to charge me heroes.
I somehow face low team power defense in 4th attack
This is the easiest one fore sure. Only x3 of my C Ulmer is enough to kill them all .

Flipping between B and C grade. Luckily, I end day 1 with B grade

it’s incredibly tough to go up against max emblemed LB’d 3s when your 3s are not. their power to your health stat ratio is a major factor. anyway, continued to wing it and go mono green for all 5 because all the tanks were either green or blue. only lost to one with a Jarvur tank because it also had Noril, Wabbit, and Berden, and i accidentally set off a huge cascade and they just instantly maimed me to where i could not recover. not a zero though.
D doing so-so on the poor side. maybe cKailani tank wasn’t the best choice? hard to say. currently in top 25% with 4168 points, rank 107343.
good luck on day 3 bein’ tree-free! hopefully i can at least squeak through tomorrow.

First match of the day was against a Faiez tank flanked by Sally and Waqas. Took 3 Reds (cHawkmoon + Sudri + Jahangir) + Belith and Jouka for the dispel. Got 6 Red tiles to charge up Hawkmoon and Jahangir but not before Faiez had fired once. Waited for one of the dispellers to charge, but opposing Waqas and Sally fired first. The wing Noril just finished things off for a zero.
Next up was a Kornel tank flanked by Shrubby and Nordri. Went 3 Blue this time and got blasted by the wing Sudri… Another zero and I thought my tournament will be ending quickly.
Woke up a bit and won the next 3 against weaker teams but still one loss away from the 4th. And with my defense going from 1-0 after Day 1 to 1-2 today, might pack it in tomorrow

Day 2: 4-1. Lost hopelessly to this team:
Jokahainen rendered my hawkmoon useless, and in no time everyone was at double health. 0.
So it seems I also have trouble with faiez/jokahainen. Haven’t pulled faiez yet, but my copy of jok is being leveled.
Defense ended yesterday with 0-0, but suffered 2 losses today.
