Log & Guide to Raid Tournaments
A Log of past Tournaments, and an overview of how Raid Tournaments work, including Special Rules and Restrictions, Attacking, Matchmaking, Defense Grade, Scoring, and Rewards.
On the first day of the tournament, I managed to avoid defeat in attack, but the opponents were not too demanding. Only in the fight against Gazelle did I have any difficulties.
Still in the middle of leveling up Thalassa and Leonidas (he has toon stats), but so far it’s been working fine, so no complaints.
Attacks were surprisingly varied with only 2 yellow tanks out of 5 attacks, both of which I won with my Hippo team without any problems. Then I started going tactical and lost the final 2 fights because I thought I could perhaps counter their green tanks with 3 red attackers and/or counter their buffers/debuffers with Daemon, but of course it didn’t work since the tiles will never co-operate if you have a plan.
O: 3-2
D: 4-2 (A)
I’ve learned my lesson and I’m probably gonna faceroll with Hippo for the rest of the tournament.
I had 1 loss to a Willow tank, she kept going off and well, that was it basically. I did manage to kill her and someone else, but it was too late. So I at least got 2 kills so it was 300+ points instead of 0
Don’t have any super buffer heroes or massive damage ones, so going safety first with a reviver (Dabria) + a booster (Arco). The other 3 were changed depending on the tank and defenders. Mostly went Green stack with Ferrus + Liu Bei with the Cardinal or Lord Loki filling up the team.
6000+ team from the start and won 4 before running up against a double Ginger, double Goblin team.
First match was against a Persa tank. Don’t have many 5* cleansers and decided to try out Ignazio despite just being level 80. I have Aino at 85 but she just doesn’t have as much synergy with my offensive heroes. Attacked with Dabria - Ferrus - Cardinal - Torben - Ignazio. Persa fired first and her poison spread, but eventually got the Red tiles to heal, cleanse, and kill.
As I don’t like (read : too lazy) to switch teams, continued using them the other 4 matches. Only brought in Xiaotu once against a team with a cLotL flank. Was very impressed with Ignazio’s heal. Faced an Erlang Shan team, and was worried that the attack up buff will trigger the damage from his ailment. The 1000+ hp heal was enough to survive the 800+ damage from the attack down being removed prematurely. Boards were good and only lost one hero the whole day. A minor miracle with the last 3 defenses way above my pay-grade.
Defense was 0-3 after the first day and not confident of it recovering. Attack will need to contribute the bulk of the points for a good ranking.
I don’t know why, but the second tournament day is usually the most difficult. However, today I went 5-0 by facerolling with Hippo as predicted. Faced some amazing team setups including a Myon-Ni tank flanked by 2 Shaals, lots of toons and goblins, but it turns out tactics are for gimps, firepower solves everything. Defense is holding up really well. Looking forward to tomorrow!
I didn’t even have a good board, and they kept going off, I was screwed from the start, but at least I went 4-1, could have been worse, I thought I was going to lose my first match against a Brimstone, he went off but I somehow survived and won
First goal of any 5* tournament is to survive past Bloody Wednesday. Coming in with a 9-1 record, was expecting to face some tough defenses.
First up was a cMN - Ghealach - cBK - Ahmose - tAzlar defense. Stacked Blue but decided to use Lord Loki instead of Krampus to go with my twin Pengis. Ended up being a good decision as I managed to copy Ahmose’s hit all and Pengis’ minions slashed cMN and tAzlar before they could fire.
Another Red tank in the 2nd match (Blossom - Shaal - Aradia - Cel - Haulstone), but this time went with 3 Reds + Dabria and Ferrus because I wanted Ignazio for the cleanse and Xiaotu to block Cel’s minion stoneskin. Tough match again as Xiaotu died early from Aradia’s fire. My Dabria survived to bring her back to life and eventually got the win thanks to Cardinal’s fiends and Ferrus’ poison/bleed combo.
Last 3 matches were easier, not because the teams were (Tanks were Quinn, Constance, Thalassa with 6.5, 6.3 and 6.5k TP) but because I got great boards in the colours (Green or Red) that I needed.
Didn’t even need to make the Diamond and went for the Dragon cascade instead. Match was over in a couple of moves.
Too bad that my defense is stinking at 0-7 Still, happy to be going into Day 4 with a 14-1 record. Though, tomorrow’s defenses will probably be much worse.
Today was unbelievably annoying.
I went 3–0 then my 4th match had 2 revivers. I managed to kill 4 heroes after a long struggle, then it was 2 of mine vs Costume Heimdall, he revived 3 heroes, and what happened? Yep, they all fired specials and I lost. So I only got the score for one kill in that.
The last match I killed 3, but lost. it was giving no tiles to charge my special. And in both matches I lost, they targeted my attackers and left my healer + defence down (smarttongue)… so I HAD to rely on tiles, which I wasn’t getting.
Oh well, defence is still A, but that’s annoying that I am out - the 4th match is the one annoying me. But it is what it is.
Day 4 and up in the 6500+ defenses, the kind I would immediately reroll if raiding to fill a chest. Could have been a nightmare but got the best streak of boards that I can ever remember.
Got a diamond for the first match as well, but here are the next 3 (2 starting and 1 after 1 move).
After the introduction of LB2, the game became extremely complicated for players who do not buy Alfa balls for real money. They have to constantly make choices about who to break and who not to break, because Alphas are gained very slowly…
Each of us should understand that playing for free will be very difficult for him in 5* tournaments (legendary heroes generate the highest costs during LB).
I understood this and that’s why I can still have fun taking part in tournaments. Now I’m 15-5… I spent 75 gems to keep playing… why? Because sometimes I like to win against teams that are several hundred points stronger than my maximum TP and have the satisfaction that I chose the right team to beat them
This game can still be fun… As long as we forget about the desire to be the best and treat it like a puzzle… We won’t always be able to solve the puzzle, so we won’t always be able to win the fight
