Understanding War Equalizer and Minion/Fiend Abilities

I feel like many people still don’t understand what minion abilities work and don’t work so hopefully this makes it easy.

WHAT GETS REMOVED BY WAR EQUALIZER?

•Any minion/fiend ability that gives ailments or buffs to a hero.

WHAT DOESN’T GET REMOVED BY WAR EQUALIZER?

•Any minion ability that is applied at end of turn or is contact based.

•Fiend’s attack and ability to absorb healing.

EXAMPLES:

Hulda minions have 3 abilities. The first one is healing and remains active, because it’s not a buff or ailment. Notice the highlighted part that shows it is applied at the end of the turn. Any minion abilities that say this remain functional despite the War Equalizer.

However, the mana generation and raised defense are both buffs and will be removed, but are active between the time they are summoned and the War Equalizer activation and will require Hulda to use her special skill in order to temporarily restore those abilities.

Waterpipe’s minion abilities are applied when the minion makes contact with the enemy and is highlighted, because all Minion abilities that are based on contact, remain active and are not removed when the War Equalizer is activated.

However, there is one exception to this. The minions will continue to make enemy heroes lose 5% Mana per hit because it’s an instant effect, but what about the ailment that prevents enemy buffs for two turns?

When a contact based ailment is given, it will be removed by the War Equalizer activation. The difference from other minion ailments is that as long as those minions are alive and hitting targets, they are repetitively giving that ailment over and over again. Contact based ailments can replenish upon next contact and doesn’t require WP to fire his special ability for his minion’s ailment ability to come back into effect in comparison to other abilities obtained from a minion being present.

CONCLUSION:

Minion abilities applied at the end of the turn are unaffected by War equalizer.

Minion abilities that have instant effects on contact are unaffected by War Equalizer.

Minion ailments given on contact will be removed by the War Equalizer being activated, but are able to reactivate on next contact in which the hero using a special is not needed to replenish the removed ailment. A minion simply needs to make contact with an enemy hero again and the ailment is restored.
