Titan attack and defense values

This was intended as a thread for collecting data on the defense values of titans, but we quickly got all of the data and even more thanks to our oracle @Elioty33 :blush: :+1:.

  • Titans range from 1* to 14* with lots of different HP values and 5 different regular titans for each colour that populate overlapping HP ranges
  • There are also the 5 rare titans, one for each colour starting from 5*, I think
  • There are also the 5 mystic titans, also one for each colour, but with unlimited HP.

So far, we only have had information on the HP and special skills of titans. With the new owl heroes and their Moonrise Strike mechanic we got the opportunity to get a precise titan defense value.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Our oracle connected the crystal ball to the titan hotline and got all the data on attack and defense values. I allocated the values to the titan stars as follows:

Each of these defense, attack and HP values follows a clear sequence, so they are very convincing. :blush:

The few defense values I had derived so far (13 14 21 values at present) from the MR Strike formula fit very well, but sometimes are +1 or +2 higher for unknown reasons.

The data from the titan hotline also makes clear

  • colour plays no role for the titan stats
  • rare titans have the same stats like regular titans
  • titans with the same HP have the same attack and defense

Initially, the following description informed on the method for deriving the titan defense values from the MR Strike formula:

As titans are tied to the Titan Score of the alliance, this project would have required help from a lot of volunteers to cover all titans.
Everybody was welcome to join in and provide missing data via screenshots, but this is not necessary anymore as we got all of the data :grin:.

The data collecting process is relatively simple (not required anymore - already finished):

  • Use an owl hero with Moonrise Strike against a titan.
  • Fill the owl’s mana with mana potions and fire the owl’s special while tapping and holding on the owl to show the owl’s stats
  • take a screenshot when the damage shows up, while the owl stats are shown (recording the battle as a video helps in getting the perfect moment for the screenshot)
  • report here with the screenshot

With such a screenshot we have
(1) the MR Strike max damage, here 720
(2) the owl’s attack value, here 487
(3) the extra damage against holy targets, here +25% but the target isn’t holy, therefore it is not applicable for now
(4) the damage, here 374
(5) the titan type and colour, here the primal lizard, a blue titan, and
(6) the titan’s HP, here 1,320,000

The formula for the Moonrise Strike damage is (converted to MR max damage):
Moonrise Strike damage = max damage / 2000 x (attack - defense) + max damage / 2 x (1 + damage increase) (round down)
with
damage increase = owl’s increased damage % against holy, if target is holy, otherwise 0

To get the target’s defense value we solve for defense:
Target’s defense = max damage / 2000 x (max damage / 2000 x attack - damage + max damage / 2 x (1 + damage increase))

Now we simply put these values from the screenshot into this formula and get

=> Primal Lizard’s defense = 448 defense = 2000/720 x (720/2000 x 487 - 374 + 720/2 x (1 + 0%))

I was also faced with the problem how to present the data in a usable/readable way :grin:
Maybe may attempt with these tables can help :blush:

It will be very interesting to see which values the titans can have. My first few data points for defense point to some small variations. So I imagine that each titan has a small range available for attack and defense, and the range depends on the titan’s stars and to which of the titan groups the titan belongs.

What is the value of knowing a Titan’s defense value?

An improved understanding of the situation.
You can make comparisons.
You can make better plans and improve and optimize your teams.

Players in small alliances may lose their fear of the bigger titans, if their (attack and) defense values are not that much higher than those of your current titans.

How? Sorry for my ignorance but I thought about this and I don’t think knowing the defense value of a titan would have any impact on my titan team construction.

How do the stats change with wither/growth? How does that compare to my normal Wilbur defense down.

If you have several options for your team, some players want to check with accurate data instead of gut feeling, which setup would have more damage potential or how much damage potential you would lose, if you replace a hero with one that would improve survivability.

Of course, tile damage is basically the go to mechanic for maximum damage against titans. So you probably want to simply maximise your team’s combined attack value while also maximising attack up buffs and defense down debuffs and crit buffs and all of that in the strong colour.

But there is no perfect solution and you have to make some compromises. And most players do not have all heroes available. So they may have to use some 4* instead of 5*, trading lower stats for a better special. Or you may want to use heroes from a neutral colour because of their superior special (e.g. Athena for her powerful DD).

There are also special mechanics like DoT, minions, wither/grow and Moonrise Strike, that can provide interesting alternatives/additions to your usual setup.

The knowledge of a titan’s defense value allows you to investigate these mechanics and setups more accurately and make a better informed decision.

Should be something like this :slight_smile: I checked some of the figures against your @Zack and most of them matches and some have have just a slight margin of error. Overall, the stat progressions are +7% for attack, +0.5% for defense and +25% for HP of the base (level 1) stats and as usual, rounded down.

There is just one thing I am not sure, there is a level cap of 202 on attack and defense stat progression but I am not sure if level 202 should have same stats as level 201 or if I did it right with level 202 still having the increment over level 201 and it’s level 203 (and over) that got the same stats as level 202 (basically an off-by-1 error). So I would love to see someone apply your formula on a titan with 4488000, 4510000 and 4532000HP (and over) :smiley:

Monster Island titans have the same attack and defense stats but starts with 48000HP at level 1, with an increment of 12000HP per level.

Mythic Titans all have 300 defense and 4500 attack.

The game probably does not use all of those levels and I let you do the level to star mapping :stuck_out_tongue:

Everything except for Wither is a rate-based adjustment to defense. So it seems to me this might be only use case where knowing the defense value of a titan would help to optimize your tile damage. I didn’t think about that because I don’t have any goblins. Thanks for coordinating getting these values

Please note, that the adjustment diminishes for the second defense debuff. It was possible to verify this because S3 showed the exact defense values before and after. The effect of a third defense down can be expected to be diminished even further: (1 - X) x (1 - Y) x (1 - Z)

For a tile damage evaluation with the bi-linear damage formula I highly recommend to get the correct defense value (and the total attack of the same colour heroes, the attack buffs, damage buffs, damage debuffs and and crit buffs, etc.), so that the result is not too far off.

Not sure I understand. But here is how I imagine it working:

Assume Titan Defense = 1000
Fire 50% Defense Down. Titan Defense = 500
Fire Wither -100 Titan Defense = 450
50% Defense Down wears off. Titan Defense = 900
Fire 50% Defense Down. Titan Defense = 450
50% Defense Down wears off. Titan defense = 900
Fire Wither -100. Titan Defense = 800
Fire 50% Defense Down. Titan defense = 400

Does that look about right? In other words the Wither always applies to the base defense of the Titan up to the 70% maximum decrease. Any rate based adjustments (e.g. Def-) are applied after that. So in this scenario the lowest defense the titan could have would be 150. If Wither is cast 7 times and then 50% Def- is applied.

That is also how I imagine that the wither mechanic would work with DD, but I haven’t done any tests yet with my Boots, and I also haven’t seen any data on this. :upside_down_face:

Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to test this, because these titan levels belong to the hidden realm between 12* and 13* titans.

Very interesting, that all 13* and 14* titans have the very same attack (6781) and defense (701), and that only the HP increase from 4,576,000 to 5,720,000.

Is there a list of the actual HP values of these Apex monsters? Then we could make a list of their stats as well.

Thank you @Zack for updating the OP with my data and doing the star mapping. So on the possible off-by-one error on the level cap of 202, I would love someone who can to apply your initial method on a 13 or 14* titan to make sure I got it right or if I’m off by +/-1 level. :smiley: Anyone? :kissing_heart:

Indeed, but at least on actual 13 or 14* titan should be good enough to come to a fixed decision, see my previous post, we posted at the same time haha
We faced a couple of 13* titans recently but I don’t have any Owl hero :person_shrugging:

Not that I know of but if there is one (at least partial or with screenshots around to gather data from), it’s probably in the Monster Island master topic.
I expect the attack and defense level cap to apply to them the same way since they are exactly the same “monster type” as regular and rare titans in the game’s files.
