My Panther is also at +18 but went to the sword path as her already high attack stat seems to be her greatest strength. I dont think embleming her on defense path makes her really that sturdy. Besides, like rogues, you just crossed your fingers and hope the talent kicks in. Here’s mine:

Panther’s greatest strength is her elemental debuff (and dispel), so I want her to survive as long as possible to fire and greatly increase the damage the rest of my purple stack can do. She does some damage but it’s fairly insignificant on her own. Even going the full def/HP route she has 816 attack, which is “high enough”.
Also note I rely more on finding 9 tiles to wreck the defense with specials instead of maximizing tile damage since I don’t do mono anymore, so I’m ok with neutering her attack stat somewhat in favor of adding more durability.
I see. I just find mine to be of good service for me. Unlike Evelyn who is Panther’s green mirrror, the Teltoc hero already has high attack stat. Bolstering hers not only increases her damage potential from her special, it also increases the total damage output of the tiles, especially for monousers like me. Besides, her revive talent also has the chance to kick in. In my experience, she dies often and reviving a few times. But that is already given.
IMHO, glass cannons like her tend to have less survivability even if you emblem them in favor of the defense and health route. In most instances, she dies more times than reviving. But when she dies, my victory is already near at hand. My current go to monopurple team is her, with Alfrike, Kageburado, and Ametrine, all 3 fully emblemed on the attack route. Healer is costumed Rigard at +18. Sometimes, I swap some heroes there in favor of Seshat, Domitia on or off costume, Sartana, Clarissa, 2nd Rigard+18 unequipped costume, costumed Sabina, just for fun.
Panther is a weird case, because while she has glassy stats, her special doesn’t really take advantage of those stats much. Unlike Jackal who can be a serviceable 4* yellow sniper (and arguably the only semi-decent one prior to Griffin’s release) for 4* tourneys, Panther just really doesn’t do a whole lot of damage on her own, and is much more of a support hero. Since she is key to my purple 4tack working properly (as in 99% chance of killing 2-3 heroes with 9 tiles), I tried to juice out every extra bit of defense I could and also gave her a crit troop on top to add just a bit extra sturdiness.
Ametrine I took just enough attack nodes to get her attack over 800 and then went def/HP all the way. I want her to survive until x2 charge at least, so decided that giving her some extra durability was worth it. Nothing worse than losing a charged hero because you were 20 HP short.
But yeah again it all depends on your play style. Since I don’t do mono anymore, I rely more on finding 9 tiles to wreck them with specials instead of boosting tile damage to get rid of the tank asap to ghost. So I tend to take a more balanced route for support heroes even if they do some damage, with true snipers being the only ones I go full attack on.
So what did you decide? I have the same decision to make

Just to complicate things I pulled Bera this morning. Think I’ll still go with Killhare. We don’t run purple tanks for war so I think killhare will be better for attack

Agreed, Bera is a lot more versatile than Killhare, especially good for bloody battle, and she’s her own best counter.
The only thing is Bera will compete with Elizabeth for emblems. I have the fighter emblems to max killhare. Would you still go with Bera?
I’m in the same boat. I pulled lepiota, moreau, then hoping for lepus (my blues are weakest) i got 2 killhare at springvale (friggen 2…). Before i got first killhare i had ascended lepiota. She’s kinda niche, but she is fantastic vs taunt hero’s or other revivers like MoNo, or pita heros. I think killhare would be next though moreau would help w/ blind, esp on titans (which purple are toughest w/o panther - have all other elemental d-down). i’d pull emblems of tyr for killhare, but also have bera on my D. RNG has given good purples, yellows, and greens while the reds and blues are just mediocre at best
I use bera all the time, events (all those minions make good meat shields), vs any other minion maker heros (especially freya and bera, too toughest minions out there). she is amazing
Both Elizabeth and Bera are good. I would have both of them share emblems if offense. If on defense, Bera would be better. Neither are overly reliant on emblems to be effective.
I would still choose Bera over Killhare in this case.
Just an update. Finally got a Damascus blade and gave it to Bera. She’s almost maxed and I’m confident that I made the correct decision. Shes a beast and paired with freya is amazing. The bonus is we just switched to purple war tanks so it worked out perfectly. Thanks for the advice everyone!
