The argument for Li Xiu might be to do with the Class Change?
I know that @Scarecrow highly rates Costume Li Xiu for the Rogue Class Change

Well thatâs part of the argument I made above for my usage of her.
Must have missed it catching up with coffee!
Because I really want a specific costume and I really low on lucky with HOTM.
I never thought that would happen to me.
Itâs here, itâs the post @ChaosRocket was responding to: đ [Jan 20, 2020] Costume Event â The Masquerade â FAQ, Discussion & Summoning Results - #97 by zephyr1
Enjoy the
The team I brought to all levels and all levels beat. Used three Dragon Attacks to soften and keep the last stage bosses soft. Buddy and Zimkitha were the last two standing when all was said and done. But breezed through this, and if I had video of the cascades. It was like the fourth of July this morning.
I had five free keys from various loot. And gladly took the the five given to me in mail. Then I bought the offer, to get more keys. Did a total of ten individual pulls.
Managed to get Bane and Boldtuskâs costume on the first two pulls. Li Xiu was somewhere next, followed by more three star junk, and thenâŚ
She was a welcomed new hero! And to finish the morning, I used gems to get to what remained to open the bonus chest:
Woulda liked a better item!!! Compass? Puh-leaze.
Indifferent is my opinion of this event. Needless to say, I will not be using gems in the future, and I hope that the keys keep coming in loot. I am happy to have gotten Elena! And not just the costume. So thereâs that. Yeah. Indifferent.
Took 7 or 8 minutes in total but due to the waves not the bosses lol.
On something that is 4,000+ Team power, I prefer to go with mana control/special stoppers + healers. It worked out well, with it being 10 energy too, I didnât want to fail by having too many hitters.
I didnât have to use any health or mana pots so it was good.
Yeah, with those heroes that only do a small amount of damage to each enemy, it seems like a slight increase in damage wonât help much, because itâs not really going to make much difference. I guess I canât see much reason to use Li Xui at all if itâs not for mana control. Without the mana control Iâd rather use a hero who is a sniper and does a large amount of damage to one enemy.
I donât have Sonyaâs costume but I looked at it, and yeah that seems to be one of the ones that could just be situationally better. The damage is the same but the difference is in whether sheâs a cleanser or a debuffer. So the costumed special isnât better or worse, just different.
I just feel like if the costume is supposed to be an upgrade, to let the S1 heroes compete with the more powerful heroes, the costume should make the special skill actually better, not just different or possibly worse. Like, if Sonya is going to change from a debuffer to a cleanser, they should have also had her special do more damage, so that the new costumed special is objectively more powerful, not just different and possibly better for some situations.
It doesnât seem like any of the heroes are made more powerful in their costumed version (I mean aside from the stat boost which applies to the regular hero without the costume too.) Basically wearing the costume wonât make the hero more powerful overall, just different and possibly more suited to some situations. It just seems like choosing to wear the costume should make the hero more powerful, make their special skill more powerful instead of just different.
The only other costumes I got were Tyrum and Hawkmoon. I do have a levelled Hawkmoon so I guess at least the costume will give a stat bonus. Her costumed special skill doesnât really seem like an improvement either though.
@Guvnor Just used mine in the current Trials of Piety.
'Lil bit jelly!
I do want that one haha
Similar feedback was shared a lot in Beta, but it seems like the slant of Costumes has been more toward âdifferentâ than âobjectively better.â
So I agree with your assessment.
I actually really like Hawkmoon for Challenge Events, and for Raid Tournament Offense.
The addition of the Attack buff is very helpful, and having HoT for her is actually a nice pairing with Belith when I use both on Offense, and a giant bonus for Buff Booster in particular.
So again, situationally useful, but I havenât used Hawkmoon out of Costume since I got it in November.
Why does Richard get 30 years older from his costume?
Maybe his regular outfit just includes a lot of makeup.
Just remember that most of the benefit is in the stat boost. Getting a 5% base stat increase is nothing to sneeze at⌠Adds to the hero survival & tile damage etcâŚ
As an example, see the difference in stats for a couple heroes:
Then if we add in a couple of the new heroes to the comparison (Finley, BK, White Rabbit, Alice & Seshat & Kingston) you can see that, with the costume & bonus, the old S1 heroes now can compete:
In terms of the 3* costumes I think they are all great. All offer either a direct improvement over the original skill OR provide a gap that was missing in the 3* hero rank specials:
Hawkmoon = attack buff & HoT.
Brianne = mini Athena
Gunnar = other half of wilbur
Tyrum = second cleanser (only other one was Gil-Ra)
In the 4* ranks, I think most are good. They offer something different.
Rigard = only purple attack buffer
Melendor = only Green defence buffer
Sonya = one of 2 fast cleansers now (Zimkitha being the other one)
BT = Monk healer & also more healing (trade off in less attack buff)
The only one who doesnât make as much sense is Li Xiu (as you pointed out). Idk much about skittles so we donât talk about her she doesnât get much use or love anymore from anyone haha

Almost forgotâŚ
Got that on my alt today. One pull. One costume and one hero I hadnât gotten yet.
Or it took a while for him to learn the new skillz?
I;m in a very different play stage from most of the folks whoâve posted in this thread. Until this morning, I had exactly four 4* heroes, and none of them are are fully ascended (blocked on the last AMs). My best team is 2850, so I was able to win through stage 5; then I dropped $3 and got five more keys. Did three pulls.
More interesting to me, though, was that the first two pulls also got me the HOTM. Mind boggling. I thought the patch had broken RNGesus and was throwing Vela at everyone.
More evidence of broken RNGesus: After pulling two Velas in the Costume Summon, I threw caution to the wind and spent my hoarded gems on a 10-pull elemental summons. (The lack of a full 4* team felt like the reason I couldnât consistently stay in the Gold raid tier. OK, the reason I could fix; ascending my other 4* that last chevron would also help, but thatâs not so easy to fix.)
A single pull yielded this:
This was only my second full pull. The first one I did gave me ten 3* heroes and kinda put me off the whole thing. Iâm well aware that RNGesus giveth and RNGesus taketh away, and my next full pull will probably yield ten heroes to be sent to the Professor to be turned into candy, but holy heckâŚ
Now I have to figure out what to do with a sudden embarrassment of riches.
@Guvnor When the chamber first came out, I was not gonna stop on my first alt until I got that Chef BT outfit. And on my very last summon, I got it!
First off congrats! your RNG luck has come thru (mostly )
Double Vela is awesome & two 5* costumes in a 10 pull is DEFINITELY very lucky!!
Despite your new-found 5* riches I would HIGHLY suggest keep on working on your 4* heroes. Iâve been typing this a lot in the last couple days so Iâm just going to copy-paste/ Quote myself:
