Yeah I 100% advocate getting a full 4* team sorted before working on 5*.
I was unlucky/lucky* to not get a 5* for ages and when one dropped I quickly threw everything at it and it stuck at the final ascension wall whereas I had 4* I could feed emblems too which meant I could finish the higher levels in the quests and gain the ascension mats I needed.
Then as the 5* then started to drop I was able to work on them fully and I had my TC19 and 3000 rugged clothes to feed my 5* with. Now I have a full rainbow 5* team and a pile sat at the wall waiting on my second wave of mats to drop.
But the fully levelled 3* & 4* meant so muchâŚI could compete in raid tournaments and started to always finish top 5% in them which over time started dropping them ascension mats.
Sometimes I think the game gives 5* too early and it ruins the game inadvertently for people

So I just finished Ultimate level with this team.
I know, I know, itâs not 4500+ but I managed to eke out a close victory. I only had to have either the best heroes in the game or fully emblemed and costumed good heroes. Iâm such a scrub. 
I actually like monk Boldtusk for his increased healing since that was what I changed him out for. He mostly did backup healing when Rigard was either out or I wanted to sandbag the heal/cleanse. Totally unnecessary safety net, but I always go into a fight with two healers if I can. Tis just my playstyle.
Fight went pretty easily actually.

Easy game with Wilbur, because costumed bosses are not rangers so no danger. Just bring mana just in case.

Too many lucky players reporting 5* on Single Key Pulls in this post⌠Meanwhile I still couldnât get a single 5* to pop from summoning portal in 2 years and change of playing. I got 2 HoTM on my roster, but I consider the bonus draws a little different from the regular summoning sequence.
Now that the odds are nerfed, my hopes of ever âfinishingâ Isarnia is looking pretty bleak.
- Pulled Isarnia out of TC20 - Check!
- Max out Isarnia in terms of stats - Check!
- Hoarded enough Warm Capes and Farsight Scopes to Fully Ascend her - Check!
- Take her to +20 - Eh, a little tough and time consuming, but I should be able to grind it out eventually, so - Check!
- Getting Isarnia her costume so I can stat boost her even if I donât really like her costume? - RNGesus says nah uh.
- If @Guvnor is right about the tool tips implying there would be more than one costume per hero and there is more costumes for Isarnia to come, then RNGesus says nah uh.
Can we please incorporate costumes into TCs in the future so at least I might have a chance? Because my summoning luck sucks big time!
I had Bane and Skittleskull costumes the last time Costumes were here. With a few left and the gift this morning from devs plus finishing up the 6 quest lines (I was pretty sweaty palmed when I saw that 4500 recommended TP, but I did it with BT, Sabina, Wilbur, Isarnia, and Wu Kong)âŚâŚ I managed to do 3 draws.

Melendor - I am putting off finishing up Buddy right away, because Gandalf was my very first 4* since started playing and I still use him to this day because I donât have any 5* healers and he is still a premiere healer (along with Sabina as the only ones who donât have to eat the damage first to remove a Riposte). Even after emblems, he is still sorta kinda squishy, so the Saruman stat boosts will help.

Bane (Dupe) - So I am already done here, no use in having another âTalk to the Hand.â Here in lies the problem, both Bane costumes are looking identical, so which one do I feed off to Gandalf costume? I donât want to accidentally feed off the one Iâve maxed already, there was no way to tell and equipping the costume on Bane doesnât help either so I just ended up eating the second one in the sequence, turns out to be right. However, I am also thinking there âmightâ not be any difference whichever costume you end up feeding away? @zephyr1 or @Guvnor , can you confirm?

Ah, looks like the line ups were a bit different than the original graphics @cap posted. Since those were based off of beta and the storyline took a bit of a change (or if the story in the first costumes got scrapped) this time around, can we assume that there may be a different Masquerade themed story each month? (e.g. first was Li Xiu and Rigard hosting the ball, this time was Richard found out his clothes got taken and after getting them back, become Grandpa Ricardo about to hit the gym).
@JonahTheBard, I have a feeling General Zod would not approve of not seeing Li Xiuâs âCongratulations, Commander, you Always Win!!!â message this time around.

Just my interpretation from where it says âBonuses stackâ⌠who knows tho the equip interface does allow for multiple costumes too.
Remember that costumes must be levelled independently on each hero⌠If you have levelled the costume on one specific hero, just lock (favourite) that hero. That will prevent you from eating away your progressâŚ
The duplicate costume PATTERNS can be eaten without any consequences.

Finished this quite easily with Wilbur Rigard Proty (all around +9) colen (4.65) and Miki (3.70). Took my time on the final pre boss stage and then lit them up. Between Proty and Miki none of the bosses fired even once.
Keys gave me enough for another pull and got rigard! Pretty happy how it went.

I wouldâve thought it was the first sentence in the Costume Bonus tooltip: Costume Bonus permanently increases the stats of the Hero and their Costumes.
Now why would they go ahead and singular hero and plural costumes? Unless âsomeoneâ didnât proofread this particular bit. I doubt it though, as soon as the general player base have come to accept the costume portal for what it is⌠The next thing is that they will continue to release the costumes for the rest of the S1 heroes⌠And then when Zynga/SGG said âWelp, looks like all is forgiven and right in the costumes worldâ and 2nd / 3rd sets (even run themed versions, like summer editions, anniversary editions, etc.) of the costumes will be released. The slider bar once a hero acquires a costume pretty much sets him/her up for multiple costumes implementation, like you said.

âTheirâ can be used as a singular possessive pronoun, just like the word âtheyâ can be used to refer to a singular entity. Often this is because the gender isnât or canât be specified.
Ex: âSomebody left their dookie in the toilet and didnât flushâ

I believe it was in relations to the âCostumesâ being the plural after the âHeroâ is singluarâŚ

Want to be sure I didnât mislead you. I didnât get any 5* costumes; my three costume pulls were 3*. I got the bonus HOTM Vela on two of those three costume pulls. The 10-pull was elemental (green), not costume.
Iâd seen your âhold off on 5* heroes until you have a solid bench of 4*â, and Iâm following that advice. Lianna and the Vela twins are just going to have to wait.
I didnât want to get into the âwhat do I do nowâ question in this thread; there are better places in the forums to ask those newbie questions, and Iâm headed there next. But I do appreciate the advice, honest.

Decided to be an idiot and waste 350 gems for a costume pull. I got SkittleâŚ
Not bad for me since I got the hero too and he is my first, never had him before.
Edit:
I had 450 gems left, decided to waste 200 of them on Hero Roster space, so I am not tempted to try for another costume and get more Hawkmoon lol. Now I only have 233 gems so canât try again. I do have 4/5 costume keys, hopefully i can get 1 more from a mystic vision, or wanted chest.

I just realised, I am happy with Skittle because for Trials, I have no good heroes:
Chesire Cat, Skittle, Jahangir, Gill-Ra and Chochin
All of which are not upgraded except for Chesire Cat which I have slowly been working on and is now a 2/21. At least getting these two 4* to 3/60 will make trials for sorcerers a little more fun lol

Iâd take costume BT in a heartbeat for a class trial over Tarlak.

I beat the Ultimate level with 4-star classic heroes and carpet bombing, TP of around 3400 vs. the recommended 4500. Took Colen, Kelile, Boldtusk, Gormek and Wu Kong. Made a red diamond before the boss wave and took them down with the usual combos.
