Fun with @discobot

The ever-popular Ridiculous Complaints thread has been taken over by a strange robotic discussion. Shifting here…

Since we’re on the topic of badges and permissions, I just want to take the time to say that I welcome our robotic overlords.

I find it necessary to complain about this creature called discobot. His message said to ‘say @discobot’ and and help would magically display on the screen.

No matter how many times I said the magic words, help never arrived. How rude!

I think it would be appropriate to answer discobot with a discomagnet seeing as it is rude to average human.

Sorry this one was too good to pass up.

First off: I did it. I think a congratulations is in order. I earned “Regular” status. I am now a part of an exclusive esteemed class of 64, which makes me “better than.” The cool part about my promotion is now I don’t have to say whom exactly I’m better than, because we Regulars in the know… know. Hm hm, don’t we Regulars?

Sorry, non-regulars, just a little inside joke with my Regular chums, I don’t expect you to get it.

Regular humour (that’s right, I spell it “humour” now) aside, my complaint is actually about a so-called follow Regular… my Arch-Nemesis…

Discobot…

The only time I’d ever seen this Forum Abomination of a Poster was to congratulate me for joining. How very Regular of you @discobot! Do you even E&P, bro?! I’ve never seen a single thread from this Simpson’s Disco Stu rip off. How did he “earn” a status that took a Regular guy like me something, something time to get?!

Oh! And where exactly was he to welcome me into the Regular Club?? Listening to sh*tty music and bot’ing, I presume??

I’m going to say something that I’m really hoping doesn’t get edited by the Mods/fellow Regulars, but you, discobot, are an 01000001 01110011 01110011 01101000 01101111 01101100 01100101

@discobot please help @Kayo use kelso’s wheel to learn to accept your differences.

Consults Forum Rules

But…

Not a player, so…I guess name calling of forum bots is allowed, at least in binary ASCII.

After 5 minutes of searching a binary translator, I do not believe it has one.

It would look something like this:

@#$! %^&(!!!

How this manages to get past the censors, I have no idea.

It’s raining and I have to play E&P.

Two sides of the same thing…

Why is it when discobot types @discobot it does not call itself? That sounds like a bug in the forum. How are we to know this is not a defect that may affect other users as well?

OMG it is pandemic! Look no call to discobot when I typed it either!

Welcome to the club! The first thing you need to know about Regular Club is that it’s basically a conspiracy of silence. Only, without the conspiracy. Or the silence. In fact, we talk a whole lot.

In order to prove yourself worthy of learning our great secrets, you must first best Discobot in a test of forum puissance. It’s really just a post reading competition. You may want to practice a little bit beforehand, though…

Also, Discobot only speaks EBCDIC. We actually talk ASCII around him in much the same way that one asks one’s partner whether the d-o-g needs to go for a w-a-l-k. So your insult fell on deaf ears. Metaphorically speaking, since Discobot has no ears. I’ll show you…

That’s: “Discobot 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100100 01110101 01101101 01100010 01100101 01110010 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100001 01101110 00100000 01100001 00100000 01110100 01101111 01100001 01110011 01110100 01100101 01110010 00101110” for those who’d rather not have to type that all in to a translator program
