Agree with you on JF. But, Morgan Le Fay is way above mediocre tier. Just saying.
Well I have her maxed and Evelyn, Zeline, Kingston. If I have to let go of anyone on my offense, that is Morgan. Sheâs often countered by the enemy getting healed or firing their special before her special reaches full potential damage. I used her on my defense in many configurations, and cups were dropping. She was in my titan squad but got replaced first by costumed Skittleskull, then by Buddy. Used to carry my sorc emblems but having them on Mitsuko brought more value.
Maybe sheâs not Horghall tier, but not above the average. Sheâs fun to use and thatâs it.
I donât have those issues. Maybe play style is different but I generally have no problems with her special reaching potential and in many cases taking opponents down. She is best suited for taking on opponents with high def stats imo. If she can get over on multiple opponents even better. Softens up targets for other specials. Itâs also nice to having a special that hits the same every time regardless of def stat, buffs, in addition to bypassing riposte. In defense she causes offenses to stutter. I have her as part of my raid defense and I hold diamond just fine. Really shines in AW defense as well. No, not average. Only above average. Morgan Le Fay is # 1
Beta Testers:
-
Any strong opinion about the OTHER parts of JFâs special? I keep coming back to the defense debuff flip and the elemental defense buff and I LIKE them.
-
JF synergies, he was a win button in V1, synergies with Telluria were considered over the top. V2, is it still an issue? Any other excellent pairings in your experience?
The new beta started and no changes to JF appeared. This leads me to believe that V2 is the definitive version. I was disappointed that SG did not test other possibilities with him. Like Neith, when the community complains about a heroâs excessive power, SG makes a drastic cut and does not test solutions between extremes. I hope this is not a recurring trend.
Better saving gems for those new S3 heroes, why bother about JF anymore
And again, welcome back Neith
JF is superior to Neith. I really think he is a good hero, above average even. My disappointment is with SGâs Modus operandi. In both cases it was something like: did the community find the hero overpower? Cut in half! Then ignore any request for buffs, after all, we are responding to their request! He complained, we changed, there is no use crying afterwards.
There is no search for a fine adjustment between the extremes. You either accept the overpower or settle for what remains after the nerf.
The current beta doesnât have any HoTMs, right? Only the 2nd batch of s3 heroes. So letâs not be too hasty and see what happens in February. I mean regardless, SG canât always listen to all the complaints, so at some point they have to cut it off. Iâm irked JF is nerfed as much as he is, but, well, letâs just see.
Thereâs someone arguing that heâs still OP? Who is this man, and who was responsible for making sure that he was taking his medication?
Congratulations to GM owners.
I wanted a powerful damage dealer like GM.
But they seem to have succeeded in making a just hybrid against finly.
I think that everyone will see that he is still a top fire hero once theyâll melt to him
Or, itâll turn out like this:
âJohn Francis? Did we have a John Francis? Oh, heâs there playing big two on the bench with Margaret and Adams we almost forgot about him.â
Weâll see Bob, weâll see
Will @bobiscool become bobishot?
Not for a long, long time.
JF: Bonjour Gravemaker, look, I can ze burn too!
GM: Hahaha, you hit like a snail slow and frail. Oh, youâre a frenchie, you hit like an escargot, back to the bench you go!
Well there is so much discussion going on about how useless he is now, but i like to believe that he will still be a force to be reckoned with, especially on offense you can pair him in a 3-1-1 in 3-2 with Grazul/Boldtusk, can work great in mono and rainbow. On offense you can time his special so you can lower everybody and finish it off with your aoe / sniper heros. Its on defense i feel like hes lacking the strenght, most player would put JF next to either Telluria(March Hotm), Guinevere, Kunchen or Ursena, and vs neither of those there is a need of stacking blue heros, so the ice defense isnt going to be effective in anyway. So to make him strong defensively and offensively, remove the ice defense entirely, buff the burn to 400 over 3 turns, and keep the protection vs defense down.
Should have left him alone. Why was everybody so worked up about him being overpowered? I realize he was gonna hit really hard but that was the whole point right? Is there a commonly agreed on definition or notion of what overpowered means here? It gets thrown around but overpowered compared to who and in what aspects? With so many different heroes of different types and different strengths (and weaknesses) and purposes I am asking? And sorry @Guvnor but it canât just be about numbers. I say that as a math major in college right now, so yeah numbers are important to me but they arenât the only thing that matters. Intention matters too and I genuinely feel that JFs whole intent was to hit hard, be a challenge, and a game changer. As I am fairly new here on the forum I would be curious to hear thoughts on the whole overpowered thing in general. Apologies if this is not the thread to ask as I really am more curious on thoughts on âoverpoweredâ heroes in general rather than just JF but feel itâs fair to ask considering how controversial this hero seemed.
Everyoneâs thoughts on why JF was OP in initial build are aboveâŠ
No point trying to bring that horse back out to play at the party⊠Itâs dead and burried.
As for why someone is considered OP there are three main cases:
- When beta testers struggle to find a way to counter the hero & requires extremely niche heroes or lucky boardsâŠ
- The flip side of 1. If beta testers find that heâs too easy to win with (on your team)⊠Basicalky a âcharge them up, fire and you winâ
- When there is no existing hero of a comparable skills & power (this is where the maths is).
On the case of JF, he ticked all three boxes.
I see peoples saying that he will be great in stacks and for this I can agree a lot of people are great it stacks, however few shine alone, and those that do shine alone develop a different following. JF would have set a high bar, but that would have let players get excited for what would be following him also. If the curve was gonna increase then so be it, has to start somewhere and being that fire lacks hitters more than most colors JF was it, until he wasnt anymore. Telling someone they are useful in a stack is the same as saying if three of us jump this one person we will kick his buttâŠduh.
