Is it me or was it fair for me to expect both elemental links to stack rather than overwrite? 
Identical elemental links will overwrite just like identical buffs

Like all other HOTM family bonuses, they should overwrite. So no - I don’t think it was fair of you to expect that.

It’s an easy assumption to make. The word link is in the description. But, as others have said, that’s not how it works.

Based on communication from Staff they should override each other. That is the epected behavior.
Some elemental link would might be too powerful if they would stack.
