4* troops - mana or crit?

If you have Jackal then you should take a yellow 4* mana troop to lvl11.

That way he loads to full mana with 6 tiles.

Nice! I do have him
I have not leveled him yet
Lv1. I chose to get delilah up first.
I will take your advice!

Oh, do Jackal before Delilah. Heā€™ll serve you sooo much better on purple titans.

Thats my opinion at least

I agree. I just finished getting her to 80 now. Because i was prioritizing raid defence to get a good team for that. I will start leveling jackel now i have a fully leveled Joon and Wu Kong so i think he will make a killer team along with bold tusk and Grimm
My record is 63k damage with out jackel.

Hello everyone. Can you please help me to decide what troops i should level ?

My main team is: Kiril - Caedmon - Wu Kong - Rigard - Gormek

My 4* troops are:
Blue: Ravager Warriors - Imperial Night Lords
Green: Rebel Infiltrators ( Have 3* Rebel Sharpshooters (сrit) and all type of other 3* troops)
Purple: Double Mystic Mages ( Have 3* Reanimated Fighters(crit) and all type of other 3* troops)
Yellow: Monastic Battlemages - Double Exalted War Constructs

For Red: I only have all type of 3* and using Barbaric Maulers instead of Firecaller Battlemages

For example: For Kiril which one is better ? Or for Wu Kong ? thank you. :hugs:

Throughout this thread, I have seen some factors not taken into account with the mana troops, like ghosting tiles and how quickly heroes charge on defense.

With that in mind and now that time has passed, which appears to be the best long-term investment, the 4-star crit troops or the mana troops? Iā€™m planning on leveling one up into the 20ā€™s, so it means I will naturally be neglecting the other.

I am currently taking a mana purple to lvl 23. I got Aeron last month and have been keeping an eye on his mana charge during battles and, like I suspected, dropping down from 10 to 9 tiles to charge will be a huge benefit (especially for Aeron given his immunity skill). This will also have a huge benefit in alliance wars bc it will also make rigard, Sabina, and tibertus better (would also make Hel amazing if I had her).

Applying this more broadly, if you have a great average mana hero I think a lvl 23 mana troop is a huge advantage. In the case of purple there are several, so itā€™s an even better choice. Having a level 11 mana troop also is good for extra fast and when facing a mana reducer. Maxing any troop doesnā€™t seem worth it to me unless youā€™re a big spender.

Note this is mostly considering raid offense, titans, wars, events. Raid defense is too complicated to have a clear cut winner IMO.

Does the healing boost offered by the 4* mana troop affect the health gained by draining heroes like Elkanen and Leonidas? If it does, then that combined with the higher attack boost might improve those heroes more than the 4* crit troop even without considering the mana boost.

Good question. 20 characters

At least with Morgan, the answer is ā€œnoā€. BUT the health drained is boosted by the attack stat, which is boosted more by the mana troops than the crit troops.

Morgan was changed in one of the most recent updates, not sure how Leo and co are affected though.
A level 12 rebel infiltrator with 20% atk and 15% heal will cause her to take 201hp per turn from the enemy rather than her base 168hp, but she will now heal herself for 231hp too so she finally gets both boosts. Would optimistically guess that Leo and Elkanen are in a similar position.

Forgot I have Elkanen. (173 dmg dealt * 0.33)+ 15% = 65hp regained so yes, he gets all possible perks from mana troops. No reason Leo wouldnā€™t get them too @lexinen

I was wondering if the increased heal bonus with the mana troop was more valuable now (with the war arrows)ā€¦

War arrows cut both ways with the troops. Damage is fixed at 25% of max HP, so while using crit troops mean you lose more HP from the arrows, you have more HP overall. I agree, though, that the arrows slightly reduce the value of the higher max HP.

With crit troops, you heal more from healers, and most war teams carry a healer. But battles are shorter than raids because of the arrows, so healers will likely get in fewer casts.

Bottom line is as before: crit troops have a sure, quantifiable benefit, but mana troops may give more net HP.

Crit troops also increase titan damage as the crit % is worth more damage than the extra few % attack increase.

Sure, sure, but that was all covered above. The war arrows was an angle I hadnā€™t thought through yet, but once I did it doesnā€™t change my conclusion that for most of us, who will never have maxed troops, crit troops are the better investment.

Agreed. Though for most of us who arenā€™t going to pound troop summon gate, whatever youā€™ve got is the better investment.

I think even at mid levels like 4* 11-16 there are benefits to both crit and mana troops
In raids its awesome when my alby or Delilah gets hit by a lianna, and has 74 hp left. Iā€™m happy i put hp/crit troop on them!
On the other hand my joon or Alasie gets the extra boost for there sniper shot with the attack/mana troop
It makes the difference to finish someone off like an Azlar who is about to wipe me outā€¦

Just for Funsiesā€¦ a level 10 Mana troop ads an extra 15% healingā€¦ Melendor/Sabina heal 42% and Vivica heals 44%ā€¦ so 1.15 x 44 is 56%ā€¦ it could get you thru another round of arrowsā€¦ then again i think that was the point aboveā€¦

Sadly for most healersā€¦ it isnā€™t even close to a break point.

The may arises because a healer or its ally may die before getting the Heal cast. Agreed that, if Caster and ally survive, the mana troop does more.
