Despite a much larger 4* roster now, Brynhild still has a place in my heart (and attack teams) for Buff Boosters.
Used Brynhild + another healer in the strong colour against the tank (tBT, c2Rigard, Goldie) in a 3-1-1. First 4 matches were easy enough, before losing in the last one.
Against a first Red tank defense (Mulgog - tGormek - tBoldtusk - tColen - tLi Xiu), took a while before deciding on a rather passive, riposte team of Goldie - Anastasia - tCyprian - Brynhild - tLi Xiu. Brynhild died quickly from the Toons’ extra damage, and couldn’t get Goldie charged in time. Managed to remove the right side of the defense through riposte, but not enough to prevent the loss. Will remember not to use Brynhild against Red Toons.
Tough day 2. Colen and his costume was my bane today.
Lost the 2nd match against a cColen tank. When a Slow tank can fire twice before either of your healers can, you know it’s tough to win. The flank tKelile added to the burning… Zero points.
Won the next 2 and then came up against a Colen - c2Rigard - cKelile - Sabina - c2Hu Tao defense. This one was frustrating as I managed to kill the middle 3 but after that couldn’t charge my healers again due to Hu Tao’s -24% mana gen. Could only sit, burn, and watch the Slow wings charge and fire.
With a 7-3 record, started with easier defenses today. Had wins against Brynhild, c2Rigard, and tBoldtusk tanks before running into a tCyprian flanked by tLi Xiu and tBT in the 4th match. Got enough yellow tiles to kill the tank at the expense of damage to my Griffin, c2Li Xiu, and Anastasia. tLi Xiu cut the mana of my healers before they could heal back the damage though, and that was loss number 4.
Bought back in and beat a c2Cyprian in the last match. Defense has improved from E and is up to C (8-10).
Finally got Koda levelled up to 70 and used a Koda - tCyprian - c2Rigard middle 3 in several attacks. Had fun using him. Fast sniper with scaling def down + passive that replaces def down with def up + heals on buff received. Was a bit fragile at 70 against level 80 Toons so LBed him after using my 5 flags. Should be 75 for tomorrow. Might even push him to 80 as I can use him for Titans and in Challenge Events.
My head finally overruled my heart and benched Brynhild today . Unless I give her the 2nd LB, she just can’t compete against the Toons. Used tBoldtusk or Goldie as the 2nd healer to c2Rigard. Was still suffering from Colenophobia, and used cCaedmon for an extra cleanser whenever Colen was in the defense.
Boards were good, leading to 5 easy wins. Defense went up all the way to B (13-11) at the end of Day 3. Dropped back down to C (14-15) at the moment, but should be enough for top 5% with a good final day.
Regardless of the heroes in the enemy defense team (and the color of the tank), I still use the same composition: c2Sabina, Shark, tMelendor, tCaedmon, c1Caedmon (one Caedmon is LB1 and the others are LB2).
At first, using three green ones against red tanks seemed stupid to me, but if something works, it’s not stupid anymore…
Besides, Cyprian is usually the tank anyway, so at least there are only two purple ones in my team
Bad boards happen by accident, so it was quite a pleasant tournament…
And the defense? As I said, I stopped focusing on it (both out of laziness and lack of desire to give LB2 to heroes who will not be useful to me outside the tournament), so…
3rd straight tournament finishing 20-5 in attack. The 80% win rate is totally in line with my 33-tournament moving average. Koda had a successful tournament debut. Might have done a bit better if I had maxed him earlier. At least my Purple stack is no longer the weakest offensively.
Defense finished on an 8 win streak to wind up B, but still not enough for a top 1% finish. Interestingly enough, I got a higher ranking (7,275 vs 7,472) than last week despite almost 900 fewer points.
After a nice run of good loot, got the bad rolls this week. Small green Aethers are ones I need the most though.
3* Rush, no Yellow next week… Treevil is not as dominant as before with Toons who can resist his ailments, but with no Yellows it’ll be tough. See you!
I experimented here with cKailani. She’s a bit too weak, but when she managed to fire, my team was crushing. I need to consider LB2 her.
Ana-Belle is the best 4* healer for me. I need to LB2 her also.
I didn’t expect reaching top100 with 2 losses (and it’s the lowest level account in top100). I’m happy I managed to do it here and represent in top100 @Liam_K 's alliance: Gate to Valhalla
