Still thinking if Bogart is good enough. The obvious choices would be Franz or Kalo, but my characters are not lvl 80. Other LB2 alternatives that came into mind are Waddles, Wang Yuanji, Greg or Mulgog, but I don’t think any of them fit that well. This tournament still calls for dupes.
Actually I’ll bring Greg instead of Bogart, since I just remembered there are not many non-purple cleansing healers in 4* heroes, and bringing cleansing hitters such as C-Caedmon and C-Sonya on the attack is a compromise for the damage you could potentially deal. Thoughts?
I’m not sure about Kalo. This is the first rush since I’ve pulled him, and now that it’s go-time, I’m hesitant because it seems weird to plan on my heroes dying
This week’s tactic is simple. Put as many Toons in the attack team as possible while keeping a 3-1-1 mix
First 2 defenses had Red tanks c2Colen and Gormek. My Blue attack stack was tKiril - tSonya - c2Grimm. I actually have Grimm’s Toon costume but haven’t levelled it since I prefer the 2nd Costume for Challenge Events. tLi Xiu and Kalo completed the team. A bit risky with just one healer, but wanted to test out Kalo. The gargoyle didn’t really get a chance to show off his skill as none of my heroes died
The attack team worked so well that I continued using it in the 3rd match with a c2Li Xiu tank and only one Red hero in Wilbur. Was a bit tougher fight but again got through with no deaths.
Of course, the toughest match came when I used 2 healers and no Kalo Naturally, it was against a tLi Xiu tank. The defense of tBoldtusk - c2Caedmon - tLX - tSonya - c2Kiril had 2 Blues to the right and decided to switch to Green stack of tMelendor - tCaedmon - Franz while keeping tKiril and tLi Xiu. Even with my Toons resisting the mana cut, the damage from the tank firing repeatedly was enough to kill both my healers. Thought I was going to lose, but managed to ghost enough tiles to win in Extra time even with tBT reviving 3 times in a row. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good
Another tLX tank in the last match. Went back to the Blue stack with tKelile in the defense’s flank. Much better tiles this time and easier win. Somehow I’m 5-0 without using Gullinbursti…
A much tougher Day 2, and 2 losses. Blue and Green stacks in attack today. Kalo finally had some dead skills to use (tKiril’s heal) and that helped in the first 2 matches.
Loss number 1 came in the 3rd match against a tLi Xiu tank. Lost count of how many times she fired. Even with 2 Toon healers (tKiril and tMelendor), couldn’t keep up, especially when the Toon resist failed against the mana cut. Just managed to kill the wing tColen for 135 points.
The other loss was a bit embarassing against a Jolly tank in the last match. He’s just a 3* but those 2 buffs he gives are scary, especially when coupled with Toons who resist dispels. Again, it was a tLi Xiu in the defense cutting my tMelendor’s mana just as he was ready to heal. Greg’s mega minion with Franz’s damage increase is a deadly combo. Not a zero though, which is a victory of sorts.
Defense is B (3-3) and looks like this will be a tough, low-scoring tournament.
Let me start by saying that 4* tournaments are getting even more dominated by toons, despite the introduction of some pretty good 4* heroes in this year alone. There’s a huge number of Li Xiu C2 and Li Xiu toons, and the best counter to those is to just bring toons yourself instead of hoping for tiles for reflect or something.
Despite all that offense is going pretty well with a blue kill stack of Bonechill-Toon Grimm-Toon Sonya, and Goldie and Toon Melendor as healers. My defense isn’t perfect at B, but I’m mostly getting attacked by players from 7DD or equivalent. I find Bonechill’s damage especially impressive if he is able to fire at all due to the constant barrage of silence or mana drain.
I tried Linus and Greg on a few occasions instead of Toon Sonya, but Linus is too board dependent and Greg’s bleed gets reflected more often than I’d like. Linus is probably best as an off-color attacker, meaning he doesn’t really work if your main stack is blue. Greg is probably better suited for tournaments if you can also bring Shar’khai. I also dabbled with Toon Li Xiu on offense, but it was a mistake that cost me my first loss.
I’m dreaming of a toon cleanser other than Rigard.
This tournament and the matchmaking is offensively stupid. Offensively stupid.
Every single battle (without exception) has been against shithouse teams. i gave it a shot on a second account because i thought "hey, it might not be so bad,’ and this is what i got just now.
I am not proposing or suggesting anything (such as limiting heroes/amount of them, etc.,) but this isn’t fun and is a total slog towards an inevitable loss or simply needing to flee because the battles take so outrageously long.
Lionstring doesn’t even put a dent in this. I can’t be the only one seeing this, but I feel like I might be the only one getting it in every single battle.
After seeing how effective Greg was in defense, decided to switch my attack team to try him out. Went with a 2-2-1 stack of tKiril - tLi Xiu - tCaedmon - tMelendor - Greg in attack. The middle 3 all charge in 6 tiles with the costume bonus + mana node.
Once he got his Mega Minion, it was doing great damage + Bleed. Won the first 3 matches against c2Li Xiu teams quite easily even without a cleanser.
Lost to a tWu Kong tank in the 4th match. Not sure how I could have won this if I didn’t kill the tank before he fired. With 3 other toons (Caedmon, Li Xiu, Hu Tao) in the team who resist dispels from my tCaedmon and tMelendor, it was just hoping that the slash attacks missed. Barely managed to avoid the zero.
Bounced back to win the last against yet another c2Li Xiu tank and survive into Day 4. Defense is still B (5-5).
