Ok, well ĺet’s give it a go. If Kvasir fired first, and Tyrum survived long enough to dispel the special defense, then maybe I could avoid a bagel.
[Levels up Kvasir to 55+20, chucks 1mn ham and 220 emblems at Tyrum to get superior protect] … Nope, definitely a bagel.
Maybe the rest of the day will be easier? Nope. Another three opponents over 3850TP, one around 3830. Pick up another bagel due to a filthy board against this lot:
So that’s me at 8-2 on offense. Defense still defying expectation and logic at 3-1, grade A. Top 5% but running out of lives.

I was using this mono purple team throughout.
Match 1 was full of yellow and red. The first team had toon costumes for Gan Ju and Jahangir… and i get tiles for them? Coincidence? I dont know how, but i somehow won this despite thinking I would die fast.
Last match had 2x Kvasir. 2x Dawn all lb2. That wasn’t so easy haha

A familiar pattern continues with me losing my only match due to…you guessed it…no specials. Took out tank again for some points. I did face all full LB2 teams today, still several with questionable choices. (I’m looking at you Helo tank.) But it really shows the difficulty of taking on LB2 defenders with LB1 attackers. I know it’s been mentioned here before by others, but I couldn’t get over the sheer time it took to whittle them down with both tiles and specials.

3-1 today, 10-4 total and as predicted i’m out. To be honest, the three victories were completely unexpected, against strong all-2lb teams. Then came a Kvasir tank and a very gentle mega-cascade that charged him with only off-colour tiles and i fled the battle out of spite.
Defense is flying at 13-3. Now i’m wondering about that initial 0-2: were they two very lucky players, two outstandingly strong players (but i don’t think they would be paired with a defense with only one 2lb hero in it) or is my defense now being paired with lower-powered players who attacked well but are being put against stronger and out of their league teams?

Today is officially my lucky day:
- Complete mirages of omega at a cost of 3 time stops and 1 tornado (for me that’s very, very cheap)
- Collect enough coins for another free pull at the so-called “goblin summon”, and finally get a goblin (Fizzcoil, plus Boom & Fang as a bonus)
So my approach to today’s tournament is “anything is a bonus”. I gamble on mono yellow for my first match as I have no good ideas; I get an absolute peach of a board, romp home with only one special from the other side.
After that, I decide my name is clearly Felicity McLuckypants, and I play 3 blue / 2 yellow for the rest of the matches (EDIT: switched to 3 purple / 2 yellow for the Dawn tank). All boards ok.
O: 5-0 today, 13-2 to date, score 9546, top 1%
D: 5-4 A/A/B so far

Managed to max Toon Gan Ju and wanted to test his Mana Cut blocking Passive against Dawn. Foolish of me to think that a level 50 S1 even with costume bonuses could compete against LB2 heroes 
The panda just got swatted around for 2 losses in the first 3.
LBed him and got him up to level 55 before buying back for further experimentation. Funnily enough, last 2 were against Yellow tanks or Yellow-dominated teams so didn’t use him at all. Another zero point loss though.
On the bright side, defense got its 2nd win to improve to 2-6 (E). With nothing to play for, will probably try 4-1 instead of 3-1-1 or 3-2 on Day 4.

Someone attacked me 1 hour before the tournament ended for day 3, and I lost, so i went from B down to D, which is annoying)
I was against toon heroes again, multiple, and once again it gave me yellow and red tiles! This time it was Toon Jahangir and Valen with a fawn tank - she went off about 5 times! I did manage to kill her but that was all, but at least not a 0 score for the match.
Happy to have made it to the last day, hopefully I can get 1 or 2 kills tomorrow before I die, I dont have enough gems to buy back in

It has been an exeptional great run for me - even managed to make it to first rank yesterday for a short period of time… never would have imagined that I would be able to achieve something like this.
17 consecutive wins before I did lose today against a player with a comparable setup to mine (only finished his or her tank). Still very happy with this tournament.
I changed my defense last minute to include Planchet instead of Fawn and (as I usually do) I play the same team on offense - which worked great so far. Usually I do not have so much luck with mostly mono teams but here Dawn makes all the difference. I should have invested more in troops, I guess, but somehow it still works out.

This tournament is going very strangely for me… First, two defeats at the start (I haven’t started the first day so badly for a long time), then a series of victories and now two defeats again…
The defense is doing its job great again, so tomorrow I’ll probably spend 75 gems hoping that the boards will be better than today
To sum up, I am satisfied with the result, because in a 3* bloody battle, the lack of LB2 heroes usually bothered me more (however, the HP difference between them is significant).

As night follows day, so “Lucky Wednesday” fades into “Toilet Thursday”.
My first opponent is a double Dawn mono blue. Respectfully, I’m not beating that one. Never mind.
Opponent 2 looks doable on paper, starts ok, but RNG leaves me with 25 red or green tiles mid game. So that’s me out.
I rationalise buying back in on the basis that the “kill 35 blue heroes” PoG quest will give me 20 aether crystals.
Match 3 is well named, because match 3 is all that happens. Can’t get a dragon or a gem in any relevant colour, barely manage to charge a hero. Oh well…

Wah wah. As predicted this came to fruition and sadly on attack #2. Kvasir the Beekeeping Casanova laughed me right out of the tournament. I did get to fire Planchet once for the first and only time of the week so there’s that. I hate not continuing a 3* tournament but this one just isn’t in the cards for me.
At this point my defense is giving me a good laugh. Perhaps this is payback for celebrating my great defense a bit too much last week? (Ok it was actually poor defensive choices.)

As mentioned yesterday, going with the riskier 4-1 formation today. Switched between 4 Yellows (Jaco - Kvasir - Felton - Dawn - tGanJu) and 4 Blues (cNordri - Kvasir - Joukahainen - Dawn - Planchet) vs Red tanks.
Surprisingly good boards today with the right coloured diamonds every single match. Didn’t matter who was in the defense. Matches ended too quickly to fully crash test tGan Ju. At least there will be Day 5 to do so.
Defense remains E (2-6) so not much point support from there for a better ranking.

It’s already day number 4 and still no one attacked me. I don’t know how common this is, but that never happened to me before.

Quite literally very bad luck with tiles in the 2 I lost, I had no chance, but I did manage to kill the tank in both so I didn’t get a 0 score at least.
I think I will move down to top 5% by the end (2861 right now)
I dont even have 75 gems to buy back in even if I wanted to, but not sure I would just to use 2 flags, that I will most likely lose.

So close but no cigar. For the first 4 days I went 20-0 and was #1 in the entire tournament yesterday. Today I lost once, though got some points from that team as well. Currently I’m third:

Today’s boards made yesterday look like a picnic.
Third game - I’ve posted the opening board over on the “Bad Luck Thread” for posterity. I stacked 3/2 purple/yellow against a fully upgraded opponent. Managed to fire 1 yellow and 1 purple tile on move three thanks to a blue dragon. Tyrum, Bjorn, Kvasir all dead before a purple or yellow match-3 became available, Jolly and Treevil at half health. So well over 4k damage received before I got a relevant colour match.
The other two losses weren’t as extreme, but I wasn’t playing badly.
Score 14388 before whatever I get for final day defense. At 8-4, it would take a 0-2 result or worse to drop me out of A… so I’ll report back when it happens (along with tournament loot).

What RNG gives, RNG can also take away. Same 4-1 teams as yesterday, but today just struggling to get my heroes charged. 3 losses including a zero. Did manage to last until match 25.
Defense remains E (2-7). This looks like a top 10% finish.
