Lost the first match of the day against a Sally - Joukahainen - Rekhetre - Buster - Zarel team. Went with Kvasir instead of Helo despite no opposing minion heroes and paid the price for that choice. No Green tiles to charge Faiez before he got Bustered twice. Managed to kill the middle 3 defenders, but without another healer, couldn’t survive hits from the 2 wings.
Boards were better the next 4 matches and easy wins despite all level 60 heroes. Defense remains A (14-3) so top 1% looks assured.
Get some blue and yellow tile to fire Joukahainen and RIbbit but can’t kill anyone and there is no green tile until all enemy fire. Manage to charge green but they die from slash right after I charge them. So, .
Decide to replace RIbbit with Helo in 5th attack because 5th also has only Rekhetre as healer and my Joukahainen can block her. The board is bad but my Shrubbear save my team and die. I think Helo is better than RIbbit when enemy team doesn’t have Faiez or Dawn which I don’t need more firepower.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Went with the same attack teams as before, Kvasir if there was a Dawn or Kvasir in defense, Helo otherwise. Only change was to push a 2nd Blue troop to 15 to give cNordri even more oomph.
First 2 matches were against defenses with 3 Yellows in the middle. Lots of Blue tiles for my Joukahainen, cNordri, and Helo, and no trouble winning. Even the one match where the goblin Boots dropped my heroes’ attack and defense permanently.
Faced 4 Dawns in last 3 matches. Couldn’t stop them all from firing, but was lucky enough that her minions’ mana cut kept missing my AoE hitters Jouka and Zarel. One match which had 2 Dawns flanking a Ribbit was a slog, but some patient play led to a victory in the end.
If you had told me at the beginning of the week that I’d end up with 24 wins in a Rush tournament, I would have told you to buy a new crystal ball
Defense is still strongly A at 18-4. Nothing to complain about this week
Liam I gave you a cheer when I noticed you in 3rd on the leaderboard just now! Nicely done!
I’ve been busy and also pretty sick so I haven’t been around here much, but I enjoyed this tournament week despite the worst start ever.
I really couldn’t find a rhythm and lost three attacks on the first day. I almost threw in the towel but didn’t want to miss out on the whole week.
Once I decided to stick with the attack team of Faiez-Joukahainen-Dawn-Yao-Zarel things really turned around. I did have to buy back in, but went 16-1 at the end on offense.
But despite everything, I’m happy with this tournament. First of all, the defense worked much (but really much) better than last time, and it was all thanks to Jouku. Sometimes it just happens that you imagine a good defense that you would like to set up, but you can’t because you lack one small brick to build it. In my case, this building block was Jouku, which I managed to obtain only at the last moment (at the end of Kalevala).
In attack, I don’t really have anything to complain about, because I only had two LB2 heroes at my disposal (Kvasir and Bear), and yet the fights against 5xLB2 teams looked good.
22-3 in my attacks. Super close on my last attack from yesterday. It has been a busy week. I’ll take top 100. Hopefully next 3* event I can pull off 25-0.
Ultimately, the result is much better than I expected, but the rush has its own rules and even without LB2 heroes you can achieve a good result
Defense with only one LB2 hero (the lack of LB2 helps here because you are not attacked by the strongest players)
24 wins in a tournament are the most since last December, and combined with an all A defense meant a best ever ranking of 3rd. A bit sad not to finish 25-0, but the consolation is that even getting those extra 303 points wouldn’t have been enough to overtake the 2 players ahead of me.
cNordri proved a formidable partner to Joukahainen, though the quiet MVP was Zarel. Her Bard bonus making heroes charge in 6 instead of 7 tiles is a game changer.
Omg I would cry if that was my loot for finishing 3rd, Liam. You are a better sport than me! Sorry it wasn’t better. My defense ended up keeping me in the top 1% after all. A nice surprise to wake up to. Very happy with the EHT especially considering I was towards the bottom of the rewards bracket. Hope it turns into at least a Buster at Christmas!
