You should also consider your entire defensive setup. There is no overpowered tank in the game with the way things are. Every single defense is beatable, easily, as offenses have huge advantages when facing a defense. Any and all weaknesses will be exploited.
A tank on defense can work one of 2 ways:
- Stay alive as long as possible while blocking open lanes for the offense to ghost tiles and charge specials. Guinevere is the best at this. However these kinds of tanks don’t do damage. So your other 4 heroes have to compensate to take out the offense as fast as possible.
- Do significant damage to the offense and punish them hard during bad boards. Gravemaker is the best at this. His problem is that he needs to go off twice to be effective and good boards will eat him up. However, you cannot fool around on offense against a GM tank. Even here, your other 4 will need to do cleanup of the offense and cover for GM once he dies.
The gist of what I’m saying is that you can make any hero that fits into one of the above molds work for you as a tank. But you need the right supporting cast to make it count.
And never expect that your defense will ever be good enough to consistently protect your cups
