So I had 3 epic hero tokens burning a whole in my pocket for the last couple of months. Used all three on Springvale and got 2nd Gormek, and two repeat 3* S1 heroes that I have already fed away. This morning my luck changed big time. I got an epic hero token from Mystic Visions and drew Squire Wabbit and Anzogh!!!
I already have Scarlett+5, Kelile 3/52, 2 Gormeks at 1/1, Jahangir+13, Azar +10, Hawkmoon 3/50 and Nahamage and Nashgar both at 1/1. I plan on taking Kelile to 3/60 and then moving to someone else.
I would appreciate some advice on who to level next. I have 30+ partially levelled and fully leveled 3 and 4* for war. I’m only on player level 29 but have had no problem with the first 2 levels of the class quests. Should I take some time to level up my red 3* before I start on the big guy?
Other 4* are Kiril 4/1, Cyprian 3/55, Wu 3/25, Li Xiu 3/19, Boril 1/1. I have at least 1 of all the 3* worth levelling, most with emblems.
I’d max one of them, or at least go to 3-60 if you lack the mats to max.
Defense debuffing is one of the most powerful effects in the game. Given your current other 4* choices, Gormek should be on every one of your titan teams once leveled.
I’d strongly recommend more leveling on your 4* before starting on 5*. Anzogh will be resource intensive to feed, and also far less useful at 2-60 than your 4* that can go to 3-60 without needing unfarmable mats.
As for 3*, it depends a bit.
Squire Wabbit is a fantastic hitter — really the best of 3*. He’ll be useful in 3* Raid Tournaments, as well as Rare Challenge Events. Given his squishiness as a price for his strength, he’s less likely to be useful in War, other than as part of a red stack to contribute to tile damage.
Namahage and Nashgar are both excellent 3*, well worth leveling. But given you already have a few red 3* leveled, I wouldn’t prioritize them over your 4*.
I’d also go with Gormek as your next red. He’s the beefy one of the Ramming Pulverizer trio; along with his kin Grimm and Tibertus, they are central to solid titan hits. Gormek doesn’t hit particularly hard, but he’s incredibly durable. What’s so valuable about the Ramming Pulverizers is their big -defense ailment for 6 turns, which gives you plenty of time to maul your opponent.
Gormek is my least favorite of the trio–Wilbur does a better job on titans–but he’s the first of the set you’ve got, so I’d run with him.
Like most 5* heroes, Anzogh really only comes into his own in the fourth ascension, and that takes so many resources to get there. You want to focus on building out your 4* team before working on most 5*. (5* healers and other utility heroes can be very successful at 3/70, but Anzogh’s mechanics depend on his attack damage, which won’t be great at 3/70.)
I do like that Squire Wabbit is a red ranger. I wonder if I could keep him alive to the boss level of the class trails. I’m excited to give the third level a try once I hit level 30. I know I probably won’t be able finish many of them with my current crew.
Yep, I agree strongly with everything that’s already been said. I don’t have Squire Wabbit, but have always heard he hits very hard and is great in specific situations (like zephyr said, probably primarily raid and events). So that’s definitely a viable option. Plus, it wouldn’t take too terribly long to level him.
Gormek
The other viable path is Gormek, and that is my preference given you already have a decent stack of red 3’s - that is, if you need to stack for a green titan or tank the difference between your current squad vs. your current squad + Wabbit is probably not huge.
But Gormek is a difference maker as the first defense down skill on your roster. zephyr is again 100% on his projected usage - that makes him a prime candidate for all titans, a ton of raids, etc. Gormek was actually my first four and was on my primary map, raid, and titan teams for a very long time. Plus he still gets good run every war. And actually, now that I think about it I think I threw him in against the last green titan because I knew he’d survive where my 3.60 Colen / Scarlett would wilt.
Anzogh
Kerridoc makes the right points here. Leveling a five star is incredibly resource intensive. In the time I can max out a three star I can only take a five star to about 2.40!
Kerridoc also makes a great point about his healing. Since it’s based on damage, that attack stat lagging really hampers him. I think for now you’re better off relying on Kiril, items, and (I assume you have a) Belith for healing.
Trials
I’ve constantly been impressed by your ability to complete rare quests and the like, so maybe you don’t need this warning, but the third stage of trials is way way WAY harder than the second. I guess I’ll look forward to seeing how it goes for you.
Thanks Ivy. I got cocky for the last stage of Farholme Pass as I haven’t had much trouble lately. Took Scarlett, Balthazar, Cyprian, Tyrum and Kelile. No healer! Almost didn’t make it. Didn’t help that I didn’t realize that I was down to 2 med mana potions before I hit fight. Skin of my teeth, used every item (Small mana, antidotes, med mana and bombs) and my team was almost completely wiped out. Got a lucky cascade that saved the day.
Some of the class quests I know I don’t really have a chance right now with so few 4*s. Probably my best chance would be Survival with Scarlett, Kelile, Gormek, Dawa and Karil. When I do get around to leveling Anzogh I’m sure he’ll help get me to the final stage along with his little blue elvis look-a-like dwarfish brother.
You and Jalapeno Business should coordinate on the quests and trials! You’re both at about the same point: completing the last quest levels but it’s close, and nearing the level 30 threshold to try the third trial levels.
This is now off topic, but it’s your thread - for the trials I’m still measuring things since the V20 update is so recent and we haven’t even gone through a full trial cycle since then. And acknowledging that just stating a team power ignores important things like hero synergy, but here’s roughly what I’m finding so far:
3200 team power: I can beat the third stage, but usually end up using items fairly heavily. Let’s say like a full complement of bombs and axes. I could maybe do a bit less, but often I find myself in a spot where, if I fire off a couple weapons in rapid succession, I get a kill in before the bosses are about to fire a big attack or a heal. I usually opt to fire instead of absorb the hit / dealing with the heal.
3500 team power: I can beat the third stage with almost no weaponry / no items.
My initial tentative conclusion is that those two numbers are kind of my own personal baseline points for how my team is likely to perform / what items I need to bring. So for example if I’m bringing a 3000 team I’m much more inclined to stock dragons attacks.
I went ahead and took a break from ploughing ahead to TC20 to bring my forge up to level 16 for the dragons. Haven’t used them yet but I figured I might as well have something to spend my iron on while I wait for those long stronghold upgrade times.
So I couldn’t resist bringing Anzogh up up a bit before I started on Gormek. I brought him up to 2/1 in 5 days. He is now my hardest hitting AOT hero only beaten by Jahangir+9 if you include the DOT. He also has the 12th best defense of all my heroes, just ahead of Berden+12. He is useful enough now for color stacking in raids and titans. I would take him over Jahangir for green titans as Jahangir eliminates Kelile’s stronger DOT and he is much tougher.
Color stacking is where Anzogh really show his true color. I’ve got him at 3 02 now. Stacking with Wilbur against the green titans!
Btw, once you hit 2 60 with Anzogh, you should start with Gormek. One of beefier ramming pulverizer.
Tier 3 Anzogh does not survive in upper platinum or low diamond arena. @Kerridoc was right. He need to be in final ascension level to be really useful.
Thanks to RNG God, I’ve had 3 damascus blade, 2 tome and 11 mystic rings which is more than enough for him.
Thanks @AliceCooper. I’ll probably switch now. I just wanted to bring my new toy up to the point I could play with it every now and then. I got Cyprian on March 23rd and I’m still not done maxing him out. The idea of waiting 2 months before I could play with my first 5* was too much. As I said he’s already better than almost all of my 3*. I’ll bring Gormek up to 3/60 (I only have one HB right now) and then decide if I want to max Squire Wabbit or take Anzogh to 2/60 first.
A 2 60 5 * is already having more power than a fully level 3 *. Its just a matter of preference.
I usually level a hero by feeding them with the same color of up to 10 common / uncommon heroes at once. The higher the %, the more chances of you to max the hero’s special. Once the hero’s special reach max 8, I will just feed them with any unused common/uncommon/lousy dupes…lol.
The only drawback was losing some points. Ie, if you feed a common / uncommon hero of fire element to hero of other element, you’re going to lose 30 to 65 points or even more than 150, depending on the heroes’ grade.
