Hi All, I didn’t really want to post a topic but reading through several recent 5 star hero threads still left me confused on which hero to ascend. I have a deep bench and lots of ascendtion materials except for rings for red. I know what i want to do in all the other colors. I have enough rings for one hero at the moment…(currently have 8).
I am totally lost on which red to ascend as I have too many that I have gotten since last Halloween. I was going to ascend Vanda until I got all these others…
All of these are at 3-70
Elizabeth 3-70 (can max emblem immediately)
Vanda 3-70 (just brought krampus to +20 so no emblems currently, but this would be my next sourcorer to place emblems on)
Isrod 3-70 (can max emblem immediately)
Asterius 3-70 (can max emblem immediately)
Yang Mai 3-70 (can max emblem immediately)
I really like Yang Mai and Vanda.
Thoughts?
Troops are Mana Lv 30, Lv 17, Lv 12, Lv 11, Lv 5, and Ninja Lv 9
Maxed Red are Garnet, Costume Marjana, Black Knight, Gefjon, Gravemaker, Tyr, Mitsuko, Jean-Francois, Grazul, Red hood
If you’ve got already Grazul, then Vanda is great: with Mana-troop lv 11 they are ready at the same time, using one special and after two rounds the other gives you immunity for four rounds… gives you four rounds time to fire opponents DoT and aislements (to be clear, you’ll get all direct damage)
Thanks @Abahachi! I do have grazul and garnet. I find that I never use grazul anymore unless I run mono red 2nd team in a war. I like using garnet much more. This is part of the reason I was thinking Vanda…but I just cannot make a decision with these other reds I have now…
Elizabeth, reasoning because she is extremely useful. If you have Garnet/Grazul no need for a third. Elizabeth functions similar to Vanda as she blocks healing plus minion does continuous damage with mana down ailment. Seems pretty straight forward why she is a top tier hero.
My vote is for Elizabeth, especially since you can max emblem her and she is rather unique. I have Elizabeth +19 and don’t regret maxing her for a second. She is better on offense (paired with cMarj) which is primarily where I use her, but also good on defense. I am currently maxing Yang Mai. I do not have Vanda, but I do have Garnet +20 and she is fantastic. Since you have Grazul maxed already, I see Vanda as less of a priority for you.
Thanks @BigE1. The more comments about Vanda it does seem more redunent with already having garnet plus 19 and grazul (who i never use anymore). So far at 3-70 i have not been super impressed with Elizabeth. Hopefully others can weigh in too…
I like Elizabeth, she is one of very few (pseudo) mana controllers in red (the other being Mitsuko which you already maxed, and then there’s Natalya who is long past her prime), and the fiends effectively act as a healing block which is nice. Paired with cMarjana her initial hit starts to hurt, and if you can throw BK’s taunt into the mix then she really starts doing some damage, on top of the mana slow and fiend stuff.
@ruskin505 I thought about it but I have Wilber and costume majana. Even just using marjana helps quite a bit. I may do him next after I get the next four rings.
I have Isrod and like him. I enjoy riposte heroes but so far he is only partially emblemed and not at his peak. The mana boost is nice, not being able to attack in formation means the affect 3 feels limiting. Stacks with other ripostes so love running him with him and Sif flanking my slow healer (one riposte or the other is active, but the mana gain mechanisms stack which is key to the strategy).

Of the heroes mentioned, Elizabeth is the one. Should be great fun on offense as you can shave a tile off to get her to functionally fast AND emblem her.
On defense she is very good and based on what you have posted I imagine you can build a properly effective/scary team around her.
Have faced her many times in raids, once she fires, the battle shifts in her team’s favor. Strongly.
She fills a role that your other heroes do not fill. Vanda overlaps with others, Isrod and Asterius are not at that level (nice, useful but not there) and Yang Mai in my mind is key for longer battles where her stack can build up but she isn’t as universally helpful as Elizabeth.
If you have Grazul you don’t need Vanda (part of the ability is the same but my Grazul give also +4% regeneration mana to the red’s… I use Her with Yang Mai +18 and Noor (+20)…this 3 together are incredible… Everything about the mana can make the difference… But this is just my opinion
I don’t even have a single hero out of those choices. But if I have the same issues, I think I would go to either Yang Mai or Elizabeth. Why? Yang aids in speeding up mana generation of your monoreds. Liz because of fiends, which may be a problem once other fiend-summoner become more prevalent in the future and SG won’t release heroes to effectively counter them any time soon.
First you have a nice roster, so congratulations for that!
Second: you have Grazul and Garnet maxed, so I wouldn’t do Vanda for now. I have Vanda maxed and she’s wonderful but she’s a bit redundant with those two, plus Garnet is even a slightly faster. I can’t evaluate Isrod because I don’t have him nor I’ve met him so much on defense, and when I did he wasn’t much of a threat even in the middle of double formations. Asterius and Yang Mai seem like a titan specialists so you can consider on of them if you want extra titan damage.
However, I would advise you to do Elizabeth. I have her and she’ll be next one I ascend. She has great versatility, brings new mechanic to the game, can supplant Vanda (though Vanda is much faster) and in Bloody Battles she’s near win button.
