What key traits separate the elements?

Of all of the elements, the only one that I know has a specific trait associated with it is Holy, who has multiple heroes capable of blinding the enemy (Bane, Joon, Hu Tao, etc).

What are the primary characteristics that separate one element from the other? Is there a pattern that SGG follows when deciding to which element a new hero belongs?

UPDATE TO INCLUDE QUICK ANSWERS BASED ON RESPONSES BELOW:

Holy: Mana control
Dark: Poison damage
Fire: Burn damage

MY CONJECTURE ON THE OTHER TWO:

Ice: Defense buff/Debuff
Nature: Resurrection

Hmmm, good question…I know nature is the only one with necromancers (alby and MN). Not sure of unique special effects for the others…you have the mana blockers (Hel and Proteus) in purple, does that count?

Absolutely! Those are some interesting and unique features, for sure!

I was originally thinking that Holy and Ice were the +def elements (Hou, Kailani, Olaf, Gunnar, & Kiril), but I’m not sure if the pattern continues… and Wilbur definitely breaks it.

Holy also has a lot of Mana Control (in addition to blind) – Gan Ju, Chao, Li Xiu, Leonidas, Guinevere, Onatel, Gretel

Red/Fire = feel the burn. At least, with Gravemaker, Colen, Kelile, Nashgar… are there others? Maybe it isn’t as prevalent as blinding in Yellow, though.

EDIT: Oh, Azlar, Marjana too…

It counts, but is similar to the poison that dark has…

True, but no complete mana shut down like the dark ones. Let’s say yellow is mana cutters, Dark is mana blockers.

Only:
Reds have burning
Yellow have mana STEAL (ankther heroes have mana BLOCK, or Iforgot about someone)
Purple have poison
Green have 4* druids (this is sad)
Purple have “Ghost” hero
Blue have chain attack (2 heroes now)

You know…I was just farming S1, level 7-5 for nature enemies to fill a chest. One of the GREEN groot-like guys has a blind ability. I guess blind isn’t a holy-specific ability after all!
