Thank you very much @Petri!
Some while back, @Coppersky opined:
To which I very tactfully replied:
Ah well. On the plus side, it turns out force lightning really IS as cool as it looks.
If youâd like to become a moderator, giving out likes seems to be the way to go
Your unconditioned probability of becoming a moderator is 0.12% (6 in 50,266). According to the data from Life: The Odds, that means the probability of becoming a moderator on the E&P forum is about 10 times higher than the probability of dating a supermodel. Iâm not saying this is a consolation prize in that sweepstakesâŚbut Elle MacPherson still isnât returning my calls.
So the odds arenât great. Among people who have given at least 5,500 likes though, the probability spikes up to 50% (5 in 10). And itâs a whopping 75% now (3 in 4) among people who have given at least 9,400 likes (or, as @Gryphonknight likes to say, use your likes).
Thatâs a lot of likes
In case youâre wondering where all those likes are going, here are some select exerpts from the probability table for âgetting your post liked by Garanwyn:"
@Hrairoo: 309/605 (51.1%) Itâs about the same chances as getting Master Lepus in 120 pulls on Springvale (also, just slightly better than a coin toss). This one appears to be positively correlated with making really funny poll posts.
@Zephyr1: 804/4395 (18.3%) Itâs about the same chances as as getting Lianna in 5 months from TC20. Making really great posts about upcoming events, seasonals, tournaments and trials seems like a strong correlation here, as does providing solutions to bug reports.
@General_Confusion: 289/1772 (16.3%) Which is almost exactly the chance of getting 8 tiles of your strong color on a starting board. The key correlation here is making pithy statements about a wide variety of subjects.
@Gryphonknight: 247/1765 (14%) Itâs about the same chances as getting Tyrum from the Dark summoning portal, in order to make sure youâve got the best 3* tank for Raid Tournaments.
In case you're wondering what the key factors are...
This one is highly correlated with the use of the detail tag in Discourse, along with making really cool and informative posts about almost every subject imaginable. Clicky, Clicky
Didnât The Immortal Bard say that âbrevity is the soul of wit?â This is getting kind of longâŚ
Well yeah, but thatâs pretty rich coming from a guy whose back-catalog runs to 835,997 words across 37 plays. Also, Polonious is an idiot.
Thank you all for the warm welcome, and thank you to everybody for making this an amazing community that Iâm proud to be a part of. We have enough fascinating discussions, debates, laughter and camaraderie for any three normal forums. You all are the best!
And a big congratulations to @Mariamne and @Pois1, whose contributions to our community would be impossible to overstate.
