And with the finishing bonus back in play, cleanup duty can get decent points!
I run a TC20 nonstop because of stubbornness, though the camp continues to unimpressed and two more TC11s. My last camp runs at TC2 as long as I have backpacks, then at TC1 to use up all my swords. With no swords or backpacks, it gets set to TC11.
I know I’ll be constantly training like this for at least 6 more months!
All games have to evolve or they become stale.
This was admittedly debated at some length in beta and the fact is the reuse of heroes breaks any possible matchmaking solution for the overwhelming majority of alliances.
I take my 5* heroes and a few healers, and then just proceed to wipe the floor with 6 of their high value targets if I’m allowed to use it as CARob suggests. It breaks with lower tier alliances too and a mix of 4* heroes and healers with the various suggestions.
No reuse keeps it fair for everyone… assuming the matchmaking algorithm actually makes sense and matches alliances up based on bench depth (which it doesn’t appear to now, alas). I suggested a solution and many others have repeated it, Petri has at least stated they’re looking into the matchmaking issues so there’s hope.
I will say this about the no reuse: it’s epic for getting people to actually level heroes they otherwise ignored. There are still a few heroes I won’t bother with, but I was one of those who kept copies of virtually all 4*'s, and suddenly there’s a use case for Chao and Kelile which I didn’t have before… so they are getting leveled.
I think in general you will be match against an alliance in the same caliber as yours. Higher level alliances will have 20-30 ascended heroes, so I think it is good the way it is as it gives me a reason to ascend additional heroes that I may not have otherwise.
This maybe a shock to some of you but almost all of those who play this game, NEVER come to the forums.
Getting the word out means that there is a message in our games email box saying;
“Prepare for war! We cant say much yet but you will need at least 30 heroes. So save up now when war shows up next week!”
If I had been on beta I would have flooded the developers with the recommendation that the message I just quotes get’s into every players in game in box. I would have asked other beta testers to support me in the campaign to do so, because, it’s the right thing to do. None of you obviously did that.
So (to the beta testers) either agree with me that the way WAR was rolled out was clumsy and disappointing or take responsibility for not fighting hard enough for your fellow players.
Anyhow, the WAR roll-out was abysmal at best. We get it now, you need 30 heroes, preferably maxed out. Got it. I am asking my team to change their game play to fit the new mold. We are upgrading Training Camps for this mess and moving forward accordingly.
Lol. nice strawman - “either agree with me that it’s terrible or admit that you suck”… best of luck with that approach.
FYI, we aren’t told on how things are going to be communicated and rolled out. We are asked to playtest mechanics and power testing. Which we do and give feedback on.
“NO one has a complete deep bench of 30”
Hi Rook:
Some of us are close, and I am sure that others are way over. I realized that I don’t have enough healers though so the requirement may be more like 36-40.
Having all these heroes doesn’t guarantee anything BTW. Through bad boards, poor skill and poor choice of targets, I am #8 in our war and sinking. There are several people in my alliance who have teams as deep or nearly as deep, and I know some of the big hitters on 7DD and other alliances have teams this deep but with many, many more level 80s.
ROTFLMAO!!! That’s a great deduction of my comment. But, when you get “you should have checked the forums like us smart nerds” as feedback, what other response did you think you were going to get?
Anyhow for those of who were not “in the know” this first time at WAR is pretty much a “throw-a-way”. I got my alliance on deck on the new game play changes and how to adapt.
Forums were not the only place where the info moved. At least Finns have many Line-chats. There, one beta tester let the rumor out, and soon every Finnish alliance who had any interest in game news knew that you would need 30 heroes.
I believe that if you had any connections outside your own alliance there was a pretty good chance you got this info without coming to the forums.
True, forums are not the only place to get this information - there is peer support chat also, where people were sharing information about the wars in advance.
Forums and peer support are not (only) for nerds, but for anyone that is actively looking for information.
This springs to mind one problem I have: Finnish chat does not have peer support!
(sorry for off-topic)
A potential thought - force a player to pick 30 heroes at the beginning as part of planning, use them until they die off.
If you’ve spent the entirety of the game working on one team, and one team only, that’s your fault.
If you think this game, before, was just about building the strongest team and it wasn’t already strategy base you were mistaken.
I thought I’d hate war honestly, but it was nice that one guy couldn’t just wreck your alliance because he’s spent every waking hour on ONE team. What sense does that make?
Alliance War only has a couple of problems I’d say.
-
As leader I’d like to know who has done what. It helps me coordinate attacks.

It should show your available Hero pool before you pick a target, that way you can make a more informed decision.
Hello Rook,
I would suggest to let them use twice. I have a mixed alliance with high and low level players. Especially the low level players have not even enough room in rooster to keep 6 Teams for Alliance war.
Maybe there is a solution to use same heros again after halve or a certain time?
I’m all aboard the “this is good because it forces differebt strategies”-train.
I love that you can only use heroes once. It allowed me to work my magic as a tactician on a whole new level in this game.
I get that this might feel bad for newer players. But once the matchmaking is done properly then you should face equally new players on the enemy side.
We had an alliance as opponent with 1000 trophies or above when want to join. So than it is not fair to play against an “open” alliance, right?
Maybe this is the solution. Keep one hero tactic but look for more equal alliances as opponent?
That is what I’m suggesting. And seeing how many times Revelates idea on the matchmaking has been supported abd reposted, I’m not the only one
It sounds to me (myself included) that mid level players dont have the time/resources to compete in AW like we hoped we would. Clearly its a move by the Devs to make players play and spend more. Regardless, it shouldnt change much. Im going to continue building my A team and smash everybody in Raids AHAHHAHAHAHA
How do you define a mid level player?
Mainly because I think the opposite. I am a mid level player in a maybe little above mid level alliance. I’ve been playin little below 3 months. I had only 3x4* when the war started, I managed ~3 full level teams of 3*, rest were lvl 1 3* or 2*. I had impact even with my weaker teams, lvl 1 heroes are sufficient in cleanin up 4* or 3* stragglers that our enemy had.
Also I do not feel by any means forced to use money because of AW, I get more heroes from the training camp and it’s all good.
Yeah its not hard to level up a bunch of 3* heros i agree. Most of us have a team of 4 or 5 star heros that is insanely hard to build… let alone 30 of em.
