Just in time for being a week late for relevancy, we bring you…
The Thanos Challenge Competition!
Hello everyone,
First off: No Endgame spoilers in this thread!! Do not post them.
In commemoration of Avengers Endgame being released, we (SGG Staff + volunteer Forum Moderators) wanted to have a small contest!
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the movie series, the villain Thanos’s mission is to collect the 6 Infinity Stones to acquire unlimited power and destroy half the universe.
A large group of users over on our subreddit have come up with a “Thanos Challenge” in which you take a screenshot of a battle board that has all 5 colored diamonds (that happen to look an awful lot like the Infinity Stones).
The Contest & Giveaway!
Prizes: The 5 Winners will each be rewarded with 600 gems!
How to Enter
This is NOT a raffle or RNG giveaway
Deadline: May 19, 2019 8:00 AM
Post an ENTIRE SCREEN screenshot of your Thanos Challenge to this thread. (We want to be able to see the enemies and your heroes in addition to the board.)
Valid entries must have AT LEAST one Diamond or Dragon of each color.
You may enter multiple times in separate posts.
Please submit only your OWN screenshots. We will ask for verification if something looks fishy.
Selection of Semifinalists
10 Semifinalist Entries will be chosen by contest judges, @RakeJay & @zephyr1 , after the entry deadline ( May 19, 2019 8:00 AM )
Entries will be judged based on:
Use of Diamonds or Dragons – either are allowed for entries, but designs with all of one will be judged more highly, and Diamonds will generally be considered worth more than Dragons, unless the design is otherwise truly impressive.
Creative or Complex Layout of Diamond/Dragons – scattered diamonds are fun, but creative shapes or alignment will be judged more highly.
Difficulty of Place of Achievement – anyone can make some diamonds while farming 8-7; only the truly dedicated can achieve The Thanos Challenge in more interesting spots like Raids or harder stages. (NOTE: we’ve provided 2 weeks for entering, so no one feels rushed to use Flasks or gems to compete by endlessly repeating stages in a short time.)
Overkill – Got multiple Diamonds or Dragons in each color? You’re getting higher ranking. Get creative with how above and beyond you can go!
Board Destruction Potential – bonus points will be awarded for setups that can clear the whole board in one move.
Hero Creativity – can you assemble an interesting team to use while completing your challenge?
How to Win!
The 10 Semifinalists will be voted on by Forum Members.
The Forum Voters will eliminate half of the 10 Semifinalists to select the 5 Winners.
You saw what we did here, right? We’re pretty clever, aren’t we.*
The Winners will remain alive each win 600 gems!
…plus fame and respect, and such.
*@zephyr1 should not be left alone to write contest posts late at night. Don’t blame any cheesiness of this post on @RakeJay .
Also a reminder to be civil. Please refrain from posting Endgame spoilers. Violators will be dealt with accordingly, with 3 months of bad RNG Karma. KarmNG? Can I coin that phrase? I’m coining that. It’ll be bad.
Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got!

An Atlantis Ursena fight on Hard mode.
Our assessment:
We like the compactness and the fun healing 4* all-stars team. All colors are represented with gems. It even helped someone else learn how to do the fight.
Good destruction potential (popping the blue diamond blows up the board)

A raid gauntlet with four finger and a thumb in claw position
Our assessment:
Fun layout, and we really liked the challenge of accomplishing this in a raid. The symmetry of the team (and the Natalyas facing GMs) is fun. All colors are represented by gems.
Good destruction potential (popping the purple gem will clear the board fully).

A raid with a 5* team, almost at its conclusion
Our assessment:
It’s compact and well placed, and it’s a raid, which is nice. All colors are represented, but with red as a dragon.
Full destructive potential unlocked by the dragon.
My best attempt so far, a raid from today May 6th, 2019. I liked the overall arrangement…
Edit: Realized why I like it so much. Infinity Gauntlet has 6 stones, one bigger than the rest. This has 6 stones, one different. Upon completion of those gems, exactly 50% of the heroes on the board are gone (4 his, 1 mine).

A Season 2:17 Atlantis Hard mode heart in the fog
Our assessment:
Beautiful design, with nice core symmetry. All colors are represented with gems, and there are 7 gems overall.
No full-board destruct appears possible.
Hard stage Atlantis - Dense fog (still 17, I think)

Semifinalist #6: @Horund
An Avalon Legendary stage 7 boss fight with a dragon and diamond T
Our assessment:
The configuration is beautiful, with dragons on the ends of the diamond arms. The speed of production is quite impressive too (4:40 into the fight). All colors are represented by gems.
Good destruction from popping the purple or red diamond, but no full board clear from either.

Semifinalist #7: @Leia
A Season 2:26-8 Hard mode fight with a 2-2-1 team
Our assessment:
This is a fun “big dipper like” constellation of gems and dragons, with plenty of dragons along for the ride. All colors are represented with gems (as well as 4 colors in dragons), with 7 gems and 5 dragons.
Good destruction potential, with multiple options, and a nice video of the board clear.
OMG! My best yet! All diamonds of each color triggered with the help of my dragons.
Total board clear! (video below)
Had to download a screen record app just for this occasion!
I’m ecstatic! Was sooo nervous building this board. Can’t believe for once it didn’t blow up! Thank you RNG gods!

A Season 1 8-7 entry with a 1* team
Our assessment:
The 1* rainbow team on 8-7 makes this entry really fun and unique. All colors are represented with gems.
No full board destruction is possible.

The dragons of Shrikewood
Our assessment:
ZOMG Dragons. That’s a LOT of dragons. 11 to be precise. Quite a feat in and of itself, but the configuration is also really fun. It looks like a flagpole and flag made out of dragons.
No full board destruction is possible.

Ursena Boss Fight from Season 2 with a symmetric gem Y
Our assessment:
The scenario is quite challenging to begin with, and the symmetric Y configuration is just beautiful. This has a lot of wow factor. All colors are represented by gems, and there are 7 gems.
No full board destruct appears possible.

I really like “T” and “Y” setups, also 11 dragons are awesome, it must was hard to not destroy them by one click.
But my favorite is number 3, 2 Natalyas vs 2 GM looks really funny + gems and dragons making perfect “T” in the middle.
Good luck everyone!

I like semifinalists 8 and 9 but that’s just me
Bad jokes aside, thanks Zephyr and Garanwyn for all the hard work in putting this challenge together. I hope there are more challenges like this in the future

I was excited to see the new player entry in #1 , and the 1* team in #8 amongst the entries — I hope others will appreciate those efforts as well, even with less bling.
Very few entries made use of the “creative heroes” criteria.
