Yeah strangely in THB, T3 is exactly x3 cost of T1 (but not the same thing in T2) … so the price variation is not consistent among currency
Edit my bad … see my post below

Ah, so they are trying to do a balancing act here. Didn’t consider international pricing as they set USD prices and then let the app store do its thing internationally.
My mistake! I was blurred and confused with the other offers … In fact, i looked again and T3 is actually even pricier / crazier than the USD counterpart …
It is complete opposite to my post above
In THB, T3 is 33% pricier than it should be, while in USD it is just 10% pricier than it should be
This is insane. I wonder if there’s something the devs can do about this. Buying x3 of T1 is so much cheap than T3. Valhalla portal is semi obsolete anyway and offers like these will expedite the obsolescing.
Maybe their logic is: T1 is for the poor (c2p) who gets a fair or a bit better value … T2 and T3 are for the rich, who will always buy everything whatever the price is
(maybe they have stat that spenders in my country tends to buy all offers )
It’s ridiculous in SGD too.
Only logical explanation is heftier penalty if players buys T2/3 after exhausting T1 to deter urge to gamble. [sarcasm]
Thoughts on the WS Black Friday gem deals?

Synopsis Both offers are subpar and carry a premium on gem price. An interesting mechanic has been added to the offers - extra gems towards a chest. The idea is that different offers give you additional gems, which then get added to a chest. You can only redeem the chest once you reach a certain gem threshold but the you need to pay an additional $5 for 450 gems.
This is similar to credit card rewards system - designed to encourage people to spend more but unlike credit cards, you need to pay again to redeem those rewards. To add insult to injury, the gem price is 2x more of regular price.
You can accumulate the gems in that Gem chest past 450. If player keeps buying ALL WS BF offers till D6, that comes to 800 gems daily from offers:
6 days = 4800 gems
Plus 200 gems free
Total 5000 gems (possible)
For the “unbelievable” price of US$4.99
But the catch is Player would have to spend $479.64 to get 72,000 gems (worth $360), to accumulate those (potential) 5000 gems and then buy them for a “nominal” $4.99 (if my understanding is correct).
Total paid = $484.63
Purchased gems (all in) = 77,000
Value = $360 + $22.50 (4500 gems) + $2.48 (500 gems)
=> $384.98
Premium on those gems => $99.65
Basically “tipping” Zynga $16.61 daily for having that BF portal.
My other game has this gem chest too. I don’t have to pay a cent to accumulate gems. I only need to play normally and the chest fills up on its own. It’s now at 1500 gems for $9.99. Is it a good deal? I suppose so if I am desperate for gems but I am not. So it’s still there, waiting for me to bite.
Great work, men. Wont be buying that .
I get the same problem.
My local currency has nosedived through 2022/2023, so all offers have become more expensive.
It used to be give or take an even 10xUSD = 329 NOK for 29 USD offer.
Now that is 399 NOK for 29 USD offer.
The interesting part is that this makes variations in how much more expensive an offer is.
The 4,9 USD has stayed at 59 NOK, up from 55 NOK when I started playing.
A 7% increase, while the 29 USD offer has increased with 21%
Which continues to make the 5/5,5 pulls in webshop that much more enticing
I think it is just a coincidence in how they calculate prices based on conversion rate.
I get the same as just posted above, and they often “even out” the offer; so that it is now 399 NOK for the 29 USD offer, instead of it being, say, 383 NOK.
And this will hit more on some offers and less on others, and some of the lower priced offers will either be worse or better off, as they still keep rounding up/down
1,99 offer is 29 NOK = 14,6 NOK pr. USD
2,99 offer is 39 NOK = 13,4 NOK pr. USD
4,99 offer is 59 NOK = 11,82 NOK pr. USD
29,99 offer is 399 NOK = 13,3 NOK pr. USD
I think your math is off. In the store there is a deal in US$ $29.99 for 4.5k gems, then you get 300 of the gems toward the gem chest, so plus the 200 free they gave to start would give 500 toward gem chest and you could open it
And that is assuming offers will be identical each day (I think that won’t be the case). Also, there will be more free gifts each day, it’s not far-fetched to think some of those will also fill chest in?
It is accounted for - 50x4 + 300x2 = 800 daily gems
The idea is to not open the chest at 500 gems because you’re paying $5 for $2.50 worth of gems but to accumulate so you can get a bigger payout for less price.
That’s possible - we need to wait and see.
Let’s hope so.
If there are free gifts 6 days in a row. It’s possible to accumulate 1200 in that chest provided it’s 200 free daily.
In this case, spending $4.99 to get those 1200 gems would be a much better deal than buying those WS BF offers to get access to that Gem Chest.
Last year’s BF offers hardly varied from D1 to the end. And the WS already existed then.
But we will see how creative the Zynga Finance Team is this year.
Yeah, that’s what I am hoping for and would be by far the best gem to $ ratio (regarding that chest). We’ll see.
Web store was already there but just beginning (there was these 350 free gems) and it has changed a lot since then - special offers, introduction of tiered offers like in game etc. And in-game offers usually shift from Friday, when actual Black Friday happens, when compared to what was previously. I expect something like that will also happen on web store (and was kinda case for Solstice IIRC). But we wait, and we’ll see.

Synopsis T1 is nickel-and-diming now - they couldn’t add 50 more gems to it which would have made at par with standard offers (still would be lacking the 10% bonus for web stores so win-win?). T2 - subpar offer. Resist the urge folks!
