[Trophy Tactics] "Waffle, "Drop", "Slow Climb" and "Hover" or tactics for deliberately changing trophies

Subject
[Trophy Tactics] "Waffle, “Drop”, “Slow Climb” and “Hover” or tactics for deliberately changing trophies

Background

Following are known tactics for altering your Elo rating (trophies) in Empires and Puzzles. Trophies are your public Elo rating, many MMO have a hidden Match Making Rating also. More than two Elo ratings is possible in a game, but leads to diminishing returns due to random chance.

Thank you for many interesting discussions about this my alliance fellows, friendly alliances and my wife.

Summary

Waffle, Double Waffle, Half Waffle and Slow Drop are used to manually trophy drop but fill your Wanted Hero Mission Chest.

Fast Drop and Food Drop are used to manually trophy drop but NOT fill your Wanted Hero Chest.

Slow Climb is used to slow your trophy increase, fill your Wanted Hero Mission chest and consume excess food from food storage.

Hover is used to stop your trophy incrase, fill your Wanted Hero Mission chest and consume excess food from food storage.

Waffle ( named by my wife )

You discover your opponents in most raids are too tough at your current trophies, so you want to lower your trophies.
You need to defeat heroes for your current Wanted Heroes mission.
But you are matched with an opponent with lots of food, iron and a large minus trophies if you lose to them. Example 45k Food, 30k Iron and -45 trophies for a loss.
So you want the food and iron (win the raid) and to defeat their heroes (win the raid) but you also want to lower your cups (lose the raid).

Waffle part one

Fight them,
Defeat 4 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team (4 heroes for Wanted Heroes mission),
Flee using the Flee button (in this example -45 trophies),
Rematch using the rematch button.

The most important part is using the rematch button. Even if you don’t have more Raid Energy, if you use the rematch button now, you can come back in 60 minutes and fight the same opponent (if they are still offline).

Waffle part two

Fight them,
Defeat 5 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team (2 Raid Energy for 9 heroes for Wanted Heroes Mission),
Claim rewards (in this example 45k food & 30k iron).

This also leaves you with another rematch if you cannot defeat all 5 heroes in Waffle part two.

Double Waffle

After Waffle part one, you discover the opposite team is really easy for you to defeat.

Double Waffle part two (replaces Waffle part two)

Fight them,
Defeat 4 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team (2 Raid Energy for 8 heroes for Wanted Heroes mission),
Flee using the Flee button (in this example approximately -38 trophies since they defeated you twice in a row),
Rematch using the rematch button.

Double Waffle part three

Fight them,
Defeat 5 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team (3 Raid Energy for 13 heroes for Wanted Heroes Mission),
Claim rewards (in this example 45k food & 30k iron).

It stops at part three because you have used all your Rematches.

Half Waffle

This is basically a Waffle, but You keep forgetting how many rematches you have.

Half Waffle part one

Fight them, but before matching ANY tiles on the board,
Flee using the Flee button (in this example approximately -45 trophies),
Rematch using the rematch button.

The most important part is using the rematch button. Even if you don’t have more Raid Energy, if you use the rematch button now, you can come back in 60 minutes and fight the same opponent (if they are still offline).

Half Waffle part two

Fight them,
Defeat 5 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team (2 Raid Energy for 5 heroes for Wanted Heroes Mission),
Claim rewards (in this example 45k food & 30k iron).

This also leaves you with another rematch if you cannot defeat all 5 heroes in Half Waffle part two.

Fast Drop

You discover your opponents in most raids are too tough at your current trophies, so you want to lower your trophies.
You do not need to defeat Heroes for Wanted Hero mission.
You do not currently need food or iron from winning.
You are matched with an opponent with a large minus trophies if you lose to them. Example -45 trophies for a loss.

Fast Drop part one

Fight them, but before matching ANY tiles on the board,
Flee using the Flee button (in this example approximately -45 trophies),
Rematch using the rematch button.

The most important part is using the rematch button. Even if you don’t have more Raid Energy, if you use the rematch button now, you can come back in 60 minutes and fight the same opponent (if they are still offline).

Fast Drop part two

Fight them, but before matching any tiles on the board,
Flee using the Flee button (in this example approximately -38 trophies since they defeated you twice in a row),
Rematch using the rematch button.

Fast Drop part three
Fight them, but before matching any tiles on the board,
Flee using the Flee button (in this example approximately -29 trophies since they defeated you three times in a row).

It stops at part three because you have used all your Rematches.

Slow Drop

You discover your opponents in most raids are too tough at your current trophies, so you want to lower your trophies.
You need to defeat Heroes for Wanted Hero mission.
You do not currently need food or iron from winning.
You are matched with an opponent with a large minus trophies if you lose to them. Example -45 trophies for a loss.

See Fast Drop above, except you do not flee until you have defeated 4 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team.

Slow Climb

You want to slow your trophy increase.
You need to defeat Heroes for Wanted Hero Mission Chest.
You need to consume food from food storage.

Reroll your opponents, to consume your food, until you have an opponent with a low team power and +20, or less, Trophies,
Fight them,
Defeat 5 of the 5 heroes on the opposite team,
Claim rewards,
Repeat.

Food Drop

You discover your opponents in most raids are too tough at your current trophies, so you want to lower your trophies.
You do not need to defeat Heroes for Wanted Hero mission.
You do not currently need food or iron from winning.
You need to consume food from food storage.

Reroll your opponents, to consume your food, until you have an opponent with -40, or more, Trophies.
Fight them, but before matching ANY tiles on the board,
Flee using the Flee button,
repeat.

Hover

Hover is basically a Waffle, or Half Waffle, but reroll until your opponent is worth +30 / -31 Trophies.

Alternatively (if you mostly have more food and iron than you can shake a stick at):
Field a defence team of all 3* with no troops and leave the game for an hour. When you come back you’ll have dropped a fair number of trophies.

(I’ve made the mistake of leaving the defence team out overnight. Had to climb back from the 400 I found myself on to the 1600 or so from where I started. Doesn’t take long, and is quite fun in the doing. :sunglasses:

On the whole I subscribe to the defeat 4 and run trick… you keep your hero wanted mission ticking over without victimising the poor unfortunates who are weaker than you.

I don’t understand why you would want to lose trophies?

I don’t understand the purpose of this. Would you please explain?

So that you can fill the hero wanted chest easier

Better ham / iron (if that matters) period, the chests are a very small part of my alt’s income which is stupidly high. I’d do the same on the main and power rush my 5*'s to 80 but have to maintain a cup floor in my alliance… oh well haha.

In general to the topic regarding dropping cups: unless you have superfluous ham (you shouldn’t TBH unless you’ve leveled literally every hero in your deck), it’s far, far more efficient to just leave a funsy defense team up… always go for the pentakill every time to drive your chest turnover rate and get more chances at a rare chest.

Spending your own flags to drop cups just reduces your income and slows down the chest fill rate as mentioned above and that adds up over time as do any losses.

Yup. When I dropped cups before 7DR/7DD, I just threw a few unleveled 3 stars as my defense team. Kept me nice and low at 1450. Easy 8 raids to fill chest every time.

If i set my defense to weak, how much food do i lose from attacks?

Is it dependant on my stored food? What if i keep my food empty before lowering my defense team?

I am mostly interested in this technique to farm more food from raids, since that’s the bottleneck for me right now. Having weak defense seems the most efficient, since i don’t have to spend raid energy (!) to lower my crowns, and it can be done faster since it’s passive, just wait for people to attack me. The only detail to figure out is how to lower the loss of food / iron.

Depends on the resources stored in your watchtower. I never recognized a loss of food and iron, even if my tower was filled over night.

When you set up a weak defense, just clear the store. Never did that, but often lost about 300 cups over night.
