Give me something for my money, SG

“Stop spending. Get your fortress and then your TC to 20 and then wait.”

Wait a very long time for poor results, TC-20 is no better than using gems for a summon., very slim odds for both.

G

Actually, the odds are better than for the gate. TC20 has a 5% drop rate (the community consensus estimate) for 5* heroes. You get one “draw” every two days. So the expected wait for a 5* is 20 days. That means you will get, on average, 18 5* a year. Not too shabby for free.

The problem is that the TC20 heroes are quite a lot weaker than their HOTM and event and seasonal counterparts.

Kinda missing how Math+Statistics+Probability and low odds sounds like religious faith to you

You made the comparison but the explanation didn’t support the comparison

All you players that want a better return over your investment, I recommend buying SGG SHARES instead of SUMMONS.

I’m pretty sure they offer an excellent ROI.

Let’s subpoena SG for account records to see who here really is FTP…

Only way to tell…

BTW I really wish I was C2P or P2P because then I wouldn’t need to wait 4 or 5 months for Avalon to come again just because I was a couple hundred gems shy of a 10 pull

Serves me right for spending gems on that emoji for my avatar

It only took me a couple of weeks after I started playing before I decided to make in-game purchases. However, I started cheap, paying only for the VIP Pass in order to get the second worker and additional gems for pulls. My first 5* on a single 300 gem pull was Drake Fong. I was delighted and decided to spend a little more, so I bought a couple of the 850 gems package.

My next pull was a Dark Elemental x 10 which gave me Domitia and Sartana, plus Tiburtus. Thinking I could ride my luck during my first Guardians event, I invested in the 4800 gems package. Dumped all my gems into the event and got one Guardian Jackal and one Colen. Being kind of fresh to the game and having not visited the forums nor read the odds on pulls, I really didn’t know whether to scream with joy or anger. I was in a small alliance of about 5 players, some of whom were high levels with fully levelled 5*s, while a couple of us were just starting out. We all did 10 pulls or more during the event and I came out as one of the luckiest as none of us managed to get a 5 star hero. Still, it made me actually think and reconsider as whether the investment was sound.

I took a look at the ridiculous odds and decided to check out the official forum, and after having read the thread on Gacha, I had a clearer picture of what I was getting myself into. Our alliance was starting to grow, and the group was actually communicative. We were having fun beating titans and winning wars. It was time for me to make a decision… Should I continue playing? Having made in-game purchases, it was likely that I would continue buying…

I decided to push on, and carry on paying… It was a FINAL decision because I found the game to be fun, and I was in a great alliance with some truly awesome individuals who enjoy the game just as much. To date, I have spent about USD1,000 on the game. My wife thinks I’m crazy, but I have no regrets. Maybe I’m lucky, or maybe the odds are almost always in my favour. Whatever it is, I know and accept it as a fact that I will never see the cash I invested in the game ever again.

It’s been six months now since I started playing. I don’t always get what I’m hoping for from the pulls, but I am happy to say that I have a pretty decent roster waiting for ascension. My only mistake was buying the gem packages rather than purchasing the special offers with mats. For someone who doesn’t mind investing in the game, those deals are definitely way better than purchasing gems outright from the store.

It has been a long read, but as someone who is happy paying for the game, I have three words to those who feel disappointed, angered, or worried about spending on this game: “DO NOT SPEND!”

TL; DR - Personally, I feel that my investment is sound. I’ve been lucky… Some might say, extremely lucky sometimes… But in truth, I will never ever see my investments other than as pixels on a screen. However, I do enjoy the game and find it challenging. As long as the E&P community remains lively, and this game continues to provide new challenges, I will continue to support it. If it dies someday, so be it… I’ll just move on and find my entertainment elsewhere; like I’ve done with numerous other games in my gaming life. Afterall, the cash can be recovered as long as I am still able to work…

At the end of the day, to spend or not to spend is subjective. One can enjoy the game as a F2P, or one can spend and hope for the best with some cash investments. The decision is yours, and yours alone. If you start feeling depressed or angered, it’s time to stop. However, if you do decide to pay to play…

I did one pull from Avalon and got Guinevere. Not sure what the problem is.

Now I know I definitely am C2P…

Congrats on your heroes and your perspective, and good luck on you AM’s.

I liked your post, especially your reminder about the Gatcha post from awhile ago.

I hope you continue to have fun, but agree that if the emotion turns to worry or anger or something else, the money flow should stop. This is a game. It is supposed to be fun.

Good luck with your pulls, and good luck in your alliance!

I can understand the emotions on these forums… Seen it, been through it myself, and even had to moderate on various official and unofficial gaming forums. Those days are behind me now. I’m getting older (but none the wiser from what my wife says about my expenditure…) and my financial situation is pretty stable these days.

Gamers’ emotions come from their passion for the game. They visit forums to share their joys, or vent their frustrations because they love the game. E&P is a truly wonderful game with great art and concept. It adds a different twist to Match-3 games which is both entertaining and challenging, plus allows players to interact and coordinate within as well as without the game. It is a game with a lot of potential, and from what I’ve seen and read on this forum, the community truly wants to see progress and new developments which will hopefully add a few more years to its life.

I understand that SGG needs a steady income to not only keep the game fresh, but also to keep its primary investors happy. It’s quite possible that they have someone checking and reading through these forums from time to time and I do hope that they will eventually increase the odds a little on the hero summons, or implement some of the proposals outlined on this forum for the acquisition of past and current heroes.

I’ve also seen a lot of references and comparisons between E&P to casinos… Casinos are ruthless businesses with no sympathy for those who willingly throw their cash away in the hope of winning it big. @petri or any of the staff at SGG, you are not managing a casino but a game… In fact, it’s considered a family game as I believe people of all ages do play it, and unless I’m mistaken, Google Play rates it at age 7+ while App Store at 12+. I do hope that you will all take the time to pore over some of the proposals from the community and tweak things a little to make things better for all.

Afterall, even high end casinos show compassion to gamblers who have lost everything by providing food and accommodation, or transport home…

A huge thanks to everyone… The staff at SGG, the moderators on this forum, and the great community that make this game so much fun.

Have A Merry Christmas & here’s hoping for some wonderful changes in the coming New Year!

I shudder every time I see someone using the terms “investment” or “investing” here.

Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CDs, etc. … those are investments.

A mobile game is not.

It’s like saying I do all my investing at the casino or tracks!

Unfortunately, summoning in E&P is a huge gamble. Some score big, others not, hence I prefer the term investing rather than gambling. I do get something from it, even if it is just a 3*, but end of the day it’s all pixels, which is something I know for certain that I’m putting my cash into.

Both my wife and I play the game. She’s F2P and I’m P2P. We’re both enjoying the game as well as collecting hero cards, albeit I’m crazy enough to pay and hope for a larger collection…

My wife truly freaks out and jumps with joy when she pulls a 4* from the training camp… Me!?! I think I’m starting to get a little picky…

I’ve spent a little money too. I consider it recreational spending.

I know that in reality I am getting nothing material for my money.

I like “recreational spending”:

I spend roughly the same on a night at the movies and “have nothing to show for it” except a few skittles, an empty popcorn bag and the memory of the movie.

Agree this is not “investing”, but don’t think it’s a casino either (I’m not pulling a lever to get $$, or chips or whatever “back”).

Recreational spending works for me. Those who are unfamiliar with in app purchases in games ought to read the Gatcha thread before spending.

It’s a good term to use but I think for some, it’s gone way beyond that now, judging by the number of threads we see complaining about the odds, or summarising the amount spent on summons.

I still have a limit… 5x10 tops, but 3x10 is my norm for most events. But end of the day or at end of this game’s life, I do hope to collect all the cards. Part of the fun, I guess…

I have been playing six months or so, at first free to play just to see if I liked the game------which I do! I then went a little nuts buying to shore up my roster and move forward faster…let’s face it we are an impatient bunch lol! But now I consider myself a low to moderate spender…just buy the occasional special offer with mats included, and I am a sucker for the package deals with loot tickets----back to the impatient part of things! But I don’t consider it a waste as I enjoy the game immensely even after all these months, and have met some awesome people while playing. We all (or most of us) pay for our entertainment in one way or another…this is mine.

Like other posters have mentioned, once it’s not fun or you’re getting frustrated/angry/spending beyond what is comfortable for you, then maybe it’s time to step back and re-evaluate.

Good evening! Finally you realize that for their earned finances you get a pig in a poke. 3 and 4 star trash. How many I fought and wrote but the answer was not fortunate. That’s all she wrote. It is necessary to raise this subject

I suspect the use of the word investing is from translators.

The way I see it, for all the hours of entertainment I get every month from this Game, the company deserves my 50-100$ a month even if I had 0 reward for it. It happens that for my money I get a summon chance!

It’s impossible to ever feel frustrated when you see it like that. It’s money you spend on your entertainment column in your budget, nothing more.
