This may sound like a dumb question, initially, but I am looking to level Tiburtus to 4/70 or Sartana to 3/70 for the next event (Guardians? Yellow reflect?)). My best team right now is Boldtusk, Grimm, Cyprian, Melendor, Wu Kong.
Of course, if I level Tiburtus I can use him in both intermediate and advanced. If I level Sartana, she’ll be tier 3 and I can only use her for advanced, but she’s obviously the best long-term investment.
Ascend Tiburtus to 4th. Sartana is pretty awesome, but Tiburtus will suite your needs better for the event fully ascended.
What kind of team combo is best for the Guardian event, if that’s what it will be?

If I recall correctly, deflectors work well for those events. So the best combination would probably be Boldtusk, Tiburtus/Grimm, Cyprian, Melendor/Rigard, Wu Kong.
Wu Kong coupled with a deflector is a pretty thing to watch.
Different levels have different mixes of bosses and minions, so it’s best to choose a team based the particular mix. Guardians is yellow reflective, so Wu will either need healing help or be left on the bench for some levels.
My core team for intermediate will be similar; Boldtusk, Grimm, Tiburtus, Merlin and Wu Kong, swapping in another strong or neutral colour for Merlin on stages with less holy minions.
With a decent stash of mana (i.e start hoarding a couple per day now) Wu can get through Guardians just fine relying on potions instead of tiles to charge, and Boldtusk healing him regularly if needed.
Sartana at max level only has a slightly better base attack than maxed out Tib, so it will be considerably lower at 3/70, I would focus on him first.
For heroes with non offensive specials if you clear a path before shooting their gems, it’s perfectly doable. IE my sons only four stars included Sabina during last pirates. with carefully waiting to shoot purples until there was a hole, sabina never died and they completed intermediate and got the ascension items.
not doable if you’re trying to place but if you’re just looking to compete Wu can be just fine.
This is good advice, everyone. It sounds like the thinking is to start with Tiburtus and then get to Sartana in the long run. It’s such a difficult decision to leave a 5-star on the bench, especially one as great as her, but that’s the direction I was leaning too. I have one whole Tabbard, so it’s not like I’m close to fully ascending her anyways.
