Hi gals and guys!

I would like you to help a few players out with the knowledge you have!

I will describe the problem here but I will add a tl;dr to the end of the post.

So whether we like it or not the Limit Breakers are here to stay. This kind of power-creep created a strange situation for some of my alliance mates and sort of for myself too.

Unlike emblems these are star-specific, non-refoundable and have very limited source to get them.

The only way to get them is due to War victories and weekly tournaments (and 33% of the later being 3 star tourneys). I know a few members who completely ignored their 3 star heroes. The reason being the fact that before the Breakers have been introduced these guys only lost a few emblems every third week… Not a big tragedy… We do not know if Aethers will be added to challenge events but I guess so. This is why the rare difficulty of the events is also on the priority list.

But as of now every single Aether can be very important for the future developement of one’s roster…

These guys - and I assume there are a lot of others out there - do not want five rainbow teams of 3 star heroes! What for? They all have a strong roster of four stars and a few five stars but the hero cap is precious, emblems are always needed for the war bench, and feeders are also scarce.

So there are players out there who want to invest (level, emblem up and eventually break) in nothing but the best 3 star heroes and as few as possible. I hope you understand what I mean…

I know that the blue mono is one of the most all rounder what we have now but I’m not sure how it looks like… Also if you want to add like : " these are the top 15 heroes but definitely get at least one Grevle too" … it’s all right.

Also if you can manage your list the way to get around the emblem conflicts that would be huge!

Tl;dr:

So the rules are simple:
1, Ease of access: no seasonal or event heroes in the top15 list (s1,2,3,4 and costumes). You can add the rare heroes to the “honourable mentions” section.
2, Only 15 heroes: the best of the best heroes. We all know that every hero has a place but the roster space is limited. Emblems are limited. Limit Breakers are limited (:crazy_face:)
3, The selected few should be able to cover ALL aspects of the 3 star playfield (challenge events, tournament attack and defense)

So what are your top picks?

Which 3 star heroes worth the emblems ant the Aethers to get more emblems and Aethers?

I don’t play 3 star much and still am developing that side of my roster (had one rainbow then worked on 4s). With the exclusions you have listed these are the ones I’m looking to add to my roster.

I am allowed to limit break only 15 three stars with your restrictions, then I would limit break these from my rooster:

Ice - 3: Gunnar + costume, Gato, Nordi
Fire - 3: Hawkmoon + costume Sudri, Namahage
Nature - 4: Beleith + costume, Ishhtak + costume, Brienne + costume, Mnesseus
Holy - 3: Kvasir, Melia, Poppy
Dark - 2: Tyrum + costume, Baltazar + costume

If you want top 15 I will do 3 in each color.

Yellow: that’s easy for me, Melia, kvasir, poppy. 3 crazy heroes

Dark: renfeld c, tyrium c, maybe Bjorn but the first 2 for sure

Red: hawkmoon c, surdri, maybe the 3* from villains (sorry forgot his name, the better version of namahage)

Blue: nordri, Gunnar c, and chicken Jr ( I know he is a seasonal event hero but just one of the best 3* there is) helo/frosty whoever you have if you want a healer

Green:belith c, brienne c, grevel (and I personally like pretty much all costumes)

I don’t have any of the new monthly event 3* heroes, so I can’t say much about them, but the red villain one and the green from starfall(whacker?) seems also extremely powerful, so I would ask someone with more experience with those heroes.

There are maybe some more candidates, for example if you want a 3* rush team you could probably consider Ulmer c, Oberon c, Arman and maybe a few more.

I would break it down a little bit, only to make it easier to understand the logic behind my picks.

Blue: the strongest general purpose mono at this moment (AFAIK).
1, c.Gunnar: easy to get, good tank in any tournament format, acceptable flank.
2, c.Ulmer: easy to get, acceptable tank or flank or wing in any tournament format
3, c.Karil: easy to get, useful in any format
4, Nordi: good hitter for any format
(I was about to add Helo as the fifth but I don’t think pure healers are a good candidates for Aethers and she is Druid… Frosty is out)

Green: weak hitters, excellent support heroes.
1, c.Brienne: easy to get, good support in any stack
2, Grevle: excellent healer, buffer if you need one. Good tank or flank.
3, insert a green sniper here… I would say c.Berden because he is easy to get but you cannot go wrong with Mnessus or Hissan neither… Your choice!

Red: the second strongest challenge event mono. Sadly this colour is either too utility or too fragil (only my opinion! Others may convince me!)
1, c.Hawkmoon: easy to get, good buffer/healer if you need one.
2, Sudri: good for any tournament format, excellent attacker
3, Namahage: pure damage dealer. The main reason the red mono is the second best.

Purple: mostly damage dealers but two very important heroes.
1, c.Tyrum: dispell or cleanse… You almost always need one or the other. A must have hero.
2, Bjorn: the anti-yellow lad. Not a must have but very useful if you happen to emblem/break one.
3, c.Balthazar: I’m not sold on this one but I wanted to pick a 15th hero. As sophisticated as a brick but does the job. I almost picked c.Renfeld but I’m not sure he will get any Aethers.

Yellow: mostly boring heroes. Almost all of them are about hitting something than mana cut/blind it. Almost, but:
1, Kvasir: the Bee-dude is an absolute must in the current meta. Good attacker and defender in every format! Worth every emblems and Aethers!
2, Melia: I wanted to pick up Pixie but she is an event hero. The second yellow can be any 3 star holy really… c.Ganju or c.Bane are also good.

These are my top15 three star heroes. These lads will get some Aethers and I will emblem them to 20 as soon as I can.

With these 15 I am ready to face any defenses or to create a good def team in any format. Not necessarily A, but a solid B at least…

I’ll play. I’ll treat costume + base as same hero, as they can be used interchangeably anyway.

  1. Purple – Tyrum (dispel + cleanse = versatile); C-Renfeld (mana control useful anywhere); Bjorn (slower than Balthy but hits potentially harder, with added power vs. Yellow)

Honorable mention: Balthazar of course. Gill-Ra for events and Rush. Chochin would be here if not for C-Renfeld.

  1. Yellow – Poppy (multi-hit chance and high stats); Kvasir (minion meat shields!); Melia (her buff is especially excellent for challenge events and buff booster)

Pixie is an honorable mention for mana control. Bane is just a bit outclassed, but otherwise great. I also quite like Agnes despite her squishiness.

  1. Blue – Nordri (elemental defense down is great anywhere!); Ulmer with costume (defense debuff or attack buff as you wish, and to all!); Valen (I would use him in tandem with Ulmer-C for a nice 1-2 punch)

Frosty is an honorable mention. and of course Gunnar, although personally I find him too slow for Buff Booster and Bloody.

  1. Green – Mnesseus (snipe and dispel); Friar Tuck-C (great for buff booster and rush); Brienne (use defense down for challenge events and Titans, attack boost for buff booster)

Honorable mentions: there are a lot of good ones. Gramps (left him off because slow, but the resurrect and mana gain are great); Belith-C (nice heal, only reason I picked Tuck over her is the mana gain + Mnesseus already dispels); Berden; Ishhtak with costume. Whacker is also promising. and of course Grevle, sadly I don’t have

  1. Red – Hawkmoon-C (great for events and buff booster); Ei-Dunn (quite high stats, can also tank); Jahangir (although slow, has high attack – great for events and rush)

Honorable mention: Namahage (might even be top 3, except his buff conflicts with Hawkmoon-C). and of course Squire Wabbit and Rudolph. Bauchan, I don’t have but I would like to have.

  • Nodri (1 is enough but I have x2 since I need more blue offense heroes but I don’t have enough fighter emblem for second Valen)
  • C/CB Valen (x1 or x2)

  • Chick Jr.
  • C/CB Ulmer
  • Helo or Frost or both

Purple

  • C/CB Tyrum (I have x2 one for dispell and one for cure but can be change if I need x2dispell or x2 cure)
  • C/CB Balthazar or Edd (I don’t have Edd and don’t have enough wizard emblem for Balthazar)
  • C Renfeld
  • C Oberon

Yellow

  • Kvasir (x2) (I actually pull about 6 Kvasir but no Sudri :joy:. I have 1 Kvasir at +19 and 1 Kvasir at +0 since I don’t have enough druid emblem.)
  • Pixie (x2) (I have only 1 Pixie but now I really need second Pixie)
  • Poppy (x2 Pixie or Pixie - Poppy or x2 Poppy is enough but I prefer Pixie)

Red, Blue and Green are basically the only teams I use. So this might be easy :joy:

Blue

C.Gunnar, C.Ulmer, Nordri, Karil+CB & Gato

Red…now we hit issues. I fall foul of no event heroes…

So C.Hawkmoon, REDACTED, REDACTED, REDACTED, Ei-Dunn

Green

C.Brienne, Brienne + CB, Ishraak + CB x 2 & Berden + CB

Honourable mentions to Bee Guy & Grevle as tanks in tournaments

Also please make sure that you list the heroes you would emblem to 15 or over AND you are considering to limit break them!

This is why for example Balthazar is not on my list. I might emblem him to 18 but he won’t get any Aethers anytime soon. Bjorn will… Same goes for Frosty… I love him but will he get any Aethers? Probably not for a long time…

Over the weekend I will update the OP with the list of the heroes with the most votes/mentions. I hope by that time I will get a larger sample size…

EDIT: 20 emblems are probably unnecessary and overkill… changed this to a more appropriate number…

Now I have a problem :sweat_smile:. At the moment I don’t have a single 3* hero at 20 and overall only 4 in all rarities.
And I don’t plan lvling anyone at 20.
Maybe sometimes in the future, some with 4% mananode and costume for rush, but not sure if I will ever do that.

For me, I prefer CB Balthazar over Bjorn. In bloody battle and buff booster, I think Bjorn do better when it is +0 vs +20 but Balthazar do better in +20 vs +20. Bjorn is pretty unreliable and average. I need Balthazar+20 because C/C Tyrum is good for counter both buff and ailment but lack off firepower. If you want to get to top 1% without buy back, I think Balthazar is better.

In rush attack, C Renfeld and C Oberon are much better than Bjorn.

I absolutely understand your point! However I had to pick only 15 heroes so Balthazar did not make it (again: FOR ME!).

I will collect all the votes tomorrow or Sunday…

It is possible that Balthy wins…

Purple: Bjorn, C.Tyrum, C.Balthazar

Yellow: Kvasir, Melia, C.Bane, Poppy

Green: Grevle, C. Brienne, Mneusses

Blue: Nordri, C. Gunnar, Gato, Chick Lil

Red: Sudri, C. Hawkmoon, Namahage (Vollermork yet to be tested)

I generally run mono 3s and mono green is my top team. I have a fair number of these heroes emblemed up and tried and tested across tournaments and events, except Vollermork. These are currently my top emblemed 3s.

The following are the rare heroes who, in my opinion, deserve not only emblems but whose limits are alright to be broken using aethers:

Blue:

Original/Costumed Gunnar - Both versions are ideal for defense and offense, especially for the monthly challenge events (if it does not reflect ice). I only have one and plan to level another one (which will be emblemed in favor of defense and health on the original version) after stripping the first to reconfigure the talents in favor of the costumed version.

Nordri - He may be a poor elemental defense debuffer substitute (in case you don’t have Frida and/or King Arthur), but he is a viable alternative nonetheless. Like costumed Gunnar above, he will help improve scoring in the challenge events. I have 2 fully maxed and fully emblemed.

Original/Costumed Karil - this lone blue burn DOT dealer was greatly improved due to the costume. The original version have a better skill damage multiplier, but the costumed version has better attack stat. My least choice among the 3 blues.

Honorable Mention: Chick Jr. (for his massive AOE) and Frosty (for his healing and minions) or Helo (for his healing and cleanse).

Red:

Costumed Hawkmoon - The costumed version in Sorcerer class, if fully emblemed, charges her skills in 6 favorable tiles without even a mana troop supporting her during very fast wars and raid tourneys. I see no other viable options among the reds. Honorable mentions, for me, Vollermork (I know he is S4 but he is slow), Sudri (I know he is S3, but he is also slow), Bauchan (event hero) and Rudolph (event hero).

Green:

Grevle - Currently having the highest defense stat among the rare heroes, Grevle is valued not only for his overhealing but to his attack buff as well.

Original/Costumed Belith -

Original/Costumed Brienne - Who doesn’t want attack/defense buff?

Honorable mentions are Shrubbear (event hero), Hisan (event hero; I had at one point 5 of him maxed, now only 2) and Gramps (slow, similar to Alberich absent the heal over time).

Yellow:

Kvasir - A fast minion summoner ideal against enemy minion makers. I have 2 maxed and at +19 each.

Melia - Crit buffer, nuff said.

Poppy - Her possible additional hits up to 3 random enemies makes her the best sniper among the 3* yellows. I have 2 maxed and highly emblemed.

Honorable mentions: Costumed Gan Ju, Agnes, Costumed Kailani, Pixie and Arman. I don’t have the new yellow healer yet.

Purple:

Bjorn - I like him. I have 2 of him maxed and highly emblemed.

Original/Costumed Tyrum - Dispel and cleanse are too rare among the rares.

Honorable mention: Gill-Ra, Original/Costumed Balthazar, Guardian Bat and Jack.

Sorry @Vonos1982 but you tagged the wrong person for this one. :crazy_face: I’m one of the extremely few holdouts here that still stubbornly refuse to put any emblems on 3*, let alone spend aethers on them. My justification for this is I can still reliably place top 5% (let’s say around 95% of the time) in 3* tourneys running +0 teams, and so there’s simply no motivation for me to spend any emblems on 3* when I have a long list of 4* I still want to emblem, nevermind 5*. Yes top 1% gives a 25% chance at an extra 50 emblems, but in reality it feels more like 10%. And in any case even with a full roster of +20 3* there’s still no guarantee you’ll place top 1%, so I simply can’t justify the 233 emblem investment on a 3* when those could be better spent on 4* or 5*.

With that out of the way, if this is just a general “pick 15 heroes” request then sure here’s my list:

Honestly, probably would’ve been easier to just list the 3* I would NOT level at all - Graymane and Prisca. Even with costume both are just so underwhelming, whereas for everybody else I can at least find some situational use for them (yes, even Dawa, but only her costume)., and have used them at least once at some point.

My opinion is almost completely aligned with (@)sleepyhead with maybe 3 exceptions and they are roster differences (sorry I cant tag, maybe because I am a forum newbie?).

I cannot fathom why after spending the cash, you can’t pony up for some roster space? Seriously, just 15 x 3 stars? I have 70 (I need to do some cleaning), but because I play my 3 star tournaments without emblems, I like to be able to mix it up I’m doing it only for fun. Being able to cream +100 emblem defences gives me a warm inner glow. I don’t get above the top 10% but my defence always gets an A grade.
