The FTP Rebellion. Who wants to join? (Part 2)

Whoever invented middle school should only ever be able to draw heroes from the current FS list.

That’s an impressive curse to put on someone, but I wholeheartedly agree!

I had initially considered “drawn and quartered,” but that didn’t seem strong enough :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So, after taking Peridot in the SE, I was feeling a little uninspired by my choice, so I have not been rushing to level her. I just got her to 80-14 and I’m very pleased. Each of her charges really does offer something. The first charge gives you just enough to finish off enemies that are hanging around. The second charge offers a substantial hit, poison, and blind at 9 tiles and the 3rd charge is just explosive. I’m 1 aether short of her LB, or more if I decide to 2LB a green, but that is still TBD, but she is definitely going to be a strong part of my roster and a steal at 10 souls.

The most important thing is that you feel good about your choice. Takes a long time to save up enough dupes to make a trade. I’m glad you got somebody impactful.

Since you bring small and medium mana pots anyway for PROTEUS, you can use one healer and maybe axes and should be fine.
I had absolutely no problems with Ariel, Adalinda, PROTEUS and 2 I dont remember to finish the event. The bosses never used their specials and finally died after some time. :slightly_smiling_face:

The thing you have to watch with using Proteus, ccLi Xiu, etc to shut down 3 bosses is to be careful not to take out the one in the middle first. If you do, then you lose the ability to shut down both wings at the same time.

Middle school is the pits, but enjoy those weaselettes as much as you can. My Stevelings are 19 and 21 and heading into adulthood. It goes fast!!

Glad to hear that, mine is waiting for Cinisia (4/50) to be done.

Ahh yes…I learned this some years ago when I got my first PROTEUS  :tada: and my E&P world changed for the better. :slightly_smiling_face:
I am astonished that I am still using him so often after so many years, although the Heimdall, Ludwig, Adalinda combo is a strong rival now! :slightly_smiling_face:

Playing passively never stopped me from going with the team I went, and it was my jovial 4* team that pretty much helps me clear every PvE stage where they are not restricted. And look, 2 healers (BT, Mel-C), Mana control (Proteus), Def up/down, sharing all around (Wilbur), damage upper with Wu. This line up does no direct damage with their specials (unless you count the poison DoT from fish face), and relies entirely on tile damage.

If that is not what playing a passive style, I don’t know what is. It won’t suit everyone, but it’s certainly a doable style.

I’m impressed that lineup works. I would have assumed it was far too passive. But then again, I got Wu late and never really warmed up to him.

Even though I read here that the goblin event was tough, I thought I would be fine since I have Hel. For events like the (new harder) costume chamber, I use a mono purple team with Rigard, Sabina, Hel, Louhi, and Sergei. (Two healers to counter the big slash attacks.) I tried that same team in stage 9 and lost!

I decided to switch teams to c1 Leo (LB1+18 with 2 cb), c2 Li Xiu (LB1+20), Miriam and Midnight (LB1+14), Hel (LB1+18), Rigard (LB1+20).

This team made things much easier! I beat stages 9 and 10 without much problem. I still lost at least one of the wings each stage, but by the time that happened it was clear I would win easily. I definitely used mana pots. It is possible that c2 Leo would have been better for the mana cut, but I was going for pure damage - c2 Li Xiu is emblemed for attack. In raids, the c1 Leo - c2 Li Xiu combo is great! (I follow with a Scoratek fiend bomb if necessary to finish the job.)

I am still getting used to M&M, but she is very good! In raids, when her kittens toss ailments back at the defense it is so great. I would very much like an ailment reflect hero - or even another ailment block hero. Faiez is great, and I just finished Ptolemy but I don’t have emblems for him yet.

Hmm, think that would work with Shar’Khai instead of Wu and Mist for Proteus? I don’t have the latter

His miss chances for the potential damage is something that would be hard to swallow if you aren’t used to it. But don’t you have Ranvir? He’s kind of like that, on the same boat, except he does some initial damage, not great if your enemies have Riposte still active. Wu’s version does no initial damage.

Don’t have Shar’Khai, since I haven’t summoned any Untold Tale heroes, but from his description, his attack buff type might be the same as the ones for Bertulf/Tarlak/Miki (the muscle symbol), and they are capped at 160%, but don’t have to worry about missing. Wu is different (dice symbol), damage cap is higher at 185%, but has chance to miss.

Aside from the elemental differences, they aren’t quite the same interchangeable parts (damage potential lower, won’t miss, unless blinded vs. damage potential lower, can miss, even without being blinded).

Proteus is a different hero from Mist.

Mist, deal direct damage, prevents buffs for 3 turns, def down against specials, and debuffs mana generation.
Proteus, deals no direct damage, does poison damage over time, but completely prevents mana from gaining when his special is active. The 5* version is Hel.

While both considered mana controllers, Mist does offer more utility overall, but her special won’t prevent mana from gaining, Proteus completely squashes any mana gain from the targets. The potential for repeat application is so high that it can render bosses helpless if Proteus (or Hel) can continuously fire.

It is a reason why Proteus was such a highly sought after hero when he was released and the 5* version Hel is not as readily available. Going through forum posts back a few years ago, when people had problem clearing map or event stages, you’d start seeing a lot of seemingly condescending toned post, offering the following piece of sound advice (“I did it easily with Proteus” strategy). This annoyed myself and @Noble_Weasel to a whole different level as these posts offered no further advice other than tell people to go get Proteus.

But as the game progresses to add more contents, Proteus or even Hel aren’t being made into every day/situation heroes with new contents. Towers for example, as you get up higher in level where buffs and debuffs have turns decreased, Mist may actually be slightly more effective because she does more with her special for the amount of time given.

Wish I could send you my dupe Suzuna. Vanda from Morlovia would be an ailment blocker you could target.

I do, but he’s at 3^70. I used to use him on titans before I got Rhys. I found his consistent attack up preferable to Ranvir’s boost with chance to miss. Still, Ranvir is faster and mathematically superior to Wu, so if I decide to incorporate that mechanic into my gameplay, I’ll probably break down and give Ranvir the darts. Druid emblems aren’t in super high demand on my roster, either, so he’d work out OK. Plus, 2019 HotM family bonus, element link, and cool centaur card art.

Welcome to the anti-“just use Proteus” club, @Steve1 !

Unfortunately I dont think that Mist can replace Proteus.
Proteus blocks mana generation on 3 heros for 3 turns that seems to be better than Mists effect.

Totally agree. Used my level 80, 20 Quintin emblem in war yesterday. Used him in Brave Musketeers and now I see the hype. True assassin. FIXED

But who did you use, @Chadmo? The suspense is killing us!
