🧪 The Beta Beat (V70) - Dragonspire -- Sharing the Big Picture on What's Going on in Beta

NOTE: Please do not, under any circumstances, share IMAGES OR VIDEOS from Beta in this or any public Forum thread. Violations can cause players to lose their Beta accounts, or threads to be closed down.

 What’s this all about?

Click Here for Details About This Thread's Intention & Format

Often players on the Forum wonder about what’s going on in Beta.

If you’re a regular reader of the Forum, then you’ll find that there’s actually abundant conversation about what’s going on in Beta at any given time.

And that’s actually allowed!

What’s restricted is images and videos — but discussion is ok:

The challenge is that information is often scattered around the Forum. I’ve created The Beta Beat to help centralize it for those who are 0interested.

The Beta Beat is a series of threads which are evolving as I get feedback on what’s helpful to players.

My main focus is giving some high-level guidance of what’s going on in current testing, so players outside of Beta can be better informed.

Like Beta itself, this thread is experimental and will evolve based on your feedback.

Information from Beta is frankly often mostly useless, so don’t get too attached.

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that heroes and features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release.

That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any information from Beta — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of hero skills to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to hero stats to be made, or for large chunks of new functionality to be completely changed.

Often Incomplete Information Circulates

Many of us have seen screenshots and other information shared on LINE, Discord, Facebook, and other groups — often without context or explanation.

These can lead to confusion and misunderstanding.

Often, early Beta information — the least reliable or useful — is circulated…and then updated information is missed.

I’m hoping centralizing some high-level information on the Forum may help to reduce this as well.

What’s Going on in Beta Right Now

IMPORTANT: I wouldn’t get too attached to any information from Beta — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of heroes or functionality to be removed, reworked, or radically changed beyond recognition.

:left_speech_bubble: Feedback?

I’d love to hear thoughts on whether this information and format is useful, and how you’d like to see information presented in the future. Any thoughts or ideas?

Please try to limit discussion in this thread mostly to the information sharing process and feedback on the thread, so we don’t end up with a jumbled discussion of a bunch of different heroes — use the threads linked above for each individual hero to discuss more.

Thanks!

For me, the most important part is that the Assist Dragons are now excluded form normal Raids and other competitive game modes! I really hope it stays like this!

I hope so too, but I have my doubts. From my understanding that was kind of the only incentive for EP players to invest their time and possibly money into the dragons side

For me it’s the opposite. Now, because I know that the dragons won’t be used in normal Raids and Co. I am looking forward again to the Dragon expansion.

Oh definitely me too. But if it’s completely separated from the base game, will you feel like spending money on the dragons? We’re effectively starting a new game from scratch, without it having any effect on the game that we’ve already spent time and money on.

I feel like they might need that tie in to the base game to give veterans a good reason to spend. And we all know that at the end of the day it’s all about money with this game like all other products

I am pretty sure I won’t spend much for dragons… Best thing would have been to release a completely seperate game which is all about dragons but I assume that won’t happen anymore.

I actually liked the idea of Dragon Assist in Raids, Wars etc but only for the attacking team, not in defense. Without it the dragons are not worth any investment of time and could just be a separate game.

Same here, and I think most feel that way. But SGG and Zynga must recoup the years of development cost that went into this update.

So how do they make people spend on it? Easiest way would be to make people feel like they need dragons or else they fall behind on the normal side. Otherwise they’re just counting on the dragons gameplay being so much fun that both new and veteran players feel compelled to invest money into it. And from what I’ve seen it just doesn’t stand out that much from all other games, normal EP included

Totally agree with your comment! Sooner or later we will see how it will be released. Hopefully in a way where SG and Player’s are happy!

Balance changes for already tested dragons:

Restricting dragons from competitive PvM means they won’t be available at towers or the sanctuary of gargoyles, so what’s even the point? Maybe not even monster island, since it has a timer and leaderboards. I think master emblem quests are the only hard non-competitive PvM thing in the game.

And for Master Emblems you only have to beat each stage once and can use mini time saver + loot tickets from there on. I believe sooner or later dragons will be integrated into other parts of the game as well. Maybe not direct pvp content but events for sure.

Update in Summon:

Me too. But considering their greed, they should add them later. I’d love this to be a map/untold tales gameplay update ONLY- not sure if I even understood it right, actually. Didn’t spent any time reading about it because i really wanna avoid it.

I’m the 100% opposite … I’m lazy about leveling heroes because they get weak even before i start using them. Imagine maxing then lb then emblems then lb again then level costumes THEN LEVEL DRAGONS … i am done I would never spend more money/time in another newborn base only to be able to keep minimally the pace of pVp content - which is already kinda ruined for most players.

I’ve played Clash of Clans for YEARS until they introduced the new newborn side base. I’m ready to go away again if it means restarting all over. .

I actually just wanted to enjoy whatever hero I’ve got and wish I had more map stages to clear instead of fighting 10k HP heroes over and over and facing the same events over and over again because they have to milk the portals. So well dragons would not motivate me for anything.

(Not complaining or judging anything - just me).

New heroes added to HA was cool, though. Better late than never since 95% of the “premium” results in there are in the same level of S1 results… useless old heroes.

They’ve used this tactic continuously for the last 2-3 years. The effect is likely to be opposite of what they want. They’ve used up a lot of the player base’s good will.

Woo hoo.you are so happy that most of old player’s are ready to retire because of that silly move from Zygna.we ask as players a revision on game modes and more modern buildings that can follow the game speed. Not a competely new game, on the game we already play. We are also asking for real game balance, so 5 star heroes could be competitive without the need of boring and expensive costumes. ill desicions from headquarters that we lead on a massive exit.

Not happy in that sense. I generally do try new games often enough so that Dragon whatever is something new for me to try when I have time, and feel like it.

I gave up on Zynga listening to player feedback.

If more and more exit, it is what it is. Happens to all games.
