Tank or Sniper – Time to decide who gets the scopes!

I’ve been lucky as a C2P with 4* heroes, am nearly at 6 scopes, and now have to make an enviable decision – which good hero to ascend, Magni or buffed Aegir!

I’m strong on Snipers (4^ Marjana, 4^ Kageburado, and 3^ Magni), and relatively weak on Tanks (originally 4^ Kiril picked over my 3^ Kadilen, then added hero options in Aegir 3^/L60, Li Xiu, Kashhrek, & Wilbur), and I’d like to pick the best hero for my scopes.

For AW defensive set-up, I’d like to go rainbow unless I have Aegir and Kiril, or Aegir and Magni. If I pick Aegir, I’d likely go Kage-Kiril-Aegir-Marj-Mel; if I pick Magni, I may want to pick a 4^/70 Kashhrek or Wilbur instead (such as Kage-Kiril-Kashhrek-Marj-Li Xiu). I want to build the rest of my defence team around the selected Tank.

  • Which hero would you select for scopes?;
  • Given that selection, which hero would you pick for Tank?;
  • What defensive team would you select?

I’ve been watching this post, hoping for one of the more experienced opinions to respond. I’m optimistic about aegir’s buff- maybe because I have a few lol! From what I’ve read, he is better at flank. He is not on my defense, but I use him on wars. (KadiLen will also gett a buff- since you have her.) Marjana and Jage should stay:)

If i were u i’ll choose magni over aegir. Magni is versatile and as a war tank, he is awesome too. Once he goes off, he become stonger on defense. With his Fast mana it is hard to take him down.

But before u decide anything. Better to wait until v.20 launched and see aegirs new performance

Good advice @mogulemon. Magni definitely has more versatility…….and I agree with waiting to see how the “new and improved” Aegir works for you…he did seem much improved in beta, and if you are weak on tanks he is an option, but good as flank too. Magni not the greatest as tank, he has pretty low defense.

For me, try to get at least a full set of 5* snipers. You have Marjana and Kage, 3 more to go. :wink:

Thanks for the insight, all! I’m wondering how much the “new and improved” Aegir will move up on the rankings of heroes deserving tokens on that excellent Hero Talent Player Guide (@MrsBCW), and what other top players think of him now. @Wharflord, you told @Rhea1123 that Aegir was worth the scopes if lacking a solid tank - what do you think of the choice of Aegir vs Magni when having snipers (as above) but lacking a solid tank?

I also agree with your assessment of Magni as too squishy to be a tank; but if not Aegir, I have to take Marj with dodge, or drop down into the 4*s. This is a tough choice!

I’m going to bump this post because I’m hoping for some advice too.

I’ve finally decided to give Aegir the telescope over Isarina. Now I need to decide if Aegir should replace Magni on my war defense team.

I’m currently using Leo, Magni, Marjana, Lianna, Rigard

EDIT: giving it more thought I realize that when we are facing blue tanks in war, I tend to look for Magni (and Isarina) over Aegir. I think that answers it for me!

Hey there, @princess1! Here’s an update and evaluation for you:

  • I too chose to give Aegir the scopes, and moved to low diamond with the team Kage-Caedmon-Aegir-Marj-Rigard. It’s great to use on offense because of the choice of teams to attack.

  • Aegir is not yet fully leveled; he’s now at 4^/72 with emblems waiting. Even so, he’s doing great at tank, the one spot with no other clear choices for me. If I can get Kage and either Caedmon or Marj to fire, I can clear out a file in two turns and with Aegir going off soon after, can often clear even very tough teams (e.g., Alby-Sartana-Guin-Magni-Lianna, either on my first or second attack, and works with Viv or Delilah or Leo as tank too).

  • Aegir’s 3-turn defense boost and normal damage heals for all allies nullify riposte heroes and keep my purples alive long enough to get a second chance if the starting board is weak on purple. It would be better if he had four turns, but three usually works ok.

  • Aegir would be great to use as tank/flank. If I had your choice, I’d probably go with Leo-Marj-Aegir-Lianna-Rigard. Marj is ok as tank with enough evades; I’m one emblem away from a second one, so may try a Marj tank Aegir flank once that happens. GL with your choice!

Thanks for confirming what I also came to realize. Marj is tank for now because we are using red. It’ll be an easy switch to Aegir when we change to blue!
