Suicide Prevention & Mental/Emotional Health Crisis Resources

A friend of a friend recently died by suicide. This is certainly not the first time that suicide or mental health have touched the life of someone I care about.

It occurred to me that as a diverse and large global community, it might be helpful to have a simple list of some resources for suicide prevention and mental health crises — perhaps some day, someone on the Forum will find and make use of it to good effect.

Many countries/localities have phone hotlines, websites, and other resources available for free.

I figure if it helps one person ever, it’s worth the effort to collect some links and phone numbers in one place.

If you know of resources in your area, please share them below, and I’ll add them to this post.

I’m so saddened by your loss zephyr1.

I’m mindful that at this time of festivity we share with family and friends, there are genuinely those who are estranged from theirs for whatever reason. Tons of blessings.

I’m sorry.
It’s a sad kind of normal that this happens more around the holidays.

Thank you to rise some awareness here. It’s “only” a game, but sometimes helpful things like that, that might be off topic, can save a life.

Loosing a friend or family member by suicide is very hard. I feel with you. There was a time when I was also the victim of strong depressions and I have to visit an ambulance and stay there for some months.
A telephone hotline is very helpful, but if you realize that a person is depressed, try to convince him to go to a therapist as fast as possible, so the danger of committing suicide will be reduced. So try to act proactive and never forget many depressed people hide there problems behind a mask. So if you think a person have mental problems, try to see his true face.

Merry Christmas

As someone who’s currently struggling with depression I already feel relief in the fact that I have actually spoken out about it. The amount of support I’m getting from not only my family, but also a TON from people in this community is truly amazing and shows me there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m definitely not there yet, but I do think I’m on the way up.
