I tried searching the Ideas & Feature Requests sub forum, but my Search Fu is weak.

Add a Like button/ Heart button for chat messages.

Often my teammates will say something cool in chat and chat instantly fills up with “+1”, “This”, “Agree”, etc.

This can be especially confusing when several people are posting chat messages at once. Letting us Like/ Heart a chat message would make it easier to find what chat message everybody likes, how many people like it, and keep chat more organized.

Like Discourse.org, the Devs could also data mine this information to help identify helpful accounts.

Likes are central to how Discourse works. So central in fact that there’s no “on/off” button for them because Discourse is not designed to run without likes enabled.

Signaling

• Trust Levels: By default, we use the likes to calculate a user’s promotion to a higher trust level. This can be disabled, but again it’s one of the best signals of a high quality user.
• Top Users: while it’s of course not a perfect metric, like counts are very helpful in identifying major contributors in your community.
