It’s true, we don’t even know what we’re suggesting fixing at this point, since the first Tournament’s matchmaking was totally broken.
There are a large number of threads in Ideas & Feature Requests now proposing various approaches to fixes. Several of them are similar.
I’m leaving them alone for now and watching them to see if any get traction. We can do a cleanup later when the dust has all settled.
In the meantime, @nes, it’s definitely worth noting that SGG has already acknowledged the problems and is planning a new system:
