Just having to choose whether to give my rings to cAzlar or Russell. No JF, no Gravemaker and no Ranvir in my roster. Is there an obvious choice for war offense and defense?
Azlar c, easy for me.
I have 2 azlar c max and one Russell.
While Russell is nice, azlar c is another caliber. His damage is crazy, if there are heroes with less than 50% hp they are dead, with more they get some serious direct damage and huge undispellable dot.
Russell is better than all S1 without a costume (personal liking), but with costume I would probably do all S1 before.

Definitely c. Azlar. He’s a beast with the added bonus that he uses less desirable barbarian emblems.

If you had the great fortune of having 2 Russells AND 2 Gravemakers (with costume) would you max any Russells at all? Advice appreciated.
After using him more, I still view Russell as I described above:
If you see C Kad a lot in war, you could have use for your Russels for war depth. If you have extra rings, go ahead and max a Russell.
It also depends on your other red options. I have 2 GMs and a Gefjon, so I always have better red attacking options than Russell for regular raids.

New to the forum, so still learning on best places to post. Mid-level player (3500) - CtoP. Wondering which of my 4* Fire heroes are best suited to assist Russell’s unique specials/passives. Currently I have Colen and Kelile - as an aside, I also have 3* Nashgar, which seems like a junior Kelile.
None of the above is an acceptable answer provided you give me an alternative to hope for.

Colen is your best choice, better if you have his costume. He can survive with emblems and with Boldtusk in a stack with Russell can give you good results.
Do you have kelile’s costume?
Unfortunately I don’t have any of the three yet… Her costume effect could certainly support Russell. I just can’t throw a bunch of coins after it. I had 20 keys, and the only 4* was Grimm.

Because his ability “Never Misses Targets” does that mean that Costume Cad can’t “dodge” the ability?

That’s my understanding, the Rogue class was a loophole that was closed as well.

Is anyone using Russell with C Gravemaker? Do they have great sinergy? I have lots of rings, so I might ascend Russell, but I’m not sure if Marjana would be a better option.
Fully ascended reds with emblems: Yang Mai, Vanda, Garnet, C Gravemaker. I could also ascend Grazul, I’m curious if the mana gain from grazul+yang+burning would made russell very fast.

I’m pairing Russell with Emilio, fantastic synergy! 6 red tiles → fire Emilio (level 29 mana troop); off-color (relative to red) tile match, and Russell (also, with a level 29 mana troop) is charged… So, yes, Russell becomes essentially VF with the proper support heros and mana troops.

I use C. Gravemaker with Russell every single day. They are excellent together. I have C. Azlar too. So much fun

Currently using Emilio in my mono red and working ok.
BK/Emilio/Yang Mai/Lady Loki/Tyr
With soul exchange coming wondering if GM is a good move to work with Emilio or if I should go for Russell who I have already and get Skadi or KillH instead?
I can max out either Russel or Jean François, any thoughts?
My other reds maxed are C Azlar and Marjana. I have Yang Mai, Tyr, Reuben and Khagan at 3/70
Based on your other reds I vote for Russel, he becomes very fast when enemies are burning; Marjana and Azlar will be great support for him to execute at VF, do you have any mana boosters to add to the stack, you can try Yang at 3/70 or get her up next? Azlar needs to speed up a bit or a good reviver to keep him going 
JF is pretty okay as well, but you need Russel more imo. Would’ve been better JF, Russ,MJ killer kombo. You’ll get them both up gradually.
P.S: Reuben should never go pass 3/70
