I use ametrine for the dispelling, she does great, as she very quickly goes to first charge and have a high attack. Also, the first 4* i LB’d, the fantastic mr Hansel. Green, but his manacontroll is great, especially together with Proteus

Merlin. His snipe isn’t brilliant, but the following mindless is golden. Also Boomer (not worth it) and Ingolf.

Yeah, the regular version is kind of terrible. What he has going for him is that he’s a fighter. But he’s slow and dies very easily, so when he fires you really want it to end the battle. That’s why the costume is so good. Especially if you have Wilbur.

Oooh true. And I have him unleveled actually. Thing is, I have so many purples to level up that Ametrine and Merlin keep getting delayed.

I kind of used some of your ideas against Ferant and it went great. I went 3-1-1 with 3 reds, c Caedmon - to cleanse a Little John, a Proteus and a Tettukh - and Mist.
It was a bit stressful though, because if Mist doesn’t fire before Ferant, it becomes a pain. I really need c Sabina to have both buff immunity and dispel in one hero. And I don’t have Proteus either, hence the “kind of.” 
For the other battles I went 4-1 with 4 reds and c Caedmon.
I won all 5, so I can’t ask for much more.

I mostly ignored the 3* and went straight to 4*. I feel this was the right approach as it allowed me to beat the higher lvls quicker in quests and events so that I didn’t miss out on all the high lvl ascension materials. If I had started with 3* I would be woefully behind in ascension materials and have nothing for the 5* I got along the way.

Ah, been there, exactly that.
People shouldn’t have to face fully emblemed and LBd heroes because literally only 5 of theirs are.
This, a thousand times this.

Tbh… These new 4* are putting S1 along with early HotMs and event heroes to shame.
Been riding Franz, Ferant, Sun Marcel, and Zhou quite a lot. Some have event replaced maxed and emblemed 5* on mono and defense teams.

So true. Azmia and Junaid join the list you posted of 4* heroes I value more than any vanilla S1 hero…such a shame…

Makes sense. I started completely f2p - and frankly, completely clueless - so I went with what I had. Sabina was my only 4* for about 2 months and I had no idea how important rare quests were.
In retrospect, I’m glad I have some of those 3* leveled up for challenge events - Karil, Ulmer and Gunnar are essential - but most of them are completely useless now.

Fair enough, but I still use Boldtusk, Rigard, Kiril, Sonya, Caedmon, Colen, Melendor and some others a ton. All of them have costumes though, so they’re not really S1 per se.

I mentioned in more than one topic that I’ve started working on my 3* and 4* only recently, and I’ve been playing this game since December 2018. As of this moment, I have 16 3* and 27 4* leveled, but a couple of months ago it was half that amount.

Good call. Tourneys, and challenge events if it’s your thing, are some of the best sources of loot in the game.
Piece of advice: if you emblem and LB them, try to do it all at once or close to it if possible. If you do it to just a few of them, you’ll face strong defenses with very limited offensive options.
Thanks to your advice i shall focus on some 4s for awhile have a decwnt pool of maxed 5s just have terrible boredom when it comes to leveling 4 and 3s.

I spent all my 1* one 3’s and 4’s and only use 2* on 5’s. This preserves food over time, but neccessitates that I have a number of 3* and 4* projects in each colour at any given time. This has mostly not been an issue. Maximize resources at all times, this is a marathon
