Questions about xp and heroes power

I’ve been crunching some numbers. I know the attack side of it is the actual damage since I managed to do such a hit on the lower monsters in the game. So the big question is the def.

I gathered some data of actual fights, focusing on a single of my heroes, Hel:

Hel: A612+16% (709,92), 315% (2.236,2 damage expected)

Enemy Lower monsters unknown
Hit pure: 2204-2279

Enemy Darkling Scout unknown
Hit pure: 413-429
Hit -34%d: 565-596 (+136-183)
Hit -34%d, +185%a: 972 (+543-559)
Hit +185%a: 701 (+272-288)

Enemy Caedmon D529+11% (587,2), HP937
Hit -34%d (387,5): 596 (26,6%)

Enemy Boldtusk D591+9% (644,2), HP919+6%
Hit pure: 399 (17,8%)

Enemy Sabina D462+11% (512,8),HP848
Hit -34% (338,4): 617 (27,6%)

Enemy Skittleskul D605+9% (659,4), HP969+6%
Hit -34% (435,2): 523 (23,4%)

Enemy Sonya D607+11% HP840
Hit -34%d, -34%a: 339

Enemy Melendor D586+11% (650,5), HP1000
Hit -34% (429,3): 516 (23,1%)

Enemy Azlar D342+9% (372,8), HP744+6%
Hit -34% (246): 856 (38,3%)

Enemy Boldtusk D711+15% (817,5), HP1107+2%
Hit: 322 (14,4%)

With this I prove that 1. Attack = damage; 2. The variation of attack is bellow and above that value; 3. Defense is not attack less defense.

I made a correlation between the enemy defense versus the % of the total expected damage that was defended.

Defense — % of damage
246 — 61,7%
338,4 — 72,4%
387,5 — 73,3%
429,3 — 76,9%
435,2 — 76,6%
644,2 — 82,2%
817,5 — 85,6%

This proves that def is exponential. And it also explains how people that had Athena before Patch was doing so well, taking a bit of def dont really change that much your damage, taking 50% of it only gave me 10% more damage (comparing 644,2 and 338,4), but taking 60% meant 20% more damage. So 41% less defense plus 10% more each time meant someone could get less 81%, and since it’s exponential, that meant a ■■■■ load of damage. Now it’s just a max 57%, which is a decent decrease, but not high enough to reach the insane amount of before.

Anyway, because the attacks vary, the numbers are not exacts, so the actual math there is hard to pinpoint.

It actually also makes sence, if it were a fix attack-def you could reach a situation where def would be higher than attack and you couldn’t do a single damage. Being exponential means no matter how high is the def, it will never mean 0 damage.

I will try finding so 700 or 800 defense heros to test out, but I expect them being around 85-90%. /Edit/: found one, it was 85%.

So there you go, mystery solved? Heh
